'Most Wanted' locks up Obama exclusive

America's Most Wanted host John Walsh taped a 15 minute interview with President Obama.

America's Most Wanted host John Walsh taped a 15 minute interview with President Obama.

(CNN) - President Obama will appear on "America's Most Wanted" with the show's host John Walsh this Saturday to commemorate its 1000th episode.

According to Deputy White House Spokesman Bill Burton, the president taped a 15 minute interview in the White House's Map Room with Walsh on Wednesday morning before delivering remarks in the East Room.

The president used the interview to congratulate Walsh on his show's success, but also to tout his administration's own anti-crime initiatives.
In clips released by "America's Most Wanted," Mr. Obama tells Walsh that last year's "huge economic crisis" raised great concern about the possibility for lawlessness to follow.

"One of the things we were most worried about was how this would this affect law enforcement. Because you started seeing state and local budgets hemorrhaging and there were the prospects of tens of thousands of cops on the streets being laid off." Mr. Obama said, crediting the White House for preventing that from happening.

"What we did was working with state and local governments, got four billion dollars in additional funding so that we kept those law enforcement officials doing the great work that they do each and every day," Mr. Obama said.

For John Walsh, "America's Most Wanted" is a personal crusade. He began hosting the show 22 years ago after his 6 year-old son Adam was abducted and killed in 1981.

Mr. Obama told Walsh, "I know Adam is looking down on us, and saying you know, my Dad has really done something incredible."

President Obama tried to personalize his own commitment to fighting crime by pledging "to do everything in our power as long as I'm in the White House, and as long as I'm the father of two girls, to make sure that we are providing the states the support that they need to make this happen."

"America's Most Wanted" claims responsibility for capturing more than 1,100 fugitives and reuniting 43 missing children with their families.

Read The Constitution – WHOAAA!!! Calm down dude...
First don't count everybody in your 'we', there are still sane people in the USA OK?
Second there are good judges and bad judges, try to put all the bad ones under the label 'Liberal' is, at best, a bad argument with poor reasoning.
But since you believehat 'You liberals are ruining america!!' you must not be around when the market went down, under Bush's watch, did you?

Crybaby Rebukes he is not campaigning, he's showing which side of the law he is on to our citizens.
Name a lie or a solution, the constant attacks prove nothing.
Campaigning is over rebukes get to work with our President or go home.
Hell if President Obama and Vice President Biden had their way we would have saved American lives and saved money and time. Ex-President Bush, VP Cheney, and Karl Rove saved nothing.{Men or Women, money, or the United States standing in the worlds eye.

A whole lot of love and thanks to John, his wife and children.

It really burns up you right wing ideologues that our lawfully-elected liberal Democrat President has worked hard to protect the jobs of our policemen, while all you can do is shout about your right to carry assault rifles, which is OPPOSED by the majority of police departments and police unions across our great country. You betray the founders and every honest American.

I'm sure the Repubicans and Adolf Hitler's son, Rush Limbaugh will find something wrong with this too. The Republicans complain so much that they are turning their own people away from them. They don't realize how much they are strengthening the Democratic Party with their negative positions on everything.

Again I will say, its amazing how average struggling American citizens in the Repubican Party continue to work so hard at making the rich Repubicans maintain their power and wealth. While they sacrifice having a chance at quality health care and a decent job just to be associated with Rush and his Party.

    To Read The Constitution:

It was the uber conservative religious right Mike Huckabee that released 13 count felon (including child rape) Maurice Clemmons who went on to murder the four Lakewood, WA police officers.

Back up your attack on "weak liberal judges" with the facts. In the case of Mike Huckabee it is the hypocrisy of the religious right that is responsible for the cold blooded murder of those brave officers.

@Socialismbad: Obama did ask for the stimulus, which did include money to states and local governments, that did keep cops from being laid off.

Of course, since you object to socialism, you must be advocating that we fire all police, and let the free market take care of crime.

    Neocons are nutjobs.

President Obama tried to personalize his own commitment to fighting crime by pledging "to do everything in our power as long as I'm in the White House......................."

The financial crisis had its beginnings long before the Obama administration. However its effects are being felt now, by me and the American people. My house lost 20% of its value, my retirment fund lost much of its value. All this when I wanted to retire. I am 69 years old and still workingI because I can't retire. If President Obama does nothing he will inherit the financial crisis.

No one has been prosecuted for fraud or illegal financial dealings that created the financial crisis. President Obama is not doing "everything in our power" to hold responsible those who walked away with huge gains, huge bonuses.

No wonder the people are angry and mad.

I wish him well. But when will see some action?

It's amazing to hear the criticism in these comments. On one hand I hear people criticizing Obama for taking credit for the stimulus that has kept cops on the street while at the same time criticizing him for the stimulus itself.

You don't have to like the president, but which is it, folks? If he's deserving of criticism for the stimulus bill he's got a right to take credit for the cops who kept their jobs because of it. If you deny him the credit for the cops on the street, quit criticizing the stimulus.

You can't have it both ways.

All president;s are on TV a lot. However, at least Obama can be positive and tell it like it is. GWB just had a stupid smerck on his face all the time even if he was delivering bad news. He was just too dumb to realize it!

To Cindy. I can;'t believe you actually put John Walsh in the same sentence with Cindy Sheehan. She is nothing more than a traitor to this country and I'm sure her son is rolling over in his grave at how horrible his mother is. John Walsh deserves everyone's respect and to put her in with this great american is an insult to all Americans.

this is ridiculous, this is about getting criminals off of the street, not slandering the President of the United States. You people are a joke. I bet you wouldn't be throwing such a fit if it was your child or relative that was the victim. Grow up America and realize the IMPORTANCE in life.

He's the PRESIDENT! If you "hate" seeing his face I'm guessing it's because you HATED him even before he was elected and that you get your HATING FUEL from Fox and talk radio. The reason we didn't see Bush on tv perhaps as much is because a) He didn't care as much about these kinds of civil issues and b) he was on vacation more than any other president in recent history.

Sorry you HATE the president so much – maybe some day you find some peace of mind but I doubt it. When Republicans ruled White House, Congress and Supreme Court talk radio STILL railed on about how the "liberals" caused all evil and should be eliminated.
