Gingrich's warning

(CNN) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich warned the crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference Saturday that the left is "antithetical to the survival of America."

"I believe we are now in a struggle over whether or not we are going to save America," Gingrich said. "I believe the radical left is a secular, socialist machine so dedicated to values destructive of America that if it is allowed to remain in power…that machine is antithetical to the survival of America as a prosperous healthy country. "

Gingrich is dead wrong. The only people who are destroying America are Republicans who drape themselves in the flag, talk about God and moral values – all the while shredding the constitution, bkessing huge corporations with tax breaks and deregulation... and putting the screws to ordinary citizens.

They get away with this because they use the bible and the flag and utter the words "Constitution" every few seconds. Stupid and gullible Americans support them because they believe in the message... but they don't realize that the messengers are not practicing what they preach. They are only using well-meaning folks for their own gain. Republicans hate freedom. They want to impose their fascist ideology upon the whole country. Underneath their talk about God, Flag and Country they are nothing but fascist dictators...

    Be afraid, America...be very afraid...

Yeah...he's right...we'd better get those strong conservative types back in office and quick. At the moment, we're getting closer and closer to recovering from the disaster that was the last eight years of "conservative" leadership.

Don't worry conservatives, when the time comes, we will not forget what got us to where we've been for the last 1.5 years – and it wasn't the radical left "secular, socialist machine ."

Gingrich was swept off the scene not by Democrats but by the very same GOP he now would love to lead. By overplaying the Monica Lewinsky scandal, Gingrich so mismanaged the political moment that his party actually lost five House seats in the 1998 election - the worst midterm outcome in nearly a century for a party not holding the White House. This catastrophe came in the wake of a tsunami of national disgust after Gingrich effectively shut down the federal government in a budget dispute, telling reporters that he was playing hardball with President Clinton in part because of having been "snubbed" on Air Force One, where he was assigned a seat at the rear of the plane.
Gingrich had to pay a $300,000 fine after his colleagues in the House voted to reprimand him for ethics violations.

The Republican Party reminds me of all the TV reality shows that have recently infected the air ways the last few years. Their party is not based on real facts or ideas .... but falsehoods and lies. They have become the standup comics of politics. They joke and lie their way around all the troubles and problems of the Nation, with no solutions or ideas ..... just negative jokes. I'm reminded of my high school days in the 60s when the click groups would stand in the hallway and make jokes and name call all the students they did not like. The rest of CPAC are very insecure individuals that have to strike out at everyone because of their own fears. I hope this group is slowly eliminated from the political picture so the USA can start to heal again!

Yeah, we should go back to Bush's values of gutting all our regulatory agencies, including food and meat inspection, cutting funding for parks, schools and libraries, while ignoring the EPA and firing scientists and doctors to be replaced with corporate insiders. Also, we did so well with letting corporations lead the very agencies that were supposed to regulate them, including banks, mortgages, and the Food and Drug Administration. Plus those values of planning wars for him and his cronies to make money off of, and then finding reasons to start them. Oh, and arresting anyone who attended any event he was at that had a pro-Democratic shirt or hat or bumper sticker. And don't forget dropping funding for AIDS prevention if condoms or safe sex were mentioned – its abstinence only for people with true values. Yeah, trying to create a chance for everyone to have a good life, share with people and care about them, give people a chance to have a good job, good education and good health care while saving the environment from corporate pollution, that's REALLY terrible. Get your Bible out and guns cleaned, and close the gate to the nation, the community, and your house. Hunker down and keep being afraid of everyone who is not a white Christian male with lots of money. Cause all those OTHER people are just lazy heathens who are trying to freeride off your amazing contributions that have outdone everyone else and made the entire world the perfect place that it is.

I had a good laugh at these comments by Gingrich – we had 8 years of conservative rule and what happened – tax breaks were giving to companies as they outsourced jobs overseas (because it was good for the Global Economy – what about US first?). Is it any surprise that we have the highest unemployment in 25 years?

They take Conservative to the extreme – against any new technology – getting into Green jobs – all these new jobs are being generated in Europe and Asia. Go visit cities in Europe and Asia, see all the new consturction with advanced windows, colling and heating systems. New mass transit systems. We are supposed to be the wealthiest country in the world – why isn't any of this going on here?

What happened to all the companies that used to be in the US that develop all the new technology (like Bell Labs). You know where – they were bought out by a French company. Why has this going on?

Contrary to what Mr. Gingrich might say, the left actually cares about the survival and well-being of all Americans–not just big corporations and the wealthy.

America's values were never about the freedom to acquire as much as humanly possible to the detriment of others, the environment, and morality as a whole.

You know....they're sounding more and more like communists....not Republicans, or socialists...EVERY day!!! Good for America? Only Republicanism is good for America? Look what they've done to this country— Republicans have brought it to its knees!!!!

Absolute, total B.S. I am sure that people on the left feel EXACTLY the same way about the extreme right. And I am also sure that neither is out to destroy America. What is clear is that we, as voters need to reject the extreme right AND reject the extreme left. Pragmatic, centrist politicians, be they from the Republicans or Democrats, is how we will get things done and improve our country. We all must reject CPAC rhetoric just as we must reject Pelosi rhetoric.

Typical of Republicans – they must run on fear fear fear and when that doesn't work, just toss in Fear !! I'm so sick of what Republicans have become, they are the anti everything party – just make me rich, let me keep it all and to hell with the rest – just keep baggin my groceries, pumping my gas, serving me dinner, do my laundry – but please don't ask for anything in return – we as a nation are only in danger of being destroyed by the hate this party runs on – very sad for us as a former powerful nation

so, Gingrich seems to think that ANYONE who is not in his rabid-right camp is the ENEMY and out to destroy America.

I like it, as this kind of whacke-dout ranting will keep the GOP in thir position as "Party of NO", and OUT of power

Did they pass out white hooded robes to all attendees at the CPAC confernece this year? Beacause the faux outrage is unbelievable. Obama is trying to "kill" America? No, actually – he's trying to save it from 8 years of George Bush.

It's a pretty pathetic commentary when Republicans believe that some 50% of the population of this country does not deserve to have differing opinions on the course of our country and that, as a result, we are therefore "antithetical" to the survival of America.

The largest political scandals of the last century and a half (TeaPot Dome, Watergate, Iran-Contra) have all occurred under Republicans. Dozens of "non antithetical" Republicans have gone to jail for felony crimes in these events so demoralizing for the country––and yet Republicans would have us believe that their poop doesn't stink and that only they are "true" Americans.

Maybe all the true-American-Republicans ought to move to Texas and start their own country ala Rick Perry's desires....Texas would be the envy of the Third World in two years.

Anyone that thinks eight more years of Bush and corporate greed run amock will do America good needs to get their head examined. I used to think these guys in the GOP were just stupid, but now I think they are crooks. If the last eight years can't drill the facts into someone's dense skull, nothing could. These guys know exactly what slime bags they are, and they don't care.

The Republicans forget so quickly who spent 8 years putting this country in its current economical condition. Even Obama can't turn that amount of damage around in one year of office so give him time. It took someone with balls to even take on the challenge of being President at a time like this.
