Pelosi on midterms: 'We're fighting for every seat'

Washington (CNN) – Even as her Republican counterpart continues to openly discuss replacing her, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says House Democrats are not yielding any ground when it comes to November’s midterm elections.

“The Democrats will retain the majority in the House of Representatives,” Pelosi says in an interview set to air Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union.

Pelosi adds, “I'm not yielding one grain of sand, we're fighting for every seat.”

The California Democrat told CNN Senior Political Correspondent Candy Crowley that in campaigning for November’s elections Democrats need to be aggressive in explaining to the public everything the party has done.

“So Democrats are ready. We're confident of that - what we have done for the American people. We have to get out there. We've been working hard, now we have to go out. We said we were going to do certain things, we did them. Now we have to go talk about what we have done.”

With the populist anger rising over the last year about the $700 billion Wall Street bailout, an $862 billion stimulus bill that Republicans say failed to deliver the promised job creation, and Democrats’ ambitious plans for comprehensive health care reform legislation, many political observers believe Democrats will face a tough environment in the upcoming midterms later this year.

House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, has not been shy about his hopes for the midterms. Twice in roughly the last week, the leading House Republican has discussed how the chamber might operate differently if he is in charge as the next speaker.

We can win if we stay out the news until we have a rasonable health care package. What is being now should have been done close to a year ago. This has dragged too long and yet it it so necessary. As for the GOPERS who now have ideas where were they the past 8 years- just no interest huh? Now they have ideas!!!

We ALL have the RIGHT to make a change come November BUT, we must weigh our options carefully and apply common sense. We MUST NOT let our emotions run amonk. Ask yourself this: Do you want the American people (including YOURSELF) to go back to having a repeat of the past OR do you want to forge ahead like our founders? We can stay the current course of trying to get out of the hole(s) that were dug and brush ourselves off, OR we can have others push us back in. The choice is up to US. It does not run party lines, it runs by the individuals WE elect! Listen to the people who want to represent you and your American fellow. This time it is NOT about politics as usual and some of the people "serving" in Congress and the Senate know this. Gather FACTUAL information about those running, NOT hearsay and rumors from way-out-there people! YOU HAVE THE RIGHT to vote for whom YOU want to represent YOU, not who your neighbor wants you to side with. Do you want to keep PUSHING the cart, or do you want to ride once in awhile? Sam

To all the haters out there – I PRAY FOR YOU DAILY. I hope that someday you will feel compassion and love for your fellow man...even those that don't look like you. Then you'll feel joy and happiness.

Let's be clear about the current political climate in America: both the Democrats and the Republicans are entirely concerned with re-election! Not one of you elected officials care more about the American citizens who put you office than you care about the office itself. And that's why you politicians can't get anything done! I can get more done scratching my a$$!

If the GOP takes control, even less will get done in congress. You have to admit that the DEMS are trying to do things, but the GOP keeps holding things up. They are truly the do nothing party, and that is their philosophy. They are never for change, it scares them and their rich friends to death.

New Republican leadership.....Palin,Limbaugh and Beck. Now there is change you can believe. Perhaps the country should be split. How about the Democrats running the Northern states,California and some Western ones. Give the Republicans the South,Utah,Wyoming,Nebraska,etc......Have you ever wondered why the South is so much poorer than the North. Keep electing Republicans

I really watch the State of the Union now with Ms. Crowley as host. You actually get questions directed at both sides.

I have good insurance, but still have empathy for those without it that I know. I don't get people against others having good coverage especially with our ranking in the world community. In Paris, France, there is a pharmacy on 'every' corner just about.

I think that all Senators should forego their health coverage until this is ironed out. The Republicans have made their message clear, they don't care about the 'have nots' plain and simple.

The problem is not that they are left or right. The problem is that they are all stupid. We need a change to get some new ideas and some intelegent people into office.

Laughable!! The only thing Pelosi and the Democrats in Congress has worked hard for is the huge power grab of healthcare for the benefit of grabbing a huge voter block of those thast will get free or subsidized care. She has ignored the graft and corruption of those like Rangel and the House is more corrupt than it has ever been! If this country gets back on its feet, it will be because the 2010 elections clean house of all the corruption on both sides. It is time we cancel out these pompous, arrogant power mongers before it is too late and we hold the newly elected members to a new standard. If they take one step out of line, they're out!

Why are people still saying 8 years of republican rule. Liberals must have memory loss, if i recall they have controlled both houses since 2006 and if i do recall again the senate controls the purse and makes the budget.

Republicans ruined the country and now they want to get re-elected. Americans are much smarter than they think. If you want another really big mess elect a Republican. Why don't they clean up their own mess when they leave office. Have they no shame.....

If you watched the Healthcare Summit, the differences in the ideologies was apparent. The Democratic party cares about people while the Republicans want to see all social programs eliminated–been that way since before FDR. I applaud Speaker Pelosi and her diligence. The Republican are masterful in "spinning" their communication message since President Obama took office. Their assertions are a myth, yet they have spun it around hate and fear and many gullible people are buying this. The Republican policies got us into this mess-and the Democrats need more than 13 months to fix it.If the Democrats are to blame for anything, it is for allowing the Republicans to bully them and the American people. For example, the minute these ridiculous assertions about "death panels" came out, they should have been exposed immediately. August, 2009 was bad for this country–it exposed the hateful underbelly of ignorance....and the Republicans planned it that way. Forget bipartisanship–you will never get it with people like DeMint, Bunning, Cantor and Boehner. Do what you were elected to do, come together as a Democratic party, improve your communication message and expose bad behaviour.

Pelosi is urging her fellow dumbocraps to vote for the bill even if it means they will lose their job. How would they lose their job you might ask? That is because the American people are against this bill and they will vote many of the idiots that vote for it out of office. The ignorance and arrogance of Pelosi and Obummie is unbelievable. They are elected to represent the people. Obummie is trying to turn the office into a socialist dictatorship.
