White wins Texas Democratic gubernatorial primary

(CNN) - Former Houston Mayor Bill White has won the Democratic nomination for Texas governor, according to a CNN projection.

With 7 percent of precincts reporting, White lead the crowded field with a commanding 76 percent of the vote, more than enough to avoid a run-off on April 13.

Former Sanctuary City Mayor Bill White doesn't have a chance against Rick Perry.

God Bless our Houston Police Officers that were killed by illegals aliens. Former Houston Mayor Bill White claimed he didn't make Houston a sanctuary city for illegals aliens, but we living here know better.

    @ M Smith,
And what a job they have done! Time to start fresh and throw all the incumbents out and start with common sense everyday people.

    Great!

White is the best Dem candidate we will have in the general since Ann Richards.

White will give Perry a run for his money. I actually think KBH would come closer to beating White than Perry will. All of Houston, Dallas and Austin went blue in 2008 and with White being a formal and competent mayor from Houston, that is 1 of the 3 in the bag. Dallas is KBH country and the country rednecks/secessionist/racist tea baggers are Pompadour Perry's base.

Should be fun for a change in TX come November!

Oh boy howdy. Just what Texas needs and the nation needs: another socialist pacifist big spending liberal who is just a clone of Obama. Hopefully, Perry crushes him and Texas kicks many Dems out of the legislature as well as the Congressional delegation there.

Bill White was an outstanding mayor in Houston. When he stood up and said that Houston would take in all the Katrina refugees that came, it was a proud day for all Houstonians. The man concentrated on making things work, and work better. His results weren't perfect, but they were the best we had in many years. Meanwhile, Rick Perry was cozying up to the fundamentalist, extremist Christians, the Tea Partiers, and always putting politics and favoritism above honesty and competence.

Now the question is can White compete with the kind of dishonest and sleazy campaign that Perry will inevitably run.

Please let me change the subject for a minute. To all those thousands of writers who put down people who collect unemployment as being lazy and living off the fat of the land....There is nothing more heartbreaking than not having a job and trying to feed a family and pay bills on unemployment money. It is not that much and they don't just hand it out. You are required to report as to what jobs you applied for, how many, where, results etc. It is almost dehumanizing, so don;t get "smarty" about them lying around, living it up. If you think this, you've obviously never been there. Please print this for the "know it alls". Thankyou.

Reagan turned around a worse economy in the early 80's than Obama had by doing 3 things: 1, he cut and simplified taxes; 2, he cut regulations which cost businesses money; 3, he cut government spending as much as possible. The economy rallied (grew) for 20 years. Obama and the democrats are doing the exact opposite. I'm afraid if we put democrats in government, it will continue to move the economy down. They have controlled both houses of Congress for several years, and you can see where it has gotten us. Go Rick Perry!

I will also vote for Bill White to keep Texas a State and the home of our U.S. military troops who are serving in the Middle East, they deserve that and not a leader like Perry who has forgotten Texas military is part of the United States of America.

I feel like I am surrounded by idiots. Most people in Texas either are rich or toothless...thus leaving us with this thing called Rick Perry.

As a Californian, I am pulling for Perry. A secessionist leading Texas is just what America needs.

Don't y'all let the door hit ya in the ass on yer way out!

A real Democrat will be a breath of fresh air, he will do wonders for the state of Texas.

Perry is a shameful excuse for an American.

so rewarded because of that 'superiority' for things they know to be
the same iniquitys and whole reason is you can't do it. the actions
    say a lot more.

we all don't like iniquity but we don't sponsor/campaign with it for
concepts. 'baby went in womb, spent time there, came out, people were
involved, people created the conception' people went in belly of
beast, people came out of belly of beast, people were involved, people
created the conception and separate fact of the 'artificial
superiority' responsible for the same allowed iniquity and used for
    iniquity.
so is it not about the babys coming out then? are they rewarding??? they weren't rewarding enough? u say the conception is bigger than you, is it the people responsible for the conception?

People look at Texas now and just think of them as hillbilly racists, not heroic cowboys anymore.I spoke to people overseas that said the same thing. They said they wouldnt visit here now or do business here, thanks to Bush and Perry.

Republicans should not get cozy because as has been witnessed, the democrats have been pretty awesome in lighting up their support base... in general, i think Perry and the republican party should not take bill for granted.
