(CNN) - Tea Party favorite Sarah Palin took a practical approach to this grassroots political movement Tuesday, telling Arkansas Republicans that Tea Party candidates will not win unless they join an established political party.
"Now the smart thing will be for independents who are such a part of this Tea Party movement to, I guess, kind of start picking a party," Palin said at an Arkansas GOP fundraising event Tuesday, according to CBS News.
"Which party reflects how that smaller, smarter government steps to be taken? Which party will best fit you? And then because the Tea Party movement is not a party, and we have a two-party system, they're going to have to pick a party and run one or the other: 'R' or 'D'."
The comments come 10 days after Palin addressed the so-called first ever Tea Party Convention in Nashville, where she praised the decentralized movement as consisting of "real people, not politicos, inside-the-beltway professionals."
"America is ready for another revolution and you are a part of this," Palin said at the Nashville speech.

Sarah, Independant is a political party, and may become the most popular one soon if Congress continues to work how they are.......ineffective and not working across lines. This is coming from a Republican.

I agree that there is a growing grass roots concern over the out of control defecit spending and size of government, not to mention the intrusion into our personal lives. I will vote for canidates not parties and will support those who are anti-establishment, common sense oriented, and defenders of our freedom and soverignty. Looking forward to power shift in 2010!

Whoever steps up to the plate will get their votes. At this time, republicans are closer (and appear to be willing). If the republicans fail (again), they will not have their support.

Why is this surprising? Only a moron would think that the Tea Party is not just an offshoot of the Republican party. This is not surprising.
Really, the fault is with the two party system. We weren't meant to have just two political parties. Try telling that to someone like Sarah Palin, though, who can't name a newspaper and doesn't know what the VP does. I'd be shocked if she knew George Washington was the first president–and he was one of many against a party system.

First she praises them for breaking away from two party politics, then she essentially tells them to join one of the two dominant ones. Sarah has proven, once again, that she has no real platform or core belief system. She is milking the disenfranchised and frustrated middle class for her own benefit.
