Palin takes turn as late-night comic

Palin tried her hand as a comedian Tuesday.

(CNN) - Forget about her possible White House ambitions. Is Sarah Palin angling for a career slinging jokes on late-night TV?

Appearing on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Tuesday, Palin, whom Leno called a "new comedienne from Wasilla, Alaska," tried her hand at delivering a monologue.

You can decide for yourself if Palin should stick to punditry and politics.

Her quips after the jump:

"Alaska is so different from Los Angeles. Here, when people have a frozen look on their face, I find out it's botox."

"It is so warm and beautiful. Back home it was freezing - it was five degrees below Congress' approval rating."

"Shaun White on the show. What an amazing athlete. I watched him do a double McTwist 1260. The only other people to do a double McTwist 1260 was last week, the White House, on health care."

"How about that amazing, closing ceremony. It was beautiful. The minute I saw that giant moose, I remembered I hadn't cooked anything for the kids' dinner."

"I've been really busy. I picked a gig in Las Vegas at the Legends Show, playing Tina Fey."

"The truth is I am glad I am not vice president. I would not know what to do with all that free time."

Palin then sat down for an interview. She talked to Leno about having been caught with notes on the palm of her hand during a recent speech. Dubbing the move a "poor boy's version of the teleprompter," the former Alaska governor said it was a tactic her father had taught her.

The onetime vice presidential nominee also reiterated her belief that the media has unfairly targeted members of her family.

"Yes, a line was crossed," she said. "I'm still waiting for that line to be uncrossed: Just some common decency, allowing the kids to not be, I guess, the victim in all this because they certainly don't deserve it."

She apparently delivered the same tired jokes Leno would deliver night after night.

She doesn't need to do standup to be funny. All she has to do is a try to answer 4th grade questions

Wow! Do you mean the comments about seeing Russia from her backyard, abandoning her governorship, writing notes on her hand and all the other shenanigans weren’t jokes? Do you mean she was being serious all the long………? You mean she is not a comedian? I think I have been had. I got a joke for you-- Some of you idiots voted for her…… Ha! Ha ! Ha !

I think Sarah may finally have found her home. She has entertained America for nearly a year, keeping us laughing and feeling good about ourselves by reminding us that her life is worse than most of ours could ever be.

Her ego seems to be coming along well, and growing everyday. Hopefully she will still run for president in 2012, entertaining us once again by inflicting a serious beat down to the Republican party.

And "some" people actually took this woman seriously as a possible Presidential or VP candidate??? Uh huh, right! She's nothing more than a wanna be "reality star" cashing in on her 5 minutes of fame. She needs to go home and take care of her family. She should have enough money by now! What a joke!

And Republicans really thought this woman could lead the free world?

Mrs. Palin needs to move on, if she expects the public to take her seriously. Mrs. Palin is always going back to the same issues and topics...how her family was attacked and blah, blah, blah. It's like a bad relationship, you know it's bad for you, but you keep going back for more abuse. Go back to political college Sarah Palin.

I thought she did fabulous last night on Leno. The story has it wrong (a little minor detail); she sat down with Leno for two segments and then he asked her if she would do a standup routine, she then left the stage and he introduced her again.

I thought her jokes were funny and her delivery was pretty good as well. She did what all comedians try to do, make fun of others but also throw in a few jokes about yourself.

    Good job Palin.

She LOVES the spotlight...what does doing stand-up on Leno have to do with her political career?!

Shame on Jay Leno for cashing in on this empty pseudo-public figure, who herself cashes in endlessly on a celebrity status that does much to cheapen political discourse in the United States. And once again, shame on John McCain, and the whole troupe of speechwriters, ghost authors, groomers, and handlers who continue to prop her up as a dangerously political American Idol. Sarah Palin has nothing to contribute except a sly vindictiveness that, to the extent that it is effective, endangers the real and serious business of this nation. Unless and until she arrives at her first substantive idea (don't hold your breath), she should be ignored. This is just what Jay Leno did not do. I won't be watching whatever he does next.

Ya know, the jokes weren't bad. Maybe she could run for a late night spot next time Jay want's to stick his chin in prime time.

What a waste of time to watch Palin on Leno. Pretty boring stuff. She's only interesting when she makes a fool of herself. Otherwise she's just her usual snarky, snipey self. Thought it had been pretty quiet lately on Palin news. She was in deep preparation memorizing her lines for Leno.

The voters didn't decide if Palin should be our vice president, the media made that choice for us and destroyed her chance of ever being elected.

  25. PULEEEZZZ!! lets tell some truth

As a comedienne, her stupidity wont help bring this country down. If she doesn't want her kids 'victimized' as she says, she wouldn't have brought them along for the ride, or preached ABSTINENCE with a pregnant daughter. Sarah continues blaming others for what happens to her in her life.. Very republican
