(CNN) - Tea Party favorite Sarah Palin took a practical approach to this grassroots political movement Tuesday, telling Arkansas Republicans that Tea Party candidates will not win unless they join an established political party.
"Now the smart thing will be for independents who are such a part of this Tea Party movement to, I guess, kind of start picking a party," Palin said at an Arkansas GOP fundraising event Tuesday, according to CBS News.
"Which party reflects how that smaller, smarter government steps to be taken? Which party will best fit you? And then because the Tea Party movement is not a party, and we have a two-party system, they're going to have to pick a party and run one or the other: 'R' or 'D'."
The comments come 10 days after Palin addressed the so-called first ever Tea Party Convention in Nashville, where she praised the decentralized movement as consisting of "real people, not politicos, inside-the-beltway professionals."
"America is ready for another revolution and you are a part of this," Palin said at the Nashville speech.

Sarah"s vocabulary is outstanding. Remember the Bugs Bunny cartoons. He always made the What a Maroon comment.. Translated what a moron. She has a collage degree????????????????
And there it is ladies and gentlemen. The GOP has been dangling their carrot in front of the pissed of Tea Party and has lead them back to the party of tax cuts and spending hikes.
Why can't there be a third party? One that truly represents what these individuals want. It sure as heck isn't the Republican party. If they get back in power they will just go back to what they've done before. But of course since Palin is a Republican she wouldn't want that because everyone knows any third party that would develop that better represents the Tea Party would take away more votes from R's than D's.
They already have a party... the extreme right wing Rush/Beck/Palin/Foxlicans.
Is it just a coincidence that she's pictured with a Fidel Castro-inspired hat?
Probably not, considering how UTTERLY oblivious she is to the concept of irony...
I'm not a fan of the Tea Party movement, but it speaks volumes to how disingenuous Palin's "rogue" image is; essentially, she's telling an ideologically driven movement to conform and become part of the very mainstream political environment that it has consistently demonstrated its contempt for. You sound like a stale shill for the GOP here Ms. Faux-Rogue.
the dumb leading the dumber......right into oblivion. LOVE IT!!!!
And you need to, and, er, kind of, pick a party?
Sarah,
Go away, please.
Yes, they're going to try to get all Democrats elected this fall...seriously? pick a party? Who on earth thinks they aren't in the pocket of the far right conservative republicans?
All Sarah all the time, eh CNN? You are hypnotized into thinking she is news. Please stop the madness.
Sarah you are just the biggest idiot known to man! they're independents because they choose NOT to take a side and make up their own minds....god i cant' stand u and your retarded tea party followers!
This BROAD is NUTS!!! Since all of the POLLS show her as being a LOSER – she is now tryting to make a COMEBACK by affiliating herself and others from that NON-MOVEMENT REVOLUTION to fit in...
How DARE she tell the Independents where they should go???? This is the main reason why Independents were created because they did not like either side of the party. AND, not all Independents – if any – are part of her SO-CALL Tea Party GANG!!!
PALIN – you need to SHUT your MOUTH because every time you open it – you put your foot in it!!!
Wow. Who didn't see this coming?
Interesting after opening that can of worms, and endorsing Tea Party candidates that Ms. Palin wants them to fall back into line, presumably as Republicans. That probably won't happen. If Tea Party candidates appear, they will cripple Republicans. THAT'S why Steele, and Palin and others want the movement stopped in it's tracks.
If this Revolution were simply reverting back to being the people we were just 20 years ago, I'd approve of her statement.
Unfortunately, her definition of "revolution" is a further degradation of the bonds which unite us as a people.
What can each of us do to get this ship righted?
Smile more. Be nicer. Don't say mean-spirited things to get a laugh.
Live well and everything else will sort itself out.
The tea parties have to pick a party? This is laughable, they are already republicans.
They need to pick a party? These folks are life long republicans. They already have their matching red sweaters and stuff.
but what if..............they do not choose palinism?????????????
oh dear..........................................
Don't worry, they already have…
The solution, which will always evade people of Palin’s ilk, is to have NO PARTIES at all and instead elect individuals based on their ability to make reasoned and well researched decisions that will benefit most Americans. That is their job – to make decisions on our behalf. I really wish we could get past this us/them mentality. If we stick to this approach, we might as well play dodge ball to determine issues.
Why would we believe a "quitter?"
btw Love that communist cap Palin's wearing. Way to represent Fidel!
Suprising advice? I don't think so. It's just a back-handed attempt to recruit people to the Republican party.
The better question is "Whats your next step when you can't stomach either party?.
So fake-break away from bush-republicans spend a thon, Then rejoin them 6 months later? WOW these people have short term memory.
No Palin, they don't. No one does. Thats the whole point of freedom. Grow up, you whiny child.
America already had it's second revolution, and the conservative bigots lost again. Just because you're not happy with the will of the majority of Americans doesn't mean we need another revolution. We want health care reform, we don't care who marries whom, we think Don't Ast Don't Tell is stupid, we don't want to drill baby drill...we'd prefer clean, safe alternative fuels and yes, and we believe we need to adjust our carbon footprint because global climate change is real. We also value diversity, AND we don't think people should be forced to follow your specific brand of religion.
