'Most Wanted' locks up Obama exclusive

America's Most Wanted host John Walsh taped a 15 minute interview with President Obama.

America's Most Wanted host John Walsh taped a 15 minute interview with President Obama.

(CNN) - President Obama will appear on "America's Most Wanted" with the show's host John Walsh this Saturday to commemorate its 1000th episode.

According to Deputy White House Spokesman Bill Burton, the president taped a 15 minute interview in the White House's Map Room with Walsh on Wednesday morning before delivering remarks in the East Room.

The president used the interview to congratulate Walsh on his show's success, but also to tout his administration's own anti-crime initiatives.
In clips released by "America's Most Wanted," Mr. Obama tells Walsh that last year's "huge economic crisis" raised great concern about the possibility for lawlessness to follow.

"One of the things we were most worried about was how this would this affect law enforcement. Because you started seeing state and local budgets hemorrhaging and there were the prospects of tens of thousands of cops on the streets being laid off." Mr. Obama said, crediting the White House for preventing that from happening.

"What we did was working with state and local governments, got four billion dollars in additional funding so that we kept those law enforcement officials doing the great work that they do each and every day," Mr. Obama said.

For John Walsh, "America's Most Wanted" is a personal crusade. He began hosting the show 22 years ago after his 6 year-old son Adam was abducted and killed in 1981.

Mr. Obama told Walsh, "I know Adam is looking down on us, and saying you know, my Dad has really done something incredible."

President Obama tried to personalize his own commitment to fighting crime by pledging "to do everything in our power as long as I'm in the White House, and as long as I'm the father of two girls, to make sure that we are providing the states the support that they need to make this happen."

"America's Most Wanted" claims responsibility for capturing more than 1,100 fugitives and reuniting 43 missing children with their families.

It looks like there are one or two people on this message thread who are writing a bunch of notes under different names. Who says the right-wing wingnuts aren't smart!

HYPOCRITE. It is LIBERAL, weak judges that keep letting out this scum on easy prison sentences that perpetuate these crimes against children. You liberals are ruining america!! Obama is just a fraud and liar. We see through your lies, Mr. President."

Great name for someone who doesn't think that the next guy should have consitutional rights, also.

You know, I was actually pretty glad to see that Obama was willing to take time to recognize AMW. Walsh deserves it.

But then the inevitable happened. The president turned it into a pitch about himself. DOES IT ALWAYS HAVE TO BE ABOUT HIM??? Can't the guy simply congratulate John Walsh and all the tipsters? Can't the president thank Rupert Murdoch and FOX for sticking with a show despite the low ratings ... a show that has contributed to the capture of over 1,100 horrible criminals?

It's not about you Mr. President. Sometimes, the people are the ones that make the difference, not just you.

"Hell, if these two fools had their way, we would have cut and run years ago and Iraq would be a terrorist mecca."

hey genius, Iraq wasn't a terrorist mecca before we invaded and wasn't slated to become one really. After the invasion, it became a breeding ground for new terrorists and recruitment and not only did terrorist groups that already existed send people there to commit terrorist acts and recruit, but there was also a proliferation of new terrorist groups motivated by our invasion. Learn and acknowledge the facts before you spew your revisionist nonsense.

Go ahead and check the Al Qaeda recruitment brochures and you'll see Bush and Cheney smiling like idiots on the front cover with a picture of Iraq in the background.

Will somebody finally ask Obama: do you want the best health care reform we can afford or do you want to pass a messy bill that gets caught in the courts because it is illegal or incongruent? Do you want to pass a bill that works or that creates a legal mess? I'd love to see the answer! no BS, the answer!

Maybe President Obama is just trying to keep up with Sarah Palin's media time. I'd argue his appearance on America's Most Wanted lends more importance to victims in this country than a supposed Alaskan documentary featuring the Palin family.

When the powerful rich acitivists and their agents start putting the screws to the American masses, we must have a government compassionate enough to help us fight big brother. The greedy forces that suck the life out of this country's health care, the financial systems that have been deregulated to a calamitous extent, and the comsumables (foods and drugs) that have to be inspected and monitored closely are all factors that can make us sick, die or disastrously ripped off.

So, thanks to the cops kept on the beat !

Thanks to the firefighters who have been on alert !

