Pelosi sizes up Obama's health care proposal

Washington (CNN) – He may be the leader of the Democratic Party and a former lawmaker himself, but that doesn’t mean President Obama has the seal of approval from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi when it comes to the contours of a health care reform bill debuted by the White House last week.

Asked in an interview airing Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union, Pelosi refused to say whether she would vote for the legislative outline Obama published on the Internet last week.

"I like what the president has done,” Pelosi said of the White House’s efforts to reconcile the health care reform bills passed by Democrats in the House and the Senate.

“I want to make sure that we have - we have 3 criteria for us in the House, Pelosi continued. “Affordability for the middle class. And I think we can do a little better on affordability. I don't know that. We have to examine the language very carefully. Accountability of the insurance companies, and the president is very good on that. And accessibility to many more people. And he certainly is there.

So we just want to make sure the affordability language is as strong as it needs to be.”

After a year of work by Congress, the White House rolled out its own health care reform proposal last Monday. Obama’s proposal draws heavily from the reform bill passed by the Senate late last year before Democrats lost their crucial 60th vote to stop a threatened Republican filibuster. The White House outline also makes some nods to the bill passed in the House.

Why doesn't pukelosi take her botox soaked brain and go home? There are liars on both sides of the isle but obama, pukelosi, and stinky harry (made fun of tourist saying the stunk) all should win the nobel prize for being able to tell a lie every time they open their useless mouths. What part of this congress has an 18% approval rating do they not understand? Well, unless they just don't care. Their sole objective being to just destroy our country!

WE NEED A PUBLIC OPTION!!! Get rid of the mandates, taxes, and anti-abortion clauses. Add in anti-trust measures for the insurance industry.

    VOTE PROGRESSIVE 2010!

Jacksonville Bill-I think if you have been following the Republicans and Democrats on this, they seem to pretty much have the same core of what is in this Progressive Liberal Bill. The problem seems to be that the Progressives then detour hard left with a lot of superfluous BS legislation regarding entitlements for the minority of the populous to be paid for as usual on the backs of the middle class and THAT is where the two Parties deviate. If you don't think that Tort law reform is necessary and will reduce premiums then you have to be unable to see what lawyers have done to our Nation over the last 20 years. I would bet that if you were to follow the cost of healthcare in Florida to the correlating time line of when lawyers became allowed to advertise their ambulance chasing services, you would see the trend of escalating costs for services!
If the Dems pass this crap through reconcilliation, I will wager their wont be a single Dem re-elected in any State other than California, we will NEVER have another Dem in the Whitehouse, they just haven't learned their lesson, the Entitlement Road to Hell is paved with good intentions and bad judgement.

Independents believe in affordable health care, as long as it is affordable to the middle class, i.e., no increase in the budget deficit.

Its notable that Nancy said they do not have a bill. She still thinks they are going to have a new bill that combines the House and Senate versions. NANCY THAT SHIP HAS SAILED!!! YOU LOON!

When I hear Pelosi speak I think of nurse Ratchett from the movie "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest". And it really sickens me to think that this woman could actually fool anyone other than the nutjobs in her district.

I am an American. I want health care reform. I would like to see universal heath care. I would like for the Republics to stop saying that I am against health reform. I do not want them to speak for me. They lie. They DO NOT CARE about the working class of this country. I am so tired of them throwing road blocks in front of health care reform.
I do know it is because they are in the pockets of the insurance companies. It makes me so angry that they are hurting so many of us, while they sit there so smug and safe with the good health care they enjoy.

  9. Sexist's and Conservatives hate her......But Nancy deserves credit for saying, "no" to bigger Coporate Government........

Sexists, Conservatives, and folks from big businesses in America who may not even be American hate Nancy. But Ms. Pelosi represents the American middle class and has consistently maintained her position on those issues. All these conservative folks from many places moan about paying taxes or any proposal for paying taxes. Yet those same folks claim the "lie" fiscal responsibility on American matters. If one taxes and spends (pay as you go) ...versus.... cutting taxes and spending (trickle down economics). It's very SIMPLE to determine which economic policy could bankrupt an American economy. And by coincidence...we've always had a major recession upon the exit of every Republican President after 2 consecutive terms the last 40 years Why is that? It's because they're ideology is to cut taxes for big Coporations who take our money without being taxed. America can see right through all the GOP BS..........

Write and pass a Health Care Plan that would cover all Americans including the members of Congress and the President. Then and only then will the American people get fair and just heath coverage.
Why are the Democratics and Republican proposing a plan that does not cover them? They will not be subject to the rules and regulations of it. If it is to cover the American people let the American people write the bill.
