Washington (CNN) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appeared Friday to defend Rep. Charles Rangel, D-New York, over ethics charges that led to his admonishment.
"They have said he did not knowingly violate the rules," she told reporters after thanking the ethics committee for its work. "They did not take action against him. They just said he did not willfully break the rules."
Rangel was formally admonished Friday by the House's ethics committee for violating rules on receiving gifts.

This is a joke, right?
Rangel failed to report taxable income and was assessed more than $10,000 in back income taxes. He received a sweetheart deal from the IRS and was not required to pay interest or penalties on the assessment. While the IRS is allowed to waive penalties if circumstances warrant, it cannot waive interest.
Proposed bill HR 735 would have required that the IRS give the same sweetheart treatment to us ordinary citizens. However, it never stood a chance of passing. Why should a tax cheat be the person in charge of writing new tax legislation? Is this a bit like making a tax cheat the Secretary of the Treasury? Oh wait! We already did that too.
Let the Lady who got her Own Jet and Booze that WE THE PEOPLE pay for ....Defend another Crook.....Go Figure?
Keep him we need his vote and knowledge.

No surprise that Pelosi supports a Democrat breaking ethics rules. Rangel is one of the most corrupt Democrats, yet the Democratic leadership still does nothing. The words corruption and democrat are becoming synonymous.
I'm a registered Democrat, but I'm getting pretty weary of Nancy Pelosi. She doesn't seem to stand for anything but the party line (which is NOT always correct, BTW). She and Rangel are what the party – nor Washington – needs.....career politicians who are only out for themselves. Time for both of 'em to go.
And can we please invoke term limits on both senators and congressmen? It makes no sense that someone can serve in a high political office forever (SCOTUS included), but the president is limited to 2 terms! They should ALL be limited to 2 terms, max.

Is there a Democrat anywhere who does what is best for the country? Pelosi has always been a big mistake as speaker. She is no where near up to the job. As a card carrying democrat, I am embarrassed by the party leadership. One can only hope for the defeat of Pelosi, Reid, Rangel, et al.

Charlie Rangel has selected stupidity when it suits him. I'm guessing he's not the only one in Congress who suffers from the same malady. But that said, it's time for members of Congress, regardless of party affiliation, to live by the law of the land as well as being ethical in all facets of their lives. If this is too much, then I demand that you step aside and let others govern. It's no wonder why Congress' ratings are approaching single digits.

TERM LIMITS! Nancy Pelosi is no leader. How do inept, corrupt people like her get elected? Are the people of her district proud of her? Her standards are way too low for me. She stands by sleazy, corrupt, slimeball politicians like Rangel. Is he still on the committee setting tax policy? This gov't is a joke.

I'm glad to see Nancy Pelosi standing up again to erase any doubt about her priorities as a public servant. She's a Democrat first and an American second.
