'Most Wanted' locks up Obama exclusive

America's Most Wanted host John Walsh taped a 15 minute interview with President Obama.

America's Most Wanted host John Walsh taped a 15 minute interview with President Obama.

(CNN) - President Obama will appear on "America's Most Wanted" with the show's host John Walsh this Saturday to commemorate its 1000th episode.

According to Deputy White House Spokesman Bill Burton, the president taped a 15 minute interview in the White House's Map Room with Walsh on Wednesday morning before delivering remarks in the East Room.

The president used the interview to congratulate Walsh on his show's success, but also to tout his administration's own anti-crime initiatives.
In clips released by "America's Most Wanted," Mr. Obama tells Walsh that last year's "huge economic crisis" raised great concern about the possibility for lawlessness to follow.

"One of the things we were most worried about was how this would this affect law enforcement. Because you started seeing state and local budgets hemorrhaging and there were the prospects of tens of thousands of cops on the streets being laid off." Mr. Obama said, crediting the White House for preventing that from happening.

"What we did was working with state and local governments, got four billion dollars in additional funding so that we kept those law enforcement officials doing the great work that they do each and every day," Mr. Obama said.

For John Walsh, "America's Most Wanted" is a personal crusade. He began hosting the show 22 years ago after his 6 year-old son Adam was abducted and killed in 1981.

Mr. Obama told Walsh, "I know Adam is looking down on us, and saying you know, my Dad has really done something incredible."

President Obama tried to personalize his own commitment to fighting crime by pledging "to do everything in our power as long as I'm in the White House, and as long as I'm the father of two girls, to make sure that we are providing the states the support that they need to make this happen."

"America's Most Wanted" claims responsibility for capturing more than 1,100 fugitives and reuniting 43 missing children with their families.

It is so nice to see and hear a President that gets involved and works for good, as compared to our last president (bush) who was named to help Hatian Earthquake relief and never heard from again. Bill Clinton went there and is going to Chile, but where is the x party of No President? Hold up in Texas as usual.

Walsh is a Right Wing Wacko. His son was killed by a SERIAL KILLER, not a sex offender........ when he couldnt get anybody to listen, he started to distort the facts...

Surveys on molested children show that 90% of molestation is done by parents, relatives, or someone who knows the child.

Stop making feel good laws and restructure the whole justice system.

Most are not aware that thousands of teen agers and younger children have been labeled sex offenders by the right wing wackos destroying the lives of children and their families

Can't this guy stay off TV for one moment? He is in love with looking at himself and hearing himself. The same is not true of his captive viewers, sad to say. Obama should be exposed as overexposed by TMZ and ET and all the other entertainment shows who make those calls. Enough is enough.

I'm glad to see the president is staying visible and talking to the American people regularly with a variety of venues on a variety of issues. This is something I want to see from all future presidents from BOTH parties.

This story could be entitled "President Obama captures FBI's Ten Most Wanted Single-handedly" and there's still be hateful comments about him. What's become of us when we can't show any respect to a president who we disagree with? Can the "other side" do nothing but evil now, in our eyes?

The extreme partisans got worse during the Bush administration and now their hatred has become truly vile.

Who in their right mind would want to be president of the USA. Is there another country in the world that spends so much time, energy and money to elect a leader only to spend the next 3 years trying to destroy him or her. Wow. The guy can't even appear on a show dedicated to fighting crime and helping victims without being critizied. I don't think Government is broken in the USA. I think its people are. Government tries to follow the will of the people and all the people of the USA want to do is blame someone else for their failings. Glad I'm a Canadian.

The effort of Walsh and the people who watch his program has been incredible as well as the results. My hats off to him, the program, and the community.

Fearless Leader is one incredible individual. Why not come out and say thank you John Walsh for what you and your program watchers have done for the community.

I wonder if Walsh will have on the show a wanted poster on an ex-Illinois senator posing as the President.

Wow, cannot believe some of these posts, lets see how much you would condem what President Obama is doing to someones face that has either had a child missing or know someone that has been on this show. John Walsh has done something great and the President is showing utmost respect for the man and all you right wingers can do is condem it. Seriously, just listen to yourselves and you will really see how silly you sound when someone does something worth while and you speak without thinking. I would rather be called a open minded liberal than a closed minded fool any day.

  21. A true American

Do people complain about everything? Oh no the President shot a 15 minute interview! Why can't he just focus on the problems? But if he talks about the problems, the Republicans try to block anything he does. If Bush was on AMW republicans would of squealed with delight. So I guess the president should never be seen and only do what the minority of people want?

Why is the president on TV all the time? You have to pretty stupid if you wonder why the President of the United States of America is on TV a lot. Bush was on TV constantly but he was usually on vacation as America went into the toilet.

Whatever happened to the GOP chant, "Love it or Leave it?" Well get the hell out of my country if you hate it so much. George Bush was a spoiled, ignorant, coke-snorting, cowardly, brat who almost ruined the country. Don't forget.

The election is over and the USA elected this president by a landslide.

What's with all the MR. Obama, Suzanne? He has earned his title of President

Maybe the socialist/communist government will write a law that requires this. I'm sure that would make you happy, Maggie.

Have you noticed that Obama's critics will, in the same breath, say that Obama just talks about himself and gets nothing done. Clearly and sadly, some people have been brainwashed into hating one of the more hard-working and intelligent presidents in recent history.

Move along! No intelligent discourse here. That's right people, just keep reading elsewhere. Nothing to read here.
The narrow-mindedness is mind-numbing (as are hyphens). It seems that all who write in can only see one side of the story, which makes a reader wonder why they bother to write in at all. Opinions are either black or white; no possibility of gray. Partisanship is alive and well in the US of A!

P.S. Feel free to cut-and-paste this into any major newspaper's "Comment" section. It applies to every one of them that I have read.
