Santiago, Chile (CNN) - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived Tuesday morning in Chile, bringing with her more than two dozen satellite phones and a pledge of U.S. commitment to the earthquake-damaged nation.

"The United States is ready to respond to the requests that the government of Chile has made so we can provide not only solidarity but specific supplies that are needed to help you recover from the earthquake," Clinton said at a brief news conference with Chilean President Michelle Bachelet.

"The people of Chile are responding with resilience and strength," Clinton said.

I just have a question – where were Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Paul McCartney, and all the bleeding hearts and their million dollar fundraisers for New Orleans? And why does America have money for every other nation on earth, but nothing for its own people?

I'm not against helping other in need, but why can't we help our own people who need it?

Oh, one more are we going to pay for it? Are we going to borrow money from China so that we can give it to Chile? Maybe it's time to start saying "sorrow, we're out" until we get our finances in order.

She'll probably accuse them of something sinister and we (the government, I mean) will have to send another "special envoy" to smooth the waters.

Honestly, we should attach the proviso that they stop looting and making things worse. Juxtapose Haiti and the relatively calm manner in which they handled their crisis and it's almost disturbing.

By God I have the answer, ship Haitian workers to Chile to provide paid manual labor in rebuilding that country. They could then go back to Haiti with some of their own money in their pockets and some learned on the job training and re-build and help pay for their own island Nation. If they needed further assistance, America could round up and send all the illegal immigrants to train them on how to in the construction business!

I knew there was a logical answer to all this, God Bless America!

  16. Spread the Wealth

Why don't all the liberals in Washington and all the Liberal movie actors send money to Chile. They are always the one who want to spread wealth. Sorry, but if the same thing happened int his country, who would help. Chili, Haiti? Nope.
When Katrina hit the USA,,,, what country gave supplies, help or anything of any major amount. None. Why do we always have ot be the ones who rebuild, help and take care of countries when they have a natural disaster? For every dollar the USA sends Chile, we should get it paid paid in goods and services, or cash.
