Romney: November still a long way off

Mitt Romney says conservatives shouldn’t be ‘counting (their) chickens before they hatch.'
Mitt Romney says conservatives shouldn’t be ‘counting (their) chickens before they hatch.'

Washington (CNN) - Conservatives are jubilant about their prospects for this fall's midterm elections, but former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney - fresh off a rousing performance at the Conservative Political Action Conference - is urging them to temper that optimism.

"If the election were held today, I would anticipate Democrats would lose office and so would the president, but a week is a lifetime in politics," Romney told USA Today in an interview after his CPAC speech last Thursday. Video of the sit-down was posted on Monday.

"By November, things could be very different," said the Republican, who is plotting a second White House run in 2012. "We conservatives can't start counting our chickens before they hatch. We got a long way to go before November. And 2012? My goodness."

"A year ago a lot of people thought President Obama was going to be a three-term president like FDR, and now he's going downhill faster than Lindsey Vonn," he joked, name-dropping the Olympic gold-medalist skier.

Don't talk about issues or solutions or anything.

Campaign 2010 and Campaign 2012 kicked off for these GOP jerkwads on January 20, 2009 and they've done NOTHING BUT CAMPAIGN since.

You are a fool Mr. Romney. Obama will be re-elected and Nov won't be nearly as bad for Dems as people think. The tea-party loons and C-PAC idiots are reminding Americans why we don't want the GOP or their side-kicks back in the White House or in Congress.

Romney will NEVER be elected. the Christian community does NOT trust him. they think he belongs to a cult. it's his own kind that will prevent him from winning. The Religious Right will be against him the most! Most on the right don't believe Mormons are true Christians. Romney is the biggest fake, phony. I don't trust him! the USA being such a Christian nation,(supposedly), Romney doesn't stand a chance. and he's so clueless it's his own fellow Religious right-wingers who will prevent him from ever being elected. besides he's a bigtime RINO!!

Way to go Mitt--- You idiot! Lindsey Vonn went downhill and won for America a "GOLD MEDAL" and if President Obama is going down faster than Vonn then he will have a double gold medal which sums up to eight years in the White House. This is the Problem with the Republicans, they all talk through their hats then go on FOX TV and try to repair the damage done.

Romney stands for nothing other than trying to win elections, look at how many times he has shifted positions. I would not trust him on anything.

Doesn't help your credibility to be an obnoxious, insulting joker there, Mitt. Your comments may warm the heart of the teabaggers but it does nothing for the ordinary working-class people who are hoping our President succeeds in getting America out of the mess your GOP left us with over the past 8 years. I fear the corporate jets flying into our government buildings though when the Bush tax-cuts expire next year. All Americans practice ducking (you know, like Bush did when that Iraqui journalist threw his shoe at him). Rich people don't like paying taxes!!!

Jane/Seattle: This is still a capitalist country.

The Obamessaiah and his Socialist apparitiks are being handed their heads by the American People in every election.

Listen carefully now, Jane: WE DON'T WANT YOUR SOCIALISM! NEVER DID AND NEVER WILL!

The recession is over as of the fourth quarter of 2009 and unemployement is declining. People are going to feel better about the economy and they will be grateful to Pres. Obama. Timing is everything.

By the way, since when is Romney a conservative? He may say he is, but his record speaks otherwise. Being conservative by MA standards is still being very liberal by national standards,

    @Prospering Pete: Don't be silly.

Ron Paul is nothing more than a new Lyndon Larouche. He is on Osama Bin Laden's side in the terrorism war. Go surrender to America's enemies by yourself, but don't take us with you.

Romney would be a perfect successor to Bush Jr. as a Republican President. Another trust funder whose last name entitled them to political power, who never had to pay a bill with their own earned money in their entire life. Yeppers, the new Republicans sure look like the old ones.

America does not deserve President Obama, the way they never understand President Carter also.
I suggest President to step down and let this independent voters give us another eight years of hell from republican party.
and than we will have real revolution.

Mitt Romney spent millions of his own money to get the gop nomination then quit. He also lied about his being an avid hunter. He said he was against gun control and abortion but it came out during the campaign that when he was running for governor of Mass. he wasn`t so against those things. Romney this is not a game. Enjoy your family and your wealth before your neocon "friends" destroy this country.

9 more months of GOP NOTHING will not get them elected. If you are doing nothing to fix the problem, you are certainly not the solution.

The only thing going down is Romney and the party of NO GOP!

President Obama has the support of those who overwhelmingly
put in in office, and will continue to have their support.

He will be a two-term president.

The teabaggers, wingnuts, chickenhawks (Cheney et all) are the
media's front and center today, which is unfortunate.

DEMOCRATS: Counter attack – start rallying around the country and
provide truth to Americans, instead of the misinformation and lies
    of the loons out there.

I mean it is to be understood that the GOP will pick up seats in November, okay that's a given. Seriously, that is how politics are played in this Country off year political seasons garner a change in Congress. But here is the problem and why the Democrats are loosing seats. They need to get back to the Obama style campaign that got him in office. The people who vote in November are generally the folks who vote all the time in any election. Most folks don't even grasp the impact of voting in midterm elections and these are the most important ones. The average young american generally don't vote until the general election for a President and that really needs to change. The DNC, needs to get out to the young folks and show them how important voting in the mid-term really is!!! I mean sure Scott Brown is holding the seat now, but once a viable canadidate is found to run against him in 2012 he will be out. We all know this to be true!!
