Jobless rate holds steady

New York (CNNMoney.com) - While the unemployment rate held steady in February, the U.S. economy is still shedding jobs, according to a government report released Friday.

The Labor Department said the economy lost 36,000 jobs in the month, fewer than the 68,000 jobs economists were expecting, according to a survey conducted by Briefing.com.

The results were still worse than the previous month, as just 26,000 jobs were lost in January, according to a revised estimate.

But there was no significant change in the number of unemployed workers, and the unemployment rate held steady at 9.7%. Economists surveyed by Briefing.com were expecting an increase to 9.8%.

I'm sure Boner, McConnell and company will complain, but 36,000 is much better than the 700+ thousands of jobs being lost monthly when President Obama took office.

That 36,000 would almost account for the police, firemen, and teachers laid off for the month due to states underfunding government, while expecting the feds to bail them out, as they complain about the national debt.

Despite the Obama claims that the stumulus is working beyond all expectations, we are still losing more jobs each month.
I'm sure Gibbs will tell the press again today how great the stimulus is working. And Obama will give a speech on how great the stimulus is working.
It's just like the move 'Ground Hog Day'. Every month we lose more jobs and Obama and Gibbs tell us how great the stimulus is working.
And I keep going thinking of that graph Obama put out when he told us the stimulus needed to be passed right away, don't even bother to read it, just pass it now. That graph that showed unemployment going up to 8% if it was passed and going up to 9% if they did nothing.
It's at 9.7%, been over 9% for many months now. Wow, the stimulus sure has delivered on expectations hasn't it.
Tell me the story again oh great Obama on how the stimulus has created or saved 2 million or more jobs and saved us from a depression (actually that was the TARP bill that averted a depression, but let's just induldge the great story teller).

Those illinois cops whose jobs he "saved" with his stimulus???? They lost those jobs shortly thereafter. I don't understand how anyone can believe anything that comes out of Obama's mouth. All you have to do is listen to him and he will tell you what he is going to do, and none of it is good for America. He said during the campaign he was going to socialize America, turn it into France or southern Canada, and 53% of you sheeple didn't listen or pay attention. By the way, that is not the "landslide" some of you liberals are fond of saying it is. If he keeps on his present course, the jobless rate will continue to climb.

Study Obama and Michele and read their writings, at least the ones that have not yet been sealed. They are racist, radical, socialists and espouse principles that America was not founded on. When Michele said "For the first time I am proud of my country" she was saying exactly what she meant, there was no taking out of context. People are known by thier associations. Why would you liberals not pay attention to the Obama's associations with radical terrorists? i.e. reverend wright, farrakahn, etc.

To ALL of the STMP (Short Term Memory People):

President Obama – during his campaign – always stated that it was going to get WORST before it got BETTER – Remember???

He also said that the employment rate may even go as high as double digits BEFORE it got BETTER – Remember????

We need to keep in mind that the MAJORITY of Americans put President Obama into office for CHANGE!! Why are we forgetting that and allowing the FEAR and APPEASEMENT for the rich that's coming from the RepubliCAN'Ts make us think differently????

You will see the CHANGE you once BELIEVED in and CHANGE that's gonna come if you just be PATIENT!!!

Being a healthcare professional, it really gets under my skin whenever I call an insurance company(primarily United Healthcare) and a foreign person(9 x's out of 10 that sounds Indian) answers the phone. It's bad enuogh insurance rates are sky high as they are, but United Healthcare has shipped hundreds, maybe even thousands of jobs overseas.
