'Most Wanted' locks up Obama exclusive

America's Most Wanted host John Walsh taped a 15 minute interview with President Obama.
America's Most Wanted host John Walsh taped a 15 minute interview with President Obama.

(CNN) – President Obama will appear on "America's Most Wanted" with the show's host John Walsh this Saturday to commemorate its 1000th episode.

According to Deputy White House Spokesman Bill Burton, the president taped a 15 minute interview in the White House's Map Room with Walsh on Wednesday morning before delivering remarks in the East Room.

The president used the interview to congratulate Walsh on his show's success, but also to tout his administration's own anti-crime initiatives.
In clips released by "America's Most Wanted," Mr. Obama tells Walsh that last year's "huge economic crisis" raised great concern about the possibility for lawlessness to follow.

"One of the things we were most worried about was how this would this affect law enforcement. Because you started seeing state and local budgets hemorrhaging and there were the prospects of tens of thousands of cops on the streets being laid off." Mr. Obama said, crediting the White House for preventing that from happening.

"What we did was working with state and local governments, got four billion dollars in additional funding so that we kept those law enforcement officials doing the great work that they do each and every day," Mr. Obama said.

For John Walsh, "America's Most Wanted" is a personal crusade. He began hosting the show 22 years ago after his 6 year-old son Adam was abducted and killed in 1981.

Mr. Obama told Walsh, "I know Adam is looking down on us, and saying you know, my Dad has really done something incredible."

President Obama tried to personalize his own commitment to fighting crime by pledging "to do everything in our power as long as I'm in the White House, and as long as I'm the father of two girls, to make sure that we are providing the states the support that they need to make this happen."

"America's Most Wanted" claims responsibility for capturing more than 1,100 fugitives and reuniting 43 missing children with their families.

Do you tea baggers ever shut up about anything? You complain that Obama is self-promoting and fall all over yourselves about Sarah Palin. You complain about him not working hard enough and applaud Republicans for doing absolutely nothing to help the country. Do the voices in your head ever tell you to STFU?

This is one reason I like Obama, he feels like one of us. He is not standoffish like past republican presidents are.

Reeeaaaaallllllllyyyyyyyyy. You obviously have not been paying attention. He and his wife are both radical racists, similar to the Black Panthers. A person is known by their associations. Please learn to pay attention. If more people had been paying attention, he would never have beaten Hillary much less be smelling up the white house right now.

Wow. Mr. Obama is on another TV program that has nothing to do with governing our country? Is he also going to present at the Oscars too? He is the President, not the Celebrity Apprentice President, thought with the level of "class" he brings to the office I am not sure he gets that.

I know it really bugs the Repuglicans to have an intellectual in the white house. They prefer someone who uses really small words so they can understand. They don't want a president that is smart, they want one as dumb as or dumber that they are. It keeps them from feeling threatened. It also bugs them when a President tries to help the folks that the republicans are trying to keep down. Selfishness runs very deep in the repuglican party.

    Go President Obama.

All of you complaining about the President being on TV and actullay answering questions and doing interviews are just having a hard time understanding what it means to have an intelligent, articulate and honesty person in office because of the past administration who refused to answer ANY questions or be honest. I know it's a hard concept, but he is the President of all of the people whether you like it or not! We had to put up with eight years of lies, hate and fear and now we have a person who cares about the well being of all citizens, get over yourselves and look to the Lord for happieness becasue when God is for you NOONE can be against you! Keep up the good work President Obama and continue to seek the Lord and you will be just fine!

I bet all of you that complain about President Obama, did not VOTE for him, so therefore; if you did not VOTE for him, don't complain. I guess that you all would be happier if McCain and Palin were running the White House administration. The nerve of all of you to say that President Obama is dumb. Wow, I would love to know how a dumb person can earn a degree from Harvard and have a wife that had a successful career as a lawyer earning 325,000 a year. Oh my goodness, you all that have negative things to say, surely cannot be happy individuals. I voted for President Obama and I still believe that he is doing a good job. Patience is a virtue.

    American Airman ,

You speak of maturity implying you have any. Learn to respect your Commander in Chief, your uniform and the constitution we live by then you can talk of maturity. That goes for anyone who tries so hard to come up with new, childish names for our President. Whether you like it or not, he is your President.

As for John Walsh, I am a proud father of 2 and have dedicated myself to the service of my country. That being said, I salute you John for what you have done for our communities. It is people like you that inspire me to be a better person.

More spending! Are we actually cutting anything? Let send a billion to I don't know some country somewhere must need some money even though right here in our own country we have major needs.

I voted for and volunteered for (first time) and donated money for (first time), but most likely my last.

I am not sure exactly where the "change" is, still two wars, still tax cuts for the rich, oh yes I know where the change is, he can actually finish a sentence unlike our last Ivy-schooled President.

Unfortunately politicians are just that, when do we the people get our country back.

As others have noticed, "MR. Obama? What is that about? Sometimes it seems like their is something else being said by Ms. Malveaux. On November 16, 2007 while moderating a Democratic debate, Ms. Malveaux modified a question asked by a audience member who wanted to know what qualities the candidates' Supreme Court nominees would have but Ms. Malveaux asked if the nominees would support abortion rights. That is not "moderating' and calling President Obama, "Mr. Obama' is not "reporting." Lke Fox, there is something else being said.

    Just the facts ma'am...

GObama! It's refreshing when the President can take a brief moment (15 minutes not worrying about the economy is okay in my book) to recognize someone like John Walsh who has done such a positive thing stemming from the tragic loss of his own son.

Also, after 8 years' worth of a "president" that had trouble forming coherent sentences, I'm glad we have a smart guy in the driver's seat, ego and all.

You go Obama. I for one an VERY relieved at the progress we have made. Slow but sure! I am glad he is keeping his head up, and moving forward regardless of what others say. Some will never be satisfied, if its not one thing its the other. And YES he is vain, he should be. Best looking president we ever had. HAHA!!

I've always wondered why these comment boards are always filled with right wing lunatics who try to come up with clever names for Obama, but now I realize anyone that thinks "Obozo" or "Odumbo" or "Osama" are clever names clearly aren't intelligent enough to get jobs and become productive members of society.

My lunch break is over, I have to go back to work. You guys enjoy your mothers' basements.

You people are morons. There is not one factual, substantive argument against this president, just childish prattle. Try actually reading in detail the accomplishments of this administration and its stance on issues, instead of listening to 30 second sound bite, and headlines from Fox, which are just about all lies.

The real trouble the country is in, is too many of its citizens are gullible followers instead of independent thinkers.

"Odumbo," "Obozo"... what happened to respect for the office of the presidency?
"Crazy" Joe Biden? "Evil" Nancy Pelosi? Do you teabaggers have any notion of disagreeing without childish namecalling and mudslinging? How about showing some of the same respect you constantly demand for Bush Cheney, Palin and your crew?

"He doesn't miss a chance at being seen. Very vain!!!!!!!!!!"
Oh, and what about Sarah Palin appearing on every tv show that will have her? You are such hypocrites!

Obama is the President! Of course you're going to "see his face everywhere!" Get used to it!

Looks like all the Right Wing Fringies, Wackadoodles, and Paid Republican Liars posting here want to cover up the truth.

Emergency funding was provided by the President Obama administration to maintain law enforcement infrastructure during the George W. Bush/Republican Economic Crisis.

True responsibility for the nation, something you Republican Pukes know nothing about.
