Palin: Tea Partiers need to pick a party

Sarah Palin spoke at a Arkansas fundraising event Tuesday.
Sarah Palin spoke at a Arkansas fundraising event Tuesday.

(CNN) - Tea Party favorite Sarah Palin took a practical approach to this grassroots political movement Tuesday, telling Arkansas Republicans that Tea Party candidates will not win unless they join an established political party.

"Now the smart thing will be for independents who are such a part of this Tea Party movement to, I guess, kind of start picking a party," Palin said at an Arkansas GOP fundraising event Tuesday, according to CBS News.

"Which party reflects how that smaller, smarter government steps to be taken? Which party will best fit you? And then because the Tea Party movement is not a party, and we have a two-party system, they're going to have to pick a party and run one or the other: 'R' or 'D'."

The comments come 10 days after Palin addressed the so-called first ever Tea Party Convention in Nashville, where she praised the decentralized movement as consisting of "real people, not politicos, inside-the-beltway professionals."

"America is ready for another revolution and you are a part of this," Palin said at the Nashville speech.

I guess Sarah didn't hear that the Tea Party movement is an autonomous grassroots movement and will not "be absorbed into the RNC."

See the article "Steele appeases Tea Party activists in lengthy meeting".

Sarah – proving once again that she is dumber than a bag of rocks!

Sarah, Independant is a political party, and may become the most popular one soon if Congress continues to work how they are.......ineffective and not working across lines. This is coming from a Republican.

See Sarah why people think you are stupid, because one day you say one thing and the next day you say the same thing differently, you do not have enough brains to realize what you are readin, we know you cannot come up with anything to say on your own, so whoever writes your messages yand you read it from your pal you don't realize that you are making yourself look like an idiot.

I wish the press would just let Palin go away! Not only does she take great liberties with the truth, she contradicts herself once again.

As far as advice goes, I have some for Sarah: "Shut up and get over yourself!" Oh, yea, she might try to read a book. The world (even the
so-called right winged "reformists") does/do not revolve around you!

Has she given the money she earned from speaking at this so called convention back – if not, she is just another politico who wanted to be inside the beltway!

I agree that there is a growing grass roots concern over the out of control defecit spending and size of government, not to mention the intrusion into our personal lives. I will vote for canidates not parties and will support those who are anti-establishment, common sense oriented, and defenders of our freedom and soverignty. Looking forward to power shift in 2010!

So that is it in a nut shell. Pick between the two evils and be happy. Well this is not true, there is a third choice. Choose to restore your freedom and liberty from Big Government choose the Libertarian Party.

    Yes.

Whoever steps up to the plate will get their votes. At this time, republicans are closer (and appear to be willing). If the republicans fail (again), they will not have their support.

A third party won't work at this time (see Perot,...).

Why is this surprising? Only a moron would think that the Tea Party is not just an offshoot of the Republican party. This is not surprising.

Really, the fault is with the two party system. We weren't meant to have just two political parties. Try telling that to someone like Sarah Palin, though, who can't name a newspaper and doesn't know what the VP does. I'd be shocked if she knew George Washington was the first president–and he was one of many against a party system.

This person needs to just go away she does nothing but spread hate and fear. I just don't understand why she continues to be in the news. She needs to go home and take care of her children instead of using them to gain more more media coverage.

You need to pick a side – are you for the mentally challenged or against them?

With Rahm you were for being an advocate for the mentally challenged before you were against it when Rush & Beck told you to be.

You're a pawn and don't even know it. You have set the women's movement back to the stone ages.

People really believe in this woman? HOW/WHY?...she cannot make up her mind which way is up...period. Let alone form a complete and literal sentence. "...real people, not the pillitocos"...then...join one or the other as you have no chance? Wake Up America! You are being played! Period!

Look at her picture. She is obviously not telling them to pick a party but she is telling them which finger to use when they pick their noses.

Why do you continue to post story after story about this lady! She quit her last job, she has no indepth ideas and if she wasn't attractive nobody would ever care.

First she praises them for breaking away from two party politics, then she essentially tells them to join one of the two dominant ones. Sarah has proven, once again, that she has no real platform or core belief system. She is milking the disenfranchised and frustrated middle class for her own benefit.

Is that a Che Guevara hat she's wearing? Folksy wave or terrorist pinkie lift?

So, Republicans terrified of their association with George Bush begin to refer to themselves as "Independent" then claim they're being hijacked by the new darling of the right-wing, whom they welcome with open arms, and are now being told to go back to pick a party *wink wink* because their "independence" might not allow them a victory?

In the paraphrased words of Sarah "Roguey Maverick" Palin: "Oh, ya know, the of election which for so many is such a thing that, ya know, is of them of to seem lift the spirits of eagles that have wings, ya know."
