Clinton ponders Palin presidency

(CNN) – While the thought of a Sarah Palin presidency may leave some Democrats running for the hills, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton joked Tuesday she will "not be emigrating" should the former Alaska governor win a White House bid.

Clinton was asked during a town-hall meeting at an all-women college in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, if she would consider moving to Canada or Russia instead of living in the United States under a President Palin.

Clinton was amused.

"Well, the short answer is no. I will not be emigrating," she said to laughter. "I will be visiting as often as I can."

Clinton, who is on a tour of the Gulf Region, also took aim at the never-ending nature of the American political process.

"It is part of the American political environment that people are always speculating on who will run for president and who will become president," she said. "And I have gone through that experience personally so I am very well acquainted with it."

"But I am not going to speculate on who might or might not be nominated by the Republicans," Clinton added. "I am very proud to support Barack Obama and I will continue to support Barack Obama."

Clinton battled Obama for the Democratic nomination in 2008, nearly bcoming the first woman to capture a major party's presidential nomination.

    Millions of DemocRats and liberals said then that if George Bush was elected president, they will definitely moved to Canada or Europe. Guess what, Bush was elected twice, none of these crazy people have the gut or courage to move to Canada. Although there are plenty of handouts or socialist benefits in Canada, those democrats still prefer our government' handouts. Hillary is very smart, because she does not want to move to Canada if it indeed ends up that Palin is elected in 2012 or 2016. Wise move for her to avoid the trap. You never say never, because something impossible would end up possible.

    Palin will never be President.

    I mean, that would be as crazy as, say, some Alzheimers addled B-movie actor being elected President...

    Could you imagine if Palin became the President? Even Republicans think this lady is a joke. They will NOT allow that to happen. You need someone with substance and the Repubs will find someone who fits the bill.

    unfortunately, "nearly" will remain true for at least another 100 years:

    "nearly" becoming the first woman to capture a major party's presidential nomination.

    If our country is stupid enough to elect Palin to anything, we get what we deserve: More of the same Republican tried-and-failed policies.

    Palin = Quitter, Liar, Mooch

    Republicans have to be just down right "DRUNK" to even court the thought of Palin running for President. She cannot follow through with Alaska's problems which is small compared to the whole United States problems....if she think she has jokes now, try running again.

    I really hope that Palin does get the Republican presidential candidate nomination. It would insure a 2nd term for President Obama.

    2012 would become the "Year of the Apocalypse" for a reason entirely removed from the recent, schlocky movie. "Catastrophic" does not even come close as the appropriate adjective, although it would be mildly entertaining to see if she could crib an entire State of the Union address on her palm.

    If she is the best the Republicans can do, then the entire party and all of its fellow travelers have either gone insane, senile or both.

    In the next 8 months or so-–If Hillary Clinton decides to resign from her current position, this means that she is going to challenge Obama in 2012.

    Hillary Clinton, as always, is a class act. Hopefully, after President Obama's second term, Mrs. Clinton will be elected as our first female prez.

    The only reason Republican would ever try to elect Palin as president would be because Karl Rove told them to.

    You remember Karl? He's the Republican strategist who correctly read the Republican "base" as a bunch of non-thinking voters who'll follow anyone who says they're:

    – "born-again Christian"
    – unfettered “free marketers”
    – anti-choice
    – anti-gay
    – pro-gun
    – anti-environment

    Yeah, and they either have to look like someone famous (GW looks like his dad) or be pretty (men like to imagine Palin dressing their moose).

    Never mind that when yahoos like that get into office, they:

    – cut taxes for the wealthy so they can export even more jobs overseas
    – turn a blind eye to businesses that steal people's hard-earned money
    – lie us into unnecessary, unfunded wars
    – intrude on our private lives
    – and in general ream the average American

    But like I said earlier, these people who vote for the likes of Bush and Palin DON'T THINK.

    What a stupid thing to say while abroad. It might help her personal popularity there but it vindicates those in the foreign media who feed a caricatural view of America to their populations. Someone like Sarah Palin wouldn't stand a chance in Saudi Arabia because she's a woman and she is commoner. Someone like her wouldn't stand a chance in Europe either because she's not part of the establishment. That's not what America is about. Clinton should have used the opportunity to explain that to these clueless, indoctrinated people.

  24. Vote for GOP based on their ideas, which are.......?????

    @I Can't Stand It,

    You know, the show Jersey Shore also pulls in mega ratings, but it doesn't make it quality programming.

    Fox News is the Jerry Springer of news outlets. They feed their viewers controversy, fear and opinions that completely ignore facts.

    Fox = Epic Fail

    Palin is a patriot – first an foremost. She is just as educated and skilled as many of our past presidents (maybe even more than some) – she just has a different style and approach – I find it refreshing.
