'Most Wanted' locks up Obama exclusive

America's Most Wanted host John Walsh taped a 15 minute interview with President Obama.

America's Most Wanted host John Walsh taped a 15 minute interview with President Obama.

(CNN) - President Obama will appear on "America's Most Wanted" with the show's host John Walsh this Saturday to commemorate its 1000th episode.

According to Deputy White House Spokesman Bill Burton, the president taped a 15 minute interview in the White House's Map Room with Walsh on Wednesday morning before delivering remarks in the East Room.

The president used the interview to congratulate Walsh on his show's success, but also to tout his administration's own anti-crime initiatives.
In clips released by "America's Most Wanted," Mr. Obama tells Walsh that last year's "huge economic crisis" raised great concern about the possibility for lawlessness to follow.

"One of the things we were most worried about was how this would this affect law enforcement. Because you started seeing state and local budgets hemorrhaging and there were the prospects of tens of thousands of cops on the streets being laid off." Mr. Obama said, crediting the White House for preventing that from happening.

"What we did was working with state and local governments, got four billion dollars in additional funding so that we kept those law enforcement officials doing the great work that they do each and every day," Mr. Obama said.

For John Walsh, "America's Most Wanted" is a personal crusade. He began hosting the show 22 years ago after his 6 year-old son Adam was abducted and killed in 1981.

Mr. Obama told Walsh, "I know Adam is looking down on us, and saying you know, my Dad has really done something incredible."

President Obama tried to personalize his own commitment to fighting crime by pledging "to do everything in our power as long as I'm in the White House, and as long as I'm the father of two girls, to make sure that we are providing the states the support that they need to make this happen."

"America's Most Wanted" claims responsibility for capturing more than 1,100 fugitives and reuniting 43 missing children with their families.

    To The Republican Dictionary:

Your comment – "You know, through the stimulus bill, the President has kept cops on the streets."

Do you not remember that as soon as he passed the stimulus bill and went to Ohio to congratulate himself for keeping 25 new recruits on the payroll in a town there that they were laid off shortly after that? They LOST those jobs he supposedly saved, so his stimulus did nothing but put us into debt. We all need to wake up and quit pretending all this spending is good for us.

Yeah, Obama belongs on this show, as one of the Most Wanted Chicago Crooks in America!

Settle down, you sill conservative blowhards. . . I know it's a shock to you all to see so much of your President after 8 yrs of a President that spent more time on vacation than any sitting US President in history. The show is celebrating a milestone and I'm pretty sure that, if it happened during Georgie's presidency, they would have reached out to him. . . Well, as long as he wasn't too busy learning how not to fall off a Segway. . . Hahahahaha. . .

John Walsh does what he does for his son, as does Cindy Sheehan.

Kudos to John Walsh and others who soldier on in memory of their children. Kudos to President Obama for recognizing this.
And how often do we hear anything about Cindy Sheehan these days beating her drum even louder and yelling Obama is killing our young men? Never. The Left Media couldn't get Cindy Sheehan on the news enough under the Bush administration. The main stream media is just like this administration...HYPOCRITES and the sad part is they're proud of it.

    Wow !

Such hate for a sitting President ! You people should be ashamed of yourselves.

In all my life I have never seen such hatred, toward anyone. Seems like you folks have just picked up your "White Hoods" at the dry cleaners in November 2008 !

Well, if it is your goal to see the President fail, America fail, and consider your self to be a "True American" (code word for WHITE), then that means you also will fail.

That being said, JUST STOP with the ignorance!!

Why all the bashing? What does this hurt any of you? It DOESN'T! I'd rather see Obama on any show supporting law enforcement and victims of crime than Palin doing standup on Leno! You right wingers need to get a life!

Really a shame that he would use this show to toot his own horn. To Obama, it is just one more photo-op to tell all how great he is in saving America. Right up there with inventing the Internet. Vain, self-serving, and blind to the true needs of America.

The last one year, it had been like the ground hog day (the movie) for me; every morning my alarm clock starts playing at 6:30 with the NPR news, President Obama will do this today, did that yesterday, will walk the dog, will announce something after four days, will go somewhere next month, will have beer today, and the list goes on, every single day. I changed my alarm to 6:40, but that doesn’t help, they have news again at 7 AM. Fortunately Saturday mornings are great relief, they don’t have the morning news.

Here I am desperately longing for change, any change is good. If only I could start my day with some other news for a change. It takes some vey significant news elsewhere in the world for that news radio to break away from this theme.

Perhaps you have never seen anything like this, because you were not paying attention?

Much the same way you assumed wrong about Congressman Grayson. The person with the website is NOT from our district. In fact, that PAC organization is facing legal ramifications for lying.

To all of the Anti-Obama conservatives commenting.

    1. 15 mins is not a lot of "wasting time" to give an interview to AMW. That's only 8 minutes longer than Bush wasted in a classroom as this country was attacked on 9-11.

    2. POTUS is overexposed??? He is only the leader of the United States and therefore, probably the most famous person in the world. He's probably going to be on TV a lot. Simple logic. Get over it. By the way, Palin isn't overexposed? Moving on.

    3. Where was all this vitriol for the President who did provide 2 massive tax cuts (not paid for by the way) for the wealthy and corporations? Or started an unnecessary war that has cost biilions of dollars (not paid for by the way) and counteless thousands of lives? Who allowed domestic spying on citizens of this country? Oh that's right, Bush! But because he is a Republican, anything he did is ok, right?

    4. Let's drop the Tea Party crap, we all know it's a front for ultra-right wingnuts, who, thankfully are a small minority in this country. You are NOT Patriots! Trying to undercut the leader who was elected with an overwhelming majority by your fellow Americans is NOT Patriotism. Wrapping your ignorant, intolerant, hateful, and yes sometimes racist rhetoric under the banner of Patriotism is an insult to every American.

I simply cannot understand the bizarre responses I'm seeing to President Obama's decision to honor a man who has done so much to protect children. It's irrational.

By the way, was it a liberal who allowed the killer of four police officers in Seattle to go free? No, it was Mike Huckabee, former Republican presidential contender.

It'll be nothing but more lies. Obama is the biggest liar ever to occupy the White House. Lies, lies, lies.

And most of the drones here in CNN land buy the lies each and every time, just as the gullible media does. They never learn they're dealing with a high-level Chicago con-artist. It's a charade if they haven't learned by now he just lies and lies. And then lies some more, and the drones just lap it up.

@Maggie and Robert: It is customary for journalists to use the title of President in their initial reference to the president. In subsequent references, the title of Mr. is used. This is nothing new, has always been that way.
