Washington (CNN) - The Republican Study Committee organized a "Twitter day" Monday with 68 of their members.
The theme of the day is "My commitment," where the members who have Twitter accounts will send out a tweet starting with, "My commitment is" and then write about which they are passionate.
Rep. Tom Price, who chairs the Republican Study Committee, started the day by tweeting, "My commitment is health reform that empowers patients and not Washington."
The Republican Study Committee is a caucus of House conservatives who advocate for an agenda of conservative principles. The caucus has just over 115 members, but not all of them tweet. Throughout "RSC Twitter Day," the representatives will be using the hashtag "#RSC" to keep track of the tweets.
Another tweet came from Rep. Virgina Foxx: "My commitment: holding Washington accountable for its reckless spending & wasting taxpayers' $. hence my no-earmark pledge."
You moron "real Americans" still don't get it. None of the hare-brained schemes being hatched in Washington by either party to deal with healthcare can possibly succeed for one simple reason: demographics. Guess who turns 65 this year. The first baby boomers. I will be laughing while your premiums double and "hockey moms" and other "real Americans" lose their coverage. Once the whole system fails, we will get single-payer, not-for-profit healthcare like every other developed country on the planet. The boomers will make sure of it, because it's really all about them, isn't it? It'll take about 15 years or so to go through this whole painful process (while the rest of the world laughs at our stupidity). Have a nice day!
Funny. Republicans twitter . . . . Democrats try to fix the country.
No wonder the work for the citizens of this country isn't getting done. Those clowns/jerks are spending all their time (and our money) playing games.
Virginia Foxxxxx needs to be put in front of one of her imaginary death panels. Can't believe the stupidity in her district or why they keep putting that deceptive person back in D C
What a load of howie (I'm trying to be polite).
"Tea Party Tom" Price wants to empower patients; that is, the shrinking number who can afford American health care.
Virginia Foxx wants to stop wasting taxpayers' dollars; well how about declining the ridiculous pay hike Congress is taking, for starts?
Having this bunch of Republican loonies tweeting if this doesn't open anyone who has an intellectual brain that the Republicans are a bunch of lowlifes who only adhere to one principle cover your on rear end. They were in charge from 1984 until 2006 and their own tactics to pass laws getting this country into massive debt now all of a sudden they have a conscience lying bunch of hogwash
The republicans didn't become tech savvy until after the election of President Obama. If they dislike the President so much, why are they using his ideas? This is what I mean by republicans not having any ideas of their "own."
Where was old Ms. Crazy as Ms Fox during the bush administration when spending was out of control? Claims like this from republicans are nothing but a joke at this point – were they comatose 2000-2008? It's all just talk, they surely didn't walk the walk. Just like their claims for smaller government – who was the last – or should I say first – republican president to actually reduce the size of government? It sure wasn't St. Reagan or Bush II.
Wow, look at the Republicans using a little technology to step up their game. Still won't work. I don't care how many tweets you create, if you do not have a solution to the problems, I'm talking about some detail, not your same tired talking points "lower taxes, less government" crap, then no one wants to hear your opinion.
My commitment is: to the lobbyist who pay millions.
"My commitment is health reform that empowers patients and not Washington."
What a load of ideoligical pandering nonsense. Who stands between the abuses and shenanigans of giant insurance companies, overcharging or incompetent doctors, and patients attempting to obtain quality affordable health care? Hint: it's not the magic of randian trickle-down free market economic capitalism...i.e., I'm pretty sure cancer victims are not going to be boycotting treatment just because the insurers jacked up their premiums (although right now they're not getting treatment because the insurance companies rescind the contracts...while jacking up the premiums). Check your history. Freedom is not God-given and is not obtained or defended by taking the position that all you need to happen to ensure your freedom is for you to be "left alone." Your rights are God-given, but you won't enjoy them without a social contract and the government it spawns helping you protect them. Do you not get it? Jefferson's version of democracy is an explicit recognition of those facts: government MUST exist and the people should control it so as to protect their rights. The answer is not "make government go away and rely solely on the free market that is controlled by giant corporations who couldn't give 2 sh-ts about indivduals' rights and don't need to." The answer is making gov't more responsive to us, not accepting it as broken and certainly not allowing it to be so responsive to those aforementioned corporations lest the choice between no government and the government we have becomes a choice with no distinction.
“Men are not born free; they become free by means of Society and the State, which, while limiting the claims of individuals, in reality bestow upon these claims an effectual recognition and sanction, and elevates them from precarious facts to rights whose fulfillment can be confidently demanded.”
-Guido De Ruggiero
PS: If you rolled your eyes because his name doesn't sound American, and you therefore felt comfortable saying "yeah whatever, he's a european socialist" in your head, then you're a retard.
My commitment is to see as many obstructionist (republicans) get thrown out of political office as possible. The previous statement includes everything from U. S. senators down to dog catchers. It is getting hard to tell the difference between a republican and the Taliban.
After what Republican Bunning did I've changed from Republian to Democrat. I've had enough of the crap Republicans are throwing. Enough is enough!
It's fine to do this and advertise, you did this, but the pudding's in the cake will come if you live up to what you promise. Obama promised many things while campaigning, but once in the oval office he had loss of memory, sign of early dementia.
My commitment is to never vote for a Republican again, ever.
Hasn't the Twitter fad died yet ? The Pet Rock of the E-age.
My commitment is to make sure not a single Republican wins in 2010.
Instead of just "tweeting", why don't they work to get some of these things done????????
More dog and pony shows...
The Twittidiots are out in force today! These nuts are so lame. They think this will match the gigantic network Campaign Obama amassed in 2008....Ha! They've latched on to social media outlets thinking that this will make them more relevant to compete and rail against President Obama. Bag on Teabaggers, Bag on!!!!!
Anothet STUPID GOP ticker CNN
