Santorum will make another South Carolina trip

Former Sen. Rick Santorum will make his second trip to South Carolina as he considers a 2012 White House bid.
Former Sen. Rick Santorum will make his second trip to South Carolina as he considers a 2012 White House bid.

(CNN) - He might be an underdog as the 2012 presidential field shapes up, but former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum continues to put in some early legwork as he considers a White House bid.

Santorum will be the keynote speaker at the Dorchester County County Republican Party breakfast in South Carolina on May 22, the group said Monday. It will be his second trip to the early primary state in recent months.

His busy itinerary also includes a speech to the Iowa Christian Alliance next week – his second trip to the Hawkeye State - and a headline appearance at the headline the Cheshire County Republican Lincoln Day Dinner in New Hampshire in late April.

Santorum served two terms in the Senate before losing re-election in 2006.

UPDATE: This is Santorum's third trip to South Carolina, not his second.

Palin/Santorum 2012. The Democratic Party will dance in the streets. It's even better for them than Romney/Thune would be.

those who pray together stay together like purist whities and there so called christian bull .. its like having one fork on the family tree
republicans are in for a suprise in Nov. if we get health care reform and a jobs bill that works and unemployment continues to go down

all this with out one bit of republican help in the government these people have been drawing a salary for over a year doing nothing but lieing and stealing from america . and giving everything to themselves and the CEO'S of big business.... so when all the votes are counted at the november election I hope amewricans have woke up and see the real truth about the republican party of purist whities and old dip sticks ..get all of them out of office :)

Maybe Santorum is hoping to visit SC often enough to claim he resides there and perhaps get the State to pay for his children's college education. He claimed to live in PA and cost the State around $100,000 for cyberschool for his children, who lived in VA. He owned a 3 BR house in PA (for 7 children and 2 adults?) that he visited.

Santorum is also an advocate for tort reform, AFTER he and his wife collected enough money from suing her doctor to purchase their $700,000+ home in VA!

Can a former Senator be sued for malpractice?

I hope Rick Santorum becomes the Republican Presidential candidtate.

This country can either see just how depraved the Republican party has become and further isolate Right-Wing extremism by voting no, or this country can elect this mentally-unstable man, and sow the seeds of it's own destruction.

Either way this country has to decide if it's going to be responsible or go the way of NAZI Germany. It's a toss-up right now.

Probably planning to barnstorm with the GOP's rising star, formerly disgraced governor Mark Sanford. Maybe a trip to hike the Appalachian Trail is in the works.

Oh-boy! We voted this guy out because he was out of touch with reality. His fix for social security is work until you're 72, no kidding. Tell that to Joe the plumber-brick layer-heavy equipment mechanic.
The Dems must be loving this, can you imagine a Palin Santorum ticket, too bad Dumb and Dumber is copyrighted.

Every once in a while I start thinking that maybe the GOP is regaining the sanity it lost a decade or so ago, and then another self-righteous, bible-thumping, neo-con like Santorum pops up again.

It's so frustrating! The GOP is the only defence the US has against the Democrats, but they insist on poisoning their platform with would-be theocracy!

I absolutly hate this guy. People don't forget what he was about when he was in office: He is particularly known for his stances on the U.S. invasion of Iraq, Social Security, intelligent design, homosexuality, and the Terri Schiavo case, He's crazy and he's an idiot.

NEVER. I am from PA, we remember Rick Santorum and everything he did here, and he will NEVER get elected senator here again. And president? HA, HA, HA, HA!! Good luck there.

He was an original sponsor of H-1 legislation that is killing our work force, especially in IT – and for that alone I wish him a special place in hell. He is a tool for the religious right, he wrote a book comparing abortion to slavery. Yeah, he belongs in the same party as Palin. And he'll have just as much luck from here out, too.

He's not just an underdog. He's a dog.

Santorum is about as wild-eyed fringe as it gets. He's a cult "Christian" and as loony as a the day is long. He took his born-dead child home so his family could play with it on the couch for a few hours. This guy would give Bella Lugosi the heebie-jeebies.

How do guys like this get coverage from legitimate news organizations? Is it just the weirdness factor?

This right wing taliban bigot has a good shot at it since the tea baggers and their foolish shouting are heard louder than sanity in this country now, after 8 years of Bush you would think that the populace would have garnered some education as to whats its like to have an ignorant cult activist in the white house.

  22. If I was crazy, I'd be a conservative too

Rick may be able to take a hike on the Appalachian Trail with Marco Rubio of FL. By the way, I was surprised to see that S.C. Sen. DeMint was beaten this year by OK's Inhoufe for most right wing (ineffective and out of touch with reality) senator.

God is speaking to the Repubs.–Santorium is His chosen one.–Obey ! Or is it the devil saying ,"crush the infidel Dems." ? Sometimes hard to tell who's speaking. The devil is very seductive.
