'Most Wanted' locks up Obama exclusive

America's Most Wanted host John Walsh taped a 15 minute interview with President Obama.
America's Most Wanted host John Walsh taped a 15 minute interview with President Obama.

(CNN) – President Obama will appear on "America's Most Wanted" with the show's host John Walsh this Saturday to commemorate its 1000th episode.

According to Deputy White House Spokesman Bill Burton, the president taped a 15 minute interview in the White House's Map Room with Walsh on Wednesday morning before delivering remarks in the East Room.

The president used the interview to congratulate Walsh on his show's success, but also to tout his administration's own anti-crime initiatives.
In clips released by "America's Most Wanted," Mr. Obama tells Walsh that last year's "huge economic crisis" raised great concern about the possibility for lawlessness to follow.

"One of the things we were most worried about was how this would this affect law enforcement. Because you started seeing state and local budgets hemorrhaging and there were the prospects of tens of thousands of cops on the streets being laid off." Mr. Obama said, crediting the White House for preventing that from happening.

"What we did was working with state and local governments, got four billion dollars in additional funding so that we kept those law enforcement officials doing the great work that they do each and every day," Mr. Obama said.

For John Walsh, "America's Most Wanted" is a personal crusade. He began hosting the show 22 years ago after his 6 year-old son Adam was abducted and killed in 1981.

Mr. Obama told Walsh, "I know Adam is looking down on us, and saying you know, my Dad has really done something incredible."

President Obama tried to personalize his own commitment to fighting crime by pledging "to do everything in our power as long as I'm in the White House, and as long as I'm the father of two girls, to make sure that we are providing the states the support that they need to make this happen."

"America's Most Wanted" claims responsibility for capturing more than 1,100 fugitives and reuniting 43 missing children with their families.

Yeah, his administration is getting tough on enemy combatants. They don’t seem to consider much else a crime. Spend, Spend, Spend, Talk, Talk and Talk some more – do something that actually makes a difference for pity sake. Maybe get tough on sexual predators with lengthy mandatory sentences? These people keep getting out and doing more harm to our children, women and society as a whole.

Now John Walsh, he does make a difference and deserves our appreciation. Truely a man that makes a difference. Maybe someone could talk him into running for office.

Republican dictionary– You are the poster child of dem misinformation. Seriously, do some research about liberal judges. They historically have given sex offenders minimum sentences. And speaking of the 787 billion stimulus bill........your comments are ridiculous. The federal govt DOESN'T pay for local police officer, the localities do. That is the fundamental misunderstanding you big govt. liberals don't understand. Also, how the heck does that "stimulate" the economy. The stimulus bill wasn't supposed to be a "free-spend" for Obama...it was supposed to stimulate. Quit drinking the kool-aid and WAKE UP.

    To Sue,
I think the solution for you is to turn off the TV, join the Sarah Palin train of anti-government fanatics, take up solitaire and buy a big box of Cracker Jacks you're in for a long ride with Obama as our President.

I don't understand you people he was elected with a landslide victory by the people. He IS our President so cut the whining and deal with it.

Mr. Walsh has suffered a horrendous loss many years ago and has done everything in his power to bring missing and exploited children home to their families. He is deserving of recognition from the White House.

Burns.... I don't know if he's the biggest con-man this century.. He had a tough act to follow with his predecessor... You make the idea of a politician exploiting something/someone to feed his/her own ego/agenda sound like something new... Suffering from some long-term memory loss? or just exclusive recollections to only one political party?

Kudos to the President for recognizing the great work this program has done to bring ciminals to justice. This is a great forum for the President to educate those Americans who still do not have sense enough to realize he is on their side especially when it comes to fighting crime.

And discourse gets dragged down into the dirt again by right wingers who, as always, are acting like two year olds who didn't get their way in the last election.

Hey, if you don't want to see Obama or hear about how Bachman is a treasonous moron who tells people not to fill out the census, you're free to leave the country. Of course, the rest of the world will put up with your stupidity for about 2 seconds before throwing you in jail. Traitors.

    Okay, this is creepy.

Granted American's most wanted has a done a good job in bringing justice for those victimized....but ....it does seem a bit strange for the President of the United States to be on this show....to me, it would be more appropriate for say, the Head of the FBI or even the National Policeman's association to be the one to give the kudos. Just sayin'

Hey robert, Olbermoron is the one that always referred to President Bush as "mr. bush". I'm sure you were real concerned about how the president is referred to back then. I think Obama is an AWFUL president, but absolutely should be referred to as Mr. President. Problem with you left-winger is, you only want special rules for few. That's why most of you draw off the govt to take care of you while, we the middle class support you lazy and unwilling.

I am very proud of our President. He is right to fight for the funding to keep police officers on the streets. Too bad there are so many extreme right wing partisans (some posting here) that hold so much hate for our President that they can't even think clearly.

"Odumbo" "Obozo" that's what YOU so-called-patriots call the President of the United States?!

And you people call yourselves........ Christians?!

Some times I think the people that write these letters don't even bother to read them. There are at least a dozen letters in this group that make NO sense at all and have nothing to do with this article. I find it very interesting that almost all of the letters take shots at the president. Frankly, I think these were all written by the same person or group thereof which doesn't say much for the person evaluating the entries.I might add the person that is so anti President Obama can't name one solid reason for his vitriol, he just throws nasty around because he doesn't have the use of many real words................John Walsh is a fine and valuable part of our society and should not have his story besmirched by this bunch of losers.

If there was a "World's Most Wanted" it would feature Dick Cheney. He'll never leave the United States again in his life because he knows he'll be arrested and frog-marched straight to The Hague if he ever sets foot in another country.

I think the Presidents of the United States do well to honor effective and well intentioned crime prevention efforts, and Prez Obama is doing well on his part to fulfill that part of the job. Bunch of yinz sound like you feel compelled to jag every time you hear his name – must be that same old aryan supremacy claptrap.

It's not hard to see what those good "Christian" "conservatives" think of Democracy.
If you don't win, lie and call people names. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.
The President HAS done a great deal to make this recession bearable and to keep officers on the street. Here in Tulsa, the Republican mayor fired a quarter of the police. Thanks to the Federal government funding, 34 were just hired back.
No amount of hateful speech will ovbercome the FACTS. The President cares about our safety and the safety of this Country.
    Republicans DO NOT.

After reading some of these comments, I am reminded of something from psychology: in a nutshell, people like screaming at each other WAY more than listening. Screaming nonsense releases endorphins, while listening to someone else causes discomfort.

    Hence, blogs like this.

Have some respect Suzanne. Didn't you learn in school you address a president using their title? Or did you miss that in class?

There are statistics proving liberals are more intelligent than conservatives all this hate speech is proof of that fact.
