Washington (CNN) - The countdown to the Texas Republican gubernatorial primary is well underway, and with only two days remaining, attention is being paid to an unusual source: ABBA.
On Friday, Gov. Rick Perry's campaign released a new Web video with an unusual twist. The spot is set to a modified version of the Sweedish pop group ABBA's 1976 hit "Dancing Queen."
The video targets challenger Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and casts her as the "Earmark Queen." The original lyrics are gone – replaced with a new set performed by former American Idol contestant Stephanie Daulong.
"You are the Earmark Queen, Spend and spend wasting our money, Earmark Queen spend and spend, From the Treasury oh no!" Daulong croons.
The song is set to a series of visual reminders of what the Perry campaign refers to as "Hutchison's fiscally irresponsible 17 years in Washington."
Hutchison's campaign has launched their own set of Web videos leading up to the primary.
On Monday the Hutchinson campaign accused Gov. Perry of "rampant cronyism" and issued their own musically influenced Web video. Entitled "We're Pointing It Out," the Hutchison spot flashes newspaper articles about Perry to the tune of Tina Turner's "Simply The Best."

I hope ABBA sues. Maybe he will give them part of Texas since he doesn't even what it to be part of the United States. WHAT A BUNCH OF CLOWNS ALL OF THE REPUBLICANS HAVE BECOME!
It seems to me since republicans always elect trash they deserve what they get. It is a shame they have to put this crap off on real Americans who are tired of this stuff.
lets make a song for the republicants
a new version of ...You're So Vein.... I bet this song is about you
You're So Lame I bet you think this vote is for you .....you're so Lame.........
Perry wants to sucede from the Union and Hutchison is backed by Cheney. I don't know if our from Texas should be sent home before Texas sucede so they have a home to return or if Hutchinson and Cheney will send them back. To stop this messy mess I'm voting for former Mayor Bill White and remain with the other 49 States.
Swedish. One E. How are you allowed to report when you cannot spell?
Who are the idiots that are supposed to fall for this juvenile cr*p? I'm not a fan of Hutchison but is this guy in grade 5 or something? How about discussing policy in a grown up way? America is broke, millions of families are going bankrupt due to health bills, two wars are going on and THIS is the caliber of political discourse? The ones who should be ashamed are the people who are going to vote for this moron.
I'll take Gov. Perry over Medina and Hutchison.
How low a republican can go. No substance to talk about?
Yikes!!!
I'm sure ABBA wants to be associated with another GOP fascist. I bet the use of the song is illegal.
The irony is that everything both Perry and Hutchison say about each other is true.
Two of a kind: shameless, self-serving panderers to the bloated parasite of big-money sponsors.
The only thing that sucks more than disco is politics.
Cute Rick...so when you and Texas leave the union, Radio Free Texas will enjoy blasting ABAB while your children starve because they have no food...
Can't wait for Rick to come out with his campaign song – Waterloo
tjaman rightfuly questions whether ABBA released the rights for their music to be used or if this jis ust another example of Republicans expropriating other people's creativity to further their own bent, craven and evil ends? Good question since the '80s rock band "Heart" objected to Sarah Palin using their song "Barracuda" at the Republican National Convention. Maybe in the next 24 hrs. we will learn whether Gov. Rick Perry respects the law any better than Palin when it comes to taking the property of others.
You could not even get an american band for this gimmick?
Is he a Dancing Queen now?
A GOP Dancing Queen...would not have expected it in Texas.
Rick Perry is a souless jerk. And I say jerk only so my comment will get posted. First he executed a innocent man, then he fired anyone who asked questions. Now, this is an election between Hitler and Stalin. But I hope the people of Texas take a cue from FDR and pick the less evil.
I don't care for either of them. They are going to get their feelings hurt when "White" wins. I cast my vote two weeks ago.
And I am SURE they got permission to use it. Ya know, being Republican and all. /s
They are BOTH embarrassments to Texas politics....and believe me...that is saying something from the state that George W. Bush dirties everyday by claiming to be a Texan!
Am I missing something? Earmarks aren't when you SPEND money, it's when you get the government to GIVE your state money. If Hutch was an "Earmark Queen," that means she's bringing more money to her state? And why isn't CNN pointing this out?
Abba rules.I'm so glad that their song is being used.
Viva Sverige.
Perry wins in a landslide...bet on it!
Both of these candidates suck. Isn't there a decent independent out there somewher?
