Condoleezza Rice backs Whitman

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is weighing in on the California gubernatorial race.

(CNN) – Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is weighing in on the California gubernatorial race, announcing Monday she is backing former eBay CEO Meg Whitman's bid for the GOP nomination.

"California is my home and there is only one person running for Governor who can lead the way toward rebuilding our state," Rice said in a statement provided by the Whitman campaign. "In my experiences in and out of government, I find the most effective leaders to be those who maintain a clear vision, mobilize diverse groups, and inspire them to work together in confronting the most pressing challenges.

Rice, the former Secretary of State and National Security Advisor under President Bush, is currently a professor of political science at Stanford University.

Whitman is battling state insurance commissioner Steve Poizner for the Republican party's nomination. A poll conducted late last month showed the former eBay chief with a 17-point over Poizner with nearly 4 in 10 Republican primary voters undecided. The primary is set for June 8.

So Exxon named an oil tanker after Condi Rice and now "big oil" Condi, who lied us into a war with Iraq, is backing another corporate fascist, Meg Whitman. Hopefully this endorsement will be the kiss of death because everyone in California will realize what a big load Meg Whitman really is. Anyone who has ever had a problem with eBay, buyer or seller, knows that eBay doesn't give a flying blank about buyers or sellers. They only care about covering their own behinds. It's almost impossible to contact anyone at eBay if you have a problem, and their "rules" are designed to protect eBay from any kind of liability, and to provide little or no protection for buyers or sellers. Additionally, eBay has increased their fees drastically from the original fee of 25 cents per listing. Why would they do that? Because Meg Whitman is a greedy ruthless megalomaniac who is trying to buy a golden throne in California so that everyone can worship her. Soon we will all have to bow down and kiss her toes.

This person has the nerve to show put herself before the public again? Shame.

But this is good for Jerry Brown, the candidate for CA governor who has a lifetime of experience in many disciplines, including a variety of political offices.

Long ago, Brown wanted California to invest in the space program. Rice wanted to see rockets rain down on innocent Iraqis. Now she wants to subject Californians to Meg Whitman, who believes in fiscal policies that, under the Bush administration, has driven this country to it's knees.

Just what every candidate needs: An endorsement from a card-carrying member of The Bush Liars Club.

If I were crazy ... Go back in history. The dems were in charge of the house and senate two years prior to the meltdown ... so how again is this all GW's fault???

So she's supporting a woman who was fired from her company, and calls her "an effective leader?" Really? I suppose she'll endorse the quitter Palin when the time comes too? And people think that Condi Rice is a brilliant person...gotta wonder.

Meg Whitman must need someone practiced in the art of lying to Congress about the potential threat to the United States from a third world country. Although I did respect Ms. Rice for her accomplishments prior to her stint as Secretary of State, I feel she was a little out of her element in the chauvinistic boy's club of the Bush White House. Somehow I just can't help believing they were more concerned about how HOT she would look in a red dress and spike heals!

The current CA Governor is a disguished republican or a "RINO", because he leads basically in a lock-step, Obummer socialist manner. His government is in fact run by his wife, a socialist democrat. It is the socialist democrappy policies that has finally bankrupted once-proud great state California by anti-big and anti-small business, high tax and high welfare, and high spending policies. I am not a Californian, but I truly feel sad for all Californian. Think twice who can turn around this great state when you cast your vote.

Wow Condi Rice's endorsement should improve Meg's standings in the polls by 0.00000725%. Meg has no chance, thank goodness.

get a clue!!!!! California is in trouble because bleeding-heart liberals have handed out "participation trophies" to everyone for showing up. Time to grow up and return to the era of personal responsibility. Again, Dumbocrats are confusing the massage with the messenger. Didn't MA, NJ give you the message from the voters???

Although I'm a Democrat and disagree with most of her policies, I actually liked Condoleezza because of her background and her intellect. Too bad she got thrown under the bus by the Republicans so many times she probably has tire marks on her back.

The more I see Hillary Clinton on the job ( well okay, Joe Biden sometimes ), the more I miss Condoleeza Rice. She was a qualified professional Sec of State, not a political appeasement appointment.

Anyway, I saw Meg Whitman speak recently and she has some great ideas, is ambitious to do the right things and certainly qualified. I am glad to see this important endorsement.

  24. Intelligent and Educated = NonRepublican

Yeah an endorsement from someone from one of the lowest approvals in history should help a lot.

Whitman, internally, must be saying No Thanks Condi, I don't need your endorsement.

Hey Meg how's Amazon doing against Ebay? If you can't take a promising company and make it a real solid competitor or even the market leader, why should voters trust how you'll lead a state with so many problems?
