Gingrich's warning

(CNN) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich warned the crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference Saturday that the left is "antithetical to the survival of America."

"I believe we are now in a struggle over whether or not we are going to save America," Gingrich said. "I believe the radical left is a secular, socialist machine so dedicated to values destructive of America that if it is allowed to remain in power…that machine is antithetical to the survival of America as a prosperous healthy country. "

Is pathological lying congenital in right-wingers, or is it the inevitable result of their moral bankruptcy?

Which party has bankrupted the nation with a war that we entered on the basis of a deliberate campaign of lies?

Which party has bankrupted the nation by cutting taxes for the wealthy, a policy that shifted more of the tax burden to the middle and working classes?

Which party's economic policies led the nation to the brink of a second Great Depression?

Which party enacted a full-scale legislative and administrative assault on our constitutional rights?

Yes, "we are now in a struggle over whether or not we are going to save America." Our country is under a full-scale assault– from the extreme right wing. And it is this radical right-wing agenda– the agenda of Gingrich and the other extreme right-wingers who now define the Republican Party– that is "so dedicated to values destructive of America" that it is "antithetical to the survival of America as a prosperous healthy country. "

These comments are absolutely ridiculous. We need people on both sides of the aisle; calling the left "antithetical to the survival of America" is ridiculous. CPAC represents what is wrong with the Republican Party today; it is becoming dominated by the radical conservative element, and the centrists (like me) are getting pushed out. I am sick and tired of nothing but bitter partisanship and finger-pointing.

Whenever people in Congress try to reach across the aisle, they get shot down almost immediately. Take the jobs bill. We have both Republican and Democratic Senators backing the bill. Then our wonderful Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, decides that the bill will take too long for debate. So he cuts most of the bill, and as a result, most (it not all) of the Republican support. We need people working together in order to get things done in this country. Partisan rhetoric, like that spewed from Newt Gingrinch, gets us absolutely nowhere. If anything is vital to save this country, it's cooperation. And nobody is doing a good job at it.

Newt tells it like it is. THink abou it. Over half of America does not pay a time of income tax. The top 5% of Americans pay 85% of the tax burden and Obama and his crowd want to take more from those who produce the most. Wealth redistribtuion. Well, eventually they will take so much that there will be nothing left.

Like Rove, Newt's stealing a page from Goebbels in how he demonizes the Left and Center. His idea (when disected) is to enrich the top 5% even more. Most on the Right are not rich, but don't evaluate what they hear. Reagan and Bush2 set records for deficits after WW2, now the pubs want to blame the other party. Thanks to today's pubs, the middle class has gone nowhere in 40 years but down. The dumbing down of US and education being so over priced are proud accomplishments of Newt and his ilk. He's a pathological liar in the party of serial war. Deregulation of Wall St and similar are the GOP way – look where that put US. Allowing US corporations to move overseas and not tax them heavily enriched execs and enlarged the growing under class. Going far enough Right gets dictatorship. The GOP has weakened the US for a long time in making it dependent on imports, some of which are vital components in our military. Patriots NOT!

How can the 300 Million People let 10K people tell them what to do?
How can 10K CPAC members – know what is best for 300 Million people?
You got to ask yourself why do we allow 10K CPAC members control 300 Million U.S Citizens? I thought the days of slavery and oppression were over.

If you Mr. Republican are in bed with them, you will not get my money or support any longer.

I believe the correct statement is that the CPAC policies are expressing or constituting the complete or exact opposite to the prevailing mood of the country.

CPAC – you do NOT speak for me!

This poor political has-been needs to fade from view. His divisive politics has done sufficient damage over the past fifteen years. He should try dancing with the stars like his buddy Tom.

Oh gawd, here go again...more 'if you're not conservative, not GOP, you're un-American." Yep, let's continue to alienate Americans who don't occupy your part of the political spectrum. It does wonders for this country.

The Republican Party dumped it's principles when it became the party of big business. Both the Democratic and the Republican leadership are so craven in their pursuit of Wall Street's favor they have lost all sight of what i means to represent ordinary people. We need a third party..or, may the Tea Party people have it right, and we need to take over one or both of the existing parties, and throw the "insiders" out.

I believe the radical Right is a secular, global corporate machine (mob) so dedicated to cash values destructive of American middle class that if it is allowed to continue to infiltrate our Courts and Congress that machine is antithetical to the survival of America’s middle class as a prosperous healthy people. The gang of five secular corporate loyalist on the Supreme Court have created a graven image in the form of a “fictitious legal person” and call it “Corporation’ and bow down to by giving it a voice of gold to influence lawmaking and human elections.

Here we go again with the same old Republican campaign of fear and flag.

It is sad that the Republican party has to bow so low as to make fun of and demean fellow Americans be it even of different parties. I think most of the Americans are sick and tired of the BS going on in DC and also with our news media. It scares me of what will happen to America if we allow all this hate to continue.

I am disgusted with Newt Gingrich's comments. In the mid-1990's, he wrote that the Republicans should spend all the money such that, if the Democrats won, there would be no surplus for their programs. Both Republicans & Democrats are good Americans. His suggestion to the contrary is an affront to me & all Democrats. My husband served for 20 years as an officer in the USAF. He put his life on the line, he dedicated his time, effort & talents in service to our country. During the Reagan & Bush administrations, tax cuts to the wealthy increased, federal spending increased & the size of the federal government increased. I fail to see how most Republicans are fiscally responsible and I fail to see how they care about the average American citizen. He has no right to criticize Democrats. President Obama inherited the most dire financial crisis since the Great Depression which was largely created by the Republican administrations through reckless spending & tax cuts & deregulation & appeasement to earn votes. He dares to expect that the President can solve such huge problems in one year! President George W. Bush probably spent over one year on vacations! Newt reminds me of that vile Republican politician from Georgia who cruelly & inaccurately called the Democrat candidate Max Clellan a "traitor" when Mr. Clellan was a Vietnam veteran & was a tri-peligic confined to a wheelchair. Do the Republicans know no shame? Do the Republicans have no honor? The only Republican left that I believe has honor & conviction is Rep. Ron Paul. All the other Republicans are lost souls, it appears to me.

    Hey Newt,

You think that the "left" (which is more an imagined fear than a reality in our politics in this country) will destroy America?
You think that the "left" is dedicated to destroying american values?
    Well, maybe your party's america.
But we all know full well that this country is not just for the right wing conservatives, but for other people too.
Does their vision of america look like yours?
    Probably not.
Does that mean that if other people's ideas about this country are allowed to be heard and acted upon that it will mean the destruction of america?
    No it doesn't.
So what pray tell do you mean Newt?
Does the "left" have such radical ideas, that if they got their way then america would cease to exist?
    No again buster.
So, other than fearmongering your base, what in fact is it that you are trying to say?
    Do you even know?

It sounds to me that Gingrich is advocating the overthrow of our elected government. The anti-government right wing conservatives are no better than the Taliban. Their goals are the same.

It's rhetoric such as this that caused the deep divisions in our Nation. They think they have all the answers. All I can say is that when they had their chance, they blew it BIG TIME. Their self indulgence and condesending attitudes are why people have left the gop in droves. This is why CHANGE was voted for in 2008.They spew their haete liturgy and expect Americans to blindly follow-again. I DON'T THINK SO.
