Gingrich's warning

(CNN) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich warned the crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference Saturday that the left is "antithetical to the survival of America."

"I believe we are now in a struggle over whether or not we are going to save America," Gingrich said. "I believe the radical left is a secular, socialist machine so dedicated to values destructive of America that if it is allowed to remain in power…that machine is antithetical to the survival of America as a prosperous healthy country. "

This is a perfect reason why our country today is as divided as it is. It is so truly pathetic that soo many people "crave" lies, slander, and instigation. Is that what our country has come to, seeing who can bring down another person's image and character by ensighting a mob like rebellion and attitude? Is this patriotic? Is this really something that you are proud about and look forward to everyday?

I mean everything has gotten to level of an elementary school playground, and people are proud about it! There is not anything that Pres. Obama has been donig that many others have'nt done before him, yet the past administration called you "un-patriotic" for challenging them about their actions. Now soo many people seem to be soo proud that they fabricate events, figures, ideas, and whatever else just so they can get back the majority in congress and the senate again.

I'm soo ashamed of everyone trying to show how much of a conservative or liberal they claim to be, instead of showing how much of an american we all are with our similarities and differences. We have really hit a new embarrasing low as a society in america when we can see our fellow citizen as a true enemy because of a party affiliation, and justify radical actions again them because of it.

YEAP right.. I was a republican until Bush and Cheney made North America the laughing stock around the world. The reps are the reason we got into all these mess. I will never vote republican ever again... Mark my words.

It's extremely evident now. Everything that the Republicans say is the opposite of reality. Google "1984 doublespeak". Research psychological techniques used to brainwash the masses. Spread the word.

Save the rich he means. The wealthy and big business thrive under the right wing; trickle down in reality is trickle up. If these thugs get back in office, you can say goodbye to a middle class; we will all become serfs to the wealthy.

Newt is joining or has already joined the other hate mongers of the far right. Anything or anyone they happen to disagree with they sek to destroy. Put them in charge and then see what happens to your freedoms - they will be gone. They exaggerate, mis-state and just plain lie to advance their ideas. THEY are the problem.

Mr Gingrich obviously has forgotten how the Republicans bankrupted this country.

As opposed to the religious, fascists zealot on the right?

Political extremes don't serve the country; they drive ratings for news networks and fuel the ambitions of the corrupt.

Newt Gingrich! You've got to be kidding! The Republican Party is really scrapping the barrel now. I expect the party will implode in the next 18 months.

This man has the nerve to call the Democrats unethical, and yet he cannot do anything but play on American's fears, with no solid suggestions on how to help America get back on its feet. It was his party that started the country to go down the tubes. What would he have liked the current administration do - nothing? The Democrats do not want to get involved in everything, but they have had to do that just to salvage what they could to save our country. He has big nerve, and no solutions. He owes those who disagree with him an apology. He is the man who played around on his sick wife with another woman when the wife was dying. Yeah, he is ethical, all right. How dare him attack those who are trying to save this country. He should have no public discourse at all. It makes me sick to see such hypocrits getting the chance to speak out.

Ok then, so I guess pre-emptive war, tax cuts for the rich, warrantless wiretapping, torture, and letting a U.S. drown are American as apple pie. Who knew 2000-2008 was the Gilded Age of America?

This country has been in profound decline since 1981, which is when Ronald Reagan took office. All of our problems date to him and his insane deficit spending. If had made even the vaguest attempt to pay the bills he ran up so profligately, we would have saved trillions of dollars in interest squandered since then. The problems of the country today were created by morally bankrupt Republicans like Newt Gingrich. There's no reason to return the same people to power.

Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Pawlenty, Cheney and the rest of the Republicans are the ones who almost destroyed this country. Now, they need to stand back and let the people who really care about America undo the mess that they got us into over a period of 8 years.

Their cohorts were allowed to run rampant in the government and in Wall Street, where they did whatever they felt like doing with the retirement accounts that were funneled into the large financial institutions that they bankrupt. Those were your and mine retirement accounts!!!! My money and your money and your family's money and your neighbor's money.

