New York (CNNMoney.com) - President Obama unveiled a $950 billion proposal for reforming health care Monday, and promised that the plan is fully paid for and would even reduce the deficit over 10 years by $100 billion.
The new plan is a compromise of the House and Senate bills passed last year.
The White House cost estimates were based on Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates of Congress' bills. The CBO, however, will not be doing a separate analysis of the president's proposal, at least not unless it is formally introduced as a bill at some point.
The president's proposal aims, among other things, to subsidize health insurance coverage for a majority of the roughly 45 million uninsured Americans and to guarantee insurance coverage for anyone regardless of health status.

I say if it takes reconciliation, so be it. It is time for Obama to stand up to these bullies and say "I'm in charge". I have appointed republicans to my cabinet. I have made concessions, I have reached across the aisle and all you want to do is talk about beating my butt in the next elections. Let the rich pay for it. They have danced for 20 of the last 29 years and now it's time to pay the band and the band's name is WORKING CLASS AMERICA.

How will a bill promising to insure the unisurable (pre-existing cond.) and subsidize 45 million others not cost everyone else money? Simple, it can't.
Everyone who currently has insurance will pay more. If your company pays for it, your next raise will be smaller or non-existent. Your deductible will go up and so will your co-pays.
I believe it 22 million of the 45 million CHOOSE not to be insured... so they do not need a subsidy. I feel deeply for those who medically can not get insurance, and pray for all of them. But insurance is NOT a health care program it is a RISK MANAGEMENT program. Like Homeowner or car insurance.
Obama should sit down with his "experts" and determine a way to get them in a government health care program. I bet we could do that for less tha a trillion dollars. And not raise my premiums.

Leaves a net of 850 billion we need to figure out how to pay for.
Safe to say.... DC's costs are never come in where they say they will....pretty safe to realize the end cost will be more.....
We just raised the limits on how far in debt we can go as a nation.... Nothing has gone as planned from the stimulus to the bail outs.... Exactly how many home owners have been helped?
Let the rich pay for it.... Ok, I am game for that one. But...who is going to tell all the rich people's accountants to avoid the tax shelters and loop holes and all the other fancy ways they have to keep their own money.
I mean...really....do you think Oprah pays on all that cha-ching she makes every year? Or...do you think she pays some of that cha-ching to her fancy accountants to help her out? Mmmm......
More of same, another attempt to let the all knowing, all benevolent government take over healthcare. Government is unable to run anything properly. Everything managed by the government is now, or will be shortly, BANKRUPT. The Republicans should tell the President and his party that you choose to join with the 58% of Americans that don't want this healthcare takeover.
Given the figures that he gives it will take 100 years just to pay off
1 trillion of the debt. What about the other trillions of debt we have

Very wise indeed. Prez O is attempting to use resources already on hand to fill a very important need in our society. If only the repubs would lend a hand in support in at least the attempt in finding solutions... Solving the healthcare problems that have been clearly identified by the Prez and others outside his administration should have been the beginning of a bi-partisan effort to address this social ill... No pun intended. Not the continuation of the ridiculous bickering we hear constantly from the Repubs.
I sure hope they can grow up and team up for the sake of the people... and stop thinking only of themselves.

How about this? The money that is now diverted into the pockets of insurance company executives and shareholders instead gets dedicated into delivery of healthcare to the sick?