And thanks to the teachers who are still dedicated to positively influencing their charge !

Were it not for a part of our govenment being concerned for our well being we could be living in a THIRD WORLD COUNTRY right not.

Well, I love our President and I think it is great that he is so down to earth to appear on TV shows like America's Most Wanted, Leno, etc. But what does being President have to do with America's Most Wanted??? If they have Bush and Cheney on the top of the list as criminals then OK I coud understand but until that day I don't see any point in Presidents appearing on this show. Actually, Obama should stay as far away America's Most Wanted as possible... he doesn't fit the description of a criminal @ all.

Call him Mr. President or President Obama. We all know that GOPers and the "news" media are intentionally belittling his presidency by referring to him as Mr. Obama because they know it helps incite controversy and keep viewers who still can't admit to themselves that he is, in fact, POTUS. You didn't call President Bush "Mr. Bush" and the change in policy is blatant and palpable.

Hey Obama!! are you trying something that you think is going to make you look JUST A LITTLE BETTER in the public eye? Well here is something you NEED to try, 1. Tell the truth about how you were against the 51 vote, you know the way you talked when you were a senator. 2. Stop thinking the American people want you to lead us into Socialism, 3,PLEASE STOP YOUR LYING, it makes you look too stupid to be a president. 4. Remember you were once just an average American citizen, how would you like to be bamboozled by your president? You need to tell Pelosi and Reid that you are the president and not their puppet, just grow up and maybe you need to take more cigarette breaks and that will calm you and you will not spit so much venom, but like the ole saying "once a snake, always a snake.

They should ask him to push for legislation to put pedophiles away for the rest of their lives. 1 strike you never see the light of day again. Of course he would not support it. Libs are usually soft of pedophilia and don't take is serious. But it would be great to put him on the spot.

    If it was McCain,
there would have been No funds(freezes across the board), and you would have seen more of Palin on SNL and special popup in World Wrestling or sporting the finest of clothing while people struggle to find jobs. You all hating Obama need to pull your He-Man trunks up, and grow up.

I can't believe what some of the responses have been. How people can show such disrespect is beyond me. I don't care who they are talking about and especially the President of the United States. It is dispicable to say what many of you have said.

One doesn't even have to quess that most of you are Republicans. It's a party of negativity. It's a party of so many who accept only what they hear and who haven't either the knowledge or ability to investigate the truth. You pick up on something you hear and it's absolute truth. The out right lies and the twisting of the truth that comes from what used to be a great party is beyond words. THE HATRED THAT COMES FROM THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, THE LACK OF PRODUCTION AND WILLINGNESS TO GIVE CONCERN TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE IS RUINING AMERICAN.

I can only conclude that there is so much Republican ignorance and hatred, both in the general population and in the elected party officials themselves that changes needed in this country will NEVER NEVER come about.

Well, you can all be smug with your negativity but I for one would rather you learned how much better things could be if you were as willing to work with the President as you choose to work against him.

I have never seen so much blatant disrespect for the highest office in the land in my life! While I support the right of free speech (one of the rights which I swore to uphold and defend with my very life), I find it disheartening that a select minority find so much time to blog in this forum and others to forward their political agenda. President Obama won the election.. Can we please move on.. Unless those naysayers, teabaggers or whatever name you choose to use have an appointment to become candidates next election or part of the Electoral College, how about we ALL unite to make an agenda thats in the best interests of ALL Americans? Back on topic, its not a bad thing he's on television supporting law enforcement. So lets press on....

Can Obama do just one interview without whining about "how bad things were" and trying to convince people that he "saved us all"?

Look, Barry, you're a loser and we all know it. You've done nothing but make things worse, just as conservatives predicted you would. I realize that you can fool democrats with all your lies but you don't fool people with brains. Oh, and by the way, please stay off of the tv for a few days, we're all sick of seeing you.

I also find it interesting that CNN wouldn't post my comment questioning where in the "H E double hockey sticks" they were when examining Obama's use of the word "I" in his speeches but they will post a threat against Palin and Bachmann.

NIce job CNN and wonder if this will get posted.

When it's about our children we all feel the pain, remember President Obama has two of his own, and no parent should ever have a child abducted, raped and killed. John Walsh deserves recognition from our President, he's lost so much but in return he continues to give much. God Bless him and continue doing God's work.
