Washington (CNN) – Former Vice President Dick Cheney sidestepped a question Sunday about whether former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is qualified for the presidency.
Speaking to ABC's "This Week," Cheney was asked about the woman who ran to replace him - and whom some see as a possible future presidential candidate.
"Is she qualified to be president?" Cheney was asked.
"I haven't made a decision yet on who I'm going to support for president the next time around," Cheney responded.
"Whoever it is is going to have to prove themselves capable of being president of the United States. And those tests will come during the course of campaigns, obviously."
He added, "I think all the prospective candidates out there have got a lot of work to do if, in fact, they're going to persuade a majority of Americans that they're ready to take on the world's toughest job."

Palin is not ready! Cheney even "lightly" criticized her on her comment about preemptively attacking Iran.

Cheney evaded the question. He knows she isn't presidential material, just couldn't be man enough to admit it.
Wow that is the correct question mr cheney has gotten right.
In other words, Chaney is saying NO. This is what irritates me about modern 'Journalism' – no follow up when a question is dodged.
When McCain campaigns again for his seat I hope at least one interviewer asks him if Palin ran in 2012 would he vote for her. Then when McCain answers with the usual blather about how proud he is of her (and her husband, he always has to mention Todd), the interviewer would refuse to continue until he actually answers the question.

I am pretty certain Cheney is on record previously for saying that Palin was qualified. I am sure there are tens of thousands that wish they had never said she was qualified to be POTUS, now that it is 100% clear that she is in no way, whatsoever, qualified to be in any high office.The more she is out conning people out of $100,000 for a speech, the more we see how little she knows. By now we all know she will never be qualified to be President and for the people that continue to say she is qualified, we know they are not trustworthy and not telling the truth.I would not trust anyone as a decision maker if they try to tell me Sarah palin is qualified for anything other then celebrity status

For Pete's sake – let Sarah Palin have her chance to run her own race! Any one should be allowed to demonstrate their views and then let the voters decide. If she can raise the money and earn the votes, let her go for it! There have been many candidates in the past who were allowed to take their candidacy as far as they could. Mrs. Palin will know when to run or not run – let it be her call!

Give credit where credit is due. Even D. Cheney knows S. Palin is not qualified to be anywhere near the Oval Office. Am still wondering if she padded her resume' with a college degree. Has anyone seen it? What was her grade point average?

How can Cheney's lack of candor surprise anyone. He likes to snipe from protected vantage points. That was what he did at Abu Ghraib, at Guantanamo, and ever other time except when he shot a guys face off. That he did up close and personal.
Interesting that he can shoot a guys face off but he can't answer a simple question about Palin's qualifications. Kind of silly to take a sideline opinion on this issue considering that we all know the answer to the question anyway.
