Washington (CNN) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appeared Friday to defend Rep. Charles Rangel, D-New York, over ethics charges that led to his admonishment.
"They have said he did not knowingly violate the rules," she told reporters after thanking the ethics committee for its work. "They did not take action against him. They just said he did not willfully break the rules."
Rangel was formally admonished Friday by the House's ethics committee for violating rules on receiving gifts.

history will repeat itself....... this reminds me of the case where [them] folks didn't rest , until they got to "adam clayton powell" this system will gear you for failure if your not one of them..... "there is nothing new under the sun."
They got to stick together. If Pelosi didn't defend Rangel, how could she justify her own little mistakes feeding at the public trough.
If Rangel has transgressed in the ETHICS dept. and guilty of lush resort excursions courtesy of corporations, then let him be punished. But who will cast the first stone? Those benevolent paragons of virtue, Repub members of Congress?? Just last month in their infinite wisdom, the Conservative robed members of the supreme court voted to allow corporations to flood $$ on our most deserving of public servants, via the political marketplace. This ruling was sanctioned under the guise of 'freedom of speech'. My, just when one was gaining faith in our political system.

Ms. Pelosi, do you by any chance live in the real world? Mr. Rangel trying to claim he can't be held responsible if his aides didn't tell him there were gifts involved is solid proof with what's wrong in Congress. No one is willing to take responsibility for their screw-ups.
If this were the only problem he had, one could POSSIBLY argue, "Yeah, well, maybe he ain't so bad." But, given his other ethical lapses that's not even realistic.
Charley, the buck stops with you, my man, whether you like it or not. Republican or Democrat, you gotta dispise the way Congress has evolved into a morally corrupt bunch of bums.

Rangel should be in jail for his tax issues. He should get no retirement funds from the taxpayers either!

Coakleyd: A politician in a "safe" seat with lots of support from bigwig party members, or just historically safe, gets beat by an unknown in the last weeks of the campaign. i.e. Due to her extreme arrogance the first female Speaker of the House was Coakleyd in 2010.

What do you expect from the Speaker of the House who chose to admonish a Wilson even though no policy was broken, yet refused to admonish Grayson, who continually flips the bird to policy on the House floor? It is pure hypocrisy, and she is ruling like a dictator. Last time someone took this "let them eat cake" attitude, they were beheaded.

I remember her speech when she 1st became speaker. She claimed claimed how business would change and how she would oversee the most ethical and transparent Congress in history. Hey, Nancy, we are still waiting!! To back Rangel after all this is shameful and goes against the speech YOU gave in 2006!
Sadly Pelosi (she may not be speaker much longer) and Rangel will both get re-elected!
