(CNN) – Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, fired up the crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference Friday morning, declaring President Obama has "lost his mojo."
"He had more mojo than any president that I remember when he was inaugurated a year and a month ago. But now, the master-mesmerizer has lost his mojo," King said to rousing applause. "And if we stand our ground as constitutional conservatives, he's not going to get it back."
King spent much of his fiery speech attacking Obama's efforts at health care as well as Democratic cap-and-trade proposals. On cap-and-trade, King suggested the recent snowfall across the country is the latest reason to doubt those who warn about climate change.
"The liberals, the environmentalists, the extremists, the Al Gores of the world were wrong on the science. Today, we know it," King said. "Sorry Al. But I have got a scoop shovel for you if you want to come anywhere in the 50 states in America. For the first time in the history of keeping records, there is snowfall on the ground in all 50 states. It's tough to make an argument when the evidence is all around us with a snowy white wonder in a crystal cathedral."
A bevy of winter snow across the U.S. does not equate with global warming being a made-up fiction!!! The last time I checked Rep. King does not have a ph.d. in meterology or any scientific discipline to qualify him to speak intelligently on the issues that impact our climate. Changes in our weather patterns will mean warmer summers and potentially colder winters- i.e. more extremes!! Man's influence on these events is irrfutable and for Mr. King to refute it shows how closed minded and "simple" his thought processes are. Of course, this comes from the same political party that actively waged a "war on science" for 8 years, so who should be surprised!
Climate and weather are two entirely different things.
I suppose Mr. King thinks that the unusually harsh winter in the SOUTH is just normal?
With the conservative views on science, it will be interesting to hear them spin Peak Oil when that becomes a reality in the next few years.
all I can think of is Obama dressed like Austin Powers.....groovey baby!
Really....seriously? Have we REALLY resorted to Austin Powers references to describe the state of our nation.
Both parties...are pathetic.
Mr.King you are such an erractic and irresponsible person to speak this way. Why don't you keep your erractic and STUPID comments to yourself. I guess you were only addressing the Conservatives so that explain it. Duh!!!
Keep talking. You may convience yourself....but...you haven't convienced us moderate independent voters. We love em' and will be voting for him and his folks next election.
GOP idea. GOP = gridlock, obstruction, and paralysis. Compared to George W. Bush policies that these wignuts would like to take us back into.
Democrats!! wake up and point back to the reality of life under George W. Bush, which most of you remember pretty vividly. We cannot just allow these wignuts, old white men in the GOP who want to “turn the clock back”.
They talk about cut taxes, how is cutting taxes is going to reduce the deficit which George Bush left us and which President Obama inherited. They have no shame.
