Bachmann says Obama leading America into decline

Rep. Michele Bachmann blasted President Obama's economic policies Friday.
Rep. Michele Bachmann blasted President Obama's economic policies Friday.

(CNN) – Rep. Michele Bachmann blasted President Obama's economic policies Friday and declared he is leading America into a state of "decline" during her 30-minute speech before conservative activists.

"I want to discuss a topic that's been on my heart a lot lately…decline in America," the Minnesota Republican told the crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference. "The concept that has been coming to me over the last few weeks is that the joy of being an American is that we get to choose…our destiny, whether it's decline or it's greatness."

Citing conservative writer Charles Krauthammer, Bachmann said the president has indicted "America for arrogance, decisiveness, divisiveness toward Europe, for maltreatment toward natives, for torture, for Hiroshima, for Guantanamo Bay, for unilateralism, and for insufficient respect for the Muslim world."

"I think we are all going to need a self-esteem course or two after that litany and we can't blame anyone for feeling despondent in the midst of all that," Bachmann quipped. "Decline happens, even to a great nation."

Bachmann also took aim at Democratic efforts at health care reform and cap-and-trade policies designed to combat global warming during her red-meat speech, saying such measures will keep the country's economy on "an unsustainable path."

"We are looking at serious long-term damage to the economy and the well being of our people. We really need to sober up…the only people with the power to change this very bad diagnosis is President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Harry Reid," Bachmann said. "I wonder what the odds are in Vegas of that happening."

I would appear that the Obama bashes have a plan of repeating the same thing again and again in hopes that people will start believing them. America is in the decline however it starts long before Obama took office. America’s decline is evident when our government stoops to using torture, like the terrorist do. When conservatives talk about less government but yet the federal government sticks it’s nose into marriage.

When we have bank that the government states is too big to fail but does nothing for the average American whom America can’t afford to let fail. Republicans will talk about all the money that Obama was forced to spend to stop the rapid failure of the economy partly because we were spending BILLIONS of dollars on two wars, one of which we didn’t have to fight and because someone let bankers get TOO greedy for the public’s good. Where were these GREAT and HONABLE conservatives when we were spending all this money we didn’t have on wars we didn’t need?

Stupid Tea Party voters are so much brainwashed that they going to vote against their own benefits.
Republican never liked social security, medicare or medicaid and as soon as they get upper hand in november, in reconciliation process they will get rid of all entitlement program or will drastically reduce them so that they can give another tax cut to rich and corporation .

"who do you think your're fooling?"

That's actually a good question. See, nobody with a brain in their head is fooled...we know how we got into this mess over the past decade. And th eGOP's base isn't fooled either. They also know their party and Bush were at falut. They just don't care. They've never once apologized or admitted their part in any of it...NOT ONCE. All the CPAC rhetoric is, is the GOP leadership sanctioning their insistence on lying about history in order to justify doing the same things over and over again that have already proven to fail.

    Let's look at the facts:

With a Democrat in office for 8 years we had a budget surplus, unemployment was at 3.9% and the country was unified.

After having a Republican in office for 8 years we became Trillions of dollars in debt, unemployment was up to 8% and rapidly rising, and our country has become about as divided as it was just before the civil war.

I think any idiot can understand that it takes about 8 years to make or break a country. Nothing can be fixed in one year. The Republicans who are spewing all this trash are desperate and simply have no ground to stand on.

Facts are you can't just blame this on Obama.....this was told as inevitable 2000 years ago.... greed and a host of other wrongs have played a role.... but there is Hope...but it won't come without suceeding to God as simple as that.

Ancient Texan and J Williams, neither of you must have been paying attention for the eight years that Bush and Cheney lead this Country into a war based on lies and deceit; doubled the national debt and destroyed the reputation of American in the entire world. The current President inherited a trillion dollar budget deficit; an economy losing 700,000 jobs a month and near collapse; two unfinished wars and a total lack of credibility in the world. The President has had one year to clean up the crisis and the mess your boys created. We are beginning to recover from the decline created by Bush and Cheney. I'll give the current President the benefit of the doubt, especially when the criticism comes from someone of no substance like Michelle Bachman.

Positive criticism is one thing, distortion of the facts is another. When the leaders of a country can spout such comments in public and are still at the helm, we should wonder where we are heading.

American voters must understand what is Cap and Trade before they give their opinion.
It is exactly what happens to American auto industry.
They were not forced ( with help from republican) to make fuel efficient car and look what happens to them consumer went for more fuel efficient car of Japan and Korea.
If we don't force our industry to be more efficient and environmentally friendly than we have to use other nations technology because they will be far ahead of us.

Everyone agrees that Bush screwed up the last 2 years of his presidency, but that has NO bearing whatsoever on Obama's performance. You need to grow up and look at the facts, Obama is destroying this country.
