(CNN) - The Tea Party is headed to Las Vegas this summer.
Tea Party Nation, the group that earlier this month held what was billed as the first national Tea Party convention, said Wednesday that its second convention will be held in Las Vegas July 15-17.
Judson Phillips, a Tennessee lawyer who formed Tea Party Nation, announced the date at a news conference during the first event, which was held earlier this month in Nashville, Tennessee. But he did not reveal the location.
"President Obama told Americans not to go to Las Vegas so that is exactly where Tea Party Nation will be holding our next event," Tea Party Nation said in a statement.
That's a reference to recent comments made by the president. Earlier this month, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada told the White House to "lay off Las Vegas" after Obama slighted the city during a riff about government spending. The president's comments also sparked condemnations from Nevada Republicans.
In addition to speakers and political trainers at the convention, the Las Vegas event will "also be presenting the first Tea Party Nation Conservative Film Festival," according to the Tea Party Nation.

So these guys don't like it when the President advises people to be fiscally responsible and not waste their money gambling in Vegas? How immature can a group of disgruntled senior citizens be? Since they say they hate government spending so much how about they refuse to accept or cash their SSI checks?
Go TP! I bet they will have to DRAG the hipocrits to sin city!! This movement is hipocracy at its highest level. The intelligent will always exploit the ignorant for finacial gain. Poor suckers. They don't even realize they're being ripped off by this "movement" .
DON'T DRINK THE TEA! Get educated, if that is possible, instead.
The odds are very high that they will pay Palin another $100,000 to steal the focus of their party with the palm of her hand.
Tea Party Film Festival: The Birth of a Nation, The Invisible Empire, A Time to Kill. Plus endless videos of Scott Brown at one of his six homes, driving his everyman truck.
Americans have a right to be upset with members of Congress. But, the Tea Party movement is solid proof of how dissatisfaction can easily turn to venomous derision when led by people who just aren't that bright, and who can influence those whose bulbs are even dimmer.
One of the sure signs that the world may indeed end in 2012 is the fact that mankind – especially in this country – is marching down a path that is leading to the abandonment of civil discourse. It ain't gonna be long, folks, before the Tea Party imbiclles will make those poor sods who appear on Jerry Springer look like kindergarten kids.
Herbert Hoover was the orginal tea party member. The positions of Hoover in 1930 and the tea party positions in 2010 are the same. Hoover from 1929-33, refused to use Government to save the Banks, and he refused to spend money to stimulate the economy. Hoover kept giving tax breaks to the rich, and hoping it would trickle down. By 1932 the unemployment rate was 25%, and the Banking system had failed. Tea-Party members really need to study some History. How can they believe that the U.S. Government should have let the Banking system fail in 2008???? The tea-party Prescription would have led to another Great Depression. We have already tried the tea party beliefs under Herbert Hoover, and those beliefs were a nightmare for America.
I always thought "Conventions" were held once a year. How many Tea Bagger Conventions are in the works for 2010?
Nice touch by the Tea Party....a fine 'Up Yours' to Obama and friends.
Sounds more like a social club than a serious political movement.
Oh boy, the first Tea Party Nation Conservative Film Festival! I wonder if they'll show Birth of a Nation.
The White Annoying Tea Party. How's that for an appropriate acronym.
Oh my.... President Obama won't like this. He hates Las Vegas.
This otta thin them out. Vegas is more expencive than Nashville. Of course they'll try to count all tourist in Vegas as Tea Baggers.
Holding meetings and dishing out insults seems to be what the Tea Party is all about. Their 15 minutes is over now, isn't it?
How will the tea party people attempt to get their message out? "What goes on in Vegas, stays in Vegas!
"President Obama told Americans not to go to Las Vegas so that is exactly where Tea Party Nation will be holding our next event."
Anyone who uses such reasoning to go to Vegas should lose all of their money and get punched in the face by Mike Tyson for stealing his tiger. Oh wait . . .
Seriously though, petty, childish statements of this sort only serve to obscure the positive communication that can happen between concerned citizens. If we also take an honest look at Vegas, you will see a city that has been built on a high amount of fantasy, from the potential to win a fortune with a roll of the dice to being a real estate boomtown turned mortgage wasteland. Obama is easy to focus on, but how about a little more rancor for Nevada politicians of both parties who have spent years getting Nevada into the situation it's in now.
The sponsors must have made good money off the first one.
Ah, a conservative film festival.. We can only know what that means.. Not films based on artistic creativity, but films that will be quickly produced and financed by our corporate friends..
Typical teabagger/Republican grandstanding.
President Obama's remarks used Las Vegas as a metaphor for not gambling away money you don't have.
Here's the actual quote from the President:
“You don't go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. You don't blow a bunch of cash in Vegas when you're trying to save for college.”
Las Vegas is synonymous with gambling; therefore, using it as a metaphor for gambling is completely appropriate.
For Pete's sake, grow up already! Our country has more important issues to deal with than making mountains out of mole hills!
Tea Party having 2 conventions a year? WOW. While I am no Tea Partyer, I couldn't afford to go to the first one and with what they charge to attend and the location of this one, it smells of a profit deal for some organizer.
Tea Partyers might need to wake up and realize they are being suckered out of their money.
A Tea Party in Las Vegas in July! Somebody isn't thinking. Any idea how hot it is in July, in Las Vegas? You're gonna lose a lot of supporters who die from the heat. I realize the Tea Party is mad at Obama, but let's use comon sense, for a change, please.
Good...maybe what happens in Vegas really will stay in Vegas
Hurry Righties, tickets are going fast! The next 100 ticket buyers will also receive a new pair of Doc Marten chukka-boots, a complimentary head-shaving, a swastika key-fob, and a special reserved front-row seat at the event-sponsored fireside reading of "Mein Kampf".
It is truly unbelievable how the President's comments are so distorted. The President never said people should not go to Las Vegas he however did say, if you are saving for your kids college education then you would not go gamble in Las Vegas. These tea partiers misconstrue everything. Good kissing but Mr. Steele!