Those bankruptcies were the result of horrific deals and "investments" that yielded "future earnings" which never happened, yet, they were rewarded on the spot and in real time for those projected earnings with the large bonuses that we heard about.
9 out of 10 things that Newt Gingrich and republicans brag about when they talk about America have been achieved by Government run institutions.

Those same government run institutions are the ones that set us aside as a highly organized, achievement-oriented, technologically advanced society. The republicans are now whining, because they have been put on notice that they will no longer be allowed to swindle, cheat and let their friends do as they wish with our money. Their fat rich friends, got fatter and richer from the money spent on Katrina, but the services and materials never reached the victims like they were supposed to. Thus, entire, huge parking lots full of trailers were rent-paid for but the victims never lived in them, as just one example.

Then the idiot started a war in Iraq and his despicable vice-president had Haliburton overcharge, and commit fraud by claiming to provide our boys services and materials that they never saw!!!!
What was proven, they had to pay back. The rest we'll have to write-off.

Yeah, they want smaller government, so few people will be around to oversee their fraud and pilfering of the government coffers and those in Wall Street which have our private and public retirement account moneys.

Get back in your hole, Newt, Pawlenty, Romney, Cheney, Palin and the rest of you slimeballs. We are doing the right thing for America without you.

Can anyone name a country that's done well on radical right-wing values? The American "left" just wants to implement the successes of the rest of the civilized world.

You've got to be kidding me. If we as a people look to Newt Gingrich as a source of guidance, then we're truly lost. How about "Rarely ever are radicals, either on the left or the right truly looking after the best interests of the people as a whole, but rather are looking to manipulate the system to further their own agenda.".
Nope, you won't hear that. Just a bunch of bickering partisan babies. ON BOTH SIDES!

Well, I wondered what would be the 7 second sound bite for 2010, and now I know ... it's "Secular Socialism".

We might as well get used to it. Every Republican and every conservative will shout it at the top of his lungs on every talk show and in every media interview. They will be helped by Democrats who'll take their normal position ... DEFENSE !

The modern Right's practices aren't exactly conducive to the survival of America either.

It takes a lot more than just claiming to stand for small government and fiscal responsibility, it takes determination to actually shrink government and stop wasting money. You can't try to tell people who they're allowed or not allowed to love, you can't try to tell women what they're allowed or not allowed to do with their own bodies, and simultaneously claim to respect individual rights and liberties.

Economically, and with respect to the role of government in America, the Left and Right are nearly indistinguishable. Certainly the details differ–the Right wastes money in pointless wars, the Left wastes money in various social programs; the Right wants Big Government to impose a "Christian" morality on society; the Left wants Big Government to "redistribute the wealth"–but both waste money in huge, dripping, gobs, and both want huge, intrusive, government to be a dominant presence in peoples' lives.

Two thirds of all American voters are tired of both the Left and the Right and want to see both ends of the spectrum defeated this November.

    I hope they succeed.

The only thing Republicans can possibly save America from - is themselves - they wounded us in an unprecedented 8 years of incompetence, spending, deregulation, and international isolation.
The dumbing down of America brought this on. There was a time when the GOP stood for fiscal responsibility, no more. Gingrich is a failure. Conservatism, as the new Republicans stain it, is nothing more than manipulating voters fears by lying in order to put themselves in the position where they only enrich themselves. Are people dumb enough to vote GOP again? You betcha

I agree completely with the assesment . This social experiment that the Obama administration has tried has put us on the brink of radical failure. We collectively need to regain our pride regardless of which political party we support.
Our pride in America and in each other is our only defense.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking when I voted: "Let's see...I want to destroy my country so I think I'll vote this way." Well, how much integrity can we expect from a thrice-married creep who left his wife while she battled cancer. He can't save his marriages, so I have no reason to listen to his ideas about saving the country.

The real truth lies some palce in the middle. This left and right stuff is the true destructive force that will distroy America.... That and the American people's short memory of what people like Newt and Jessie Jackson did to this Country, to name a few from years gone by.
