Washington (CNN) - Megastars Beyonce and Jay-Z, accompanied by a small group of friends, visited the White House on Wednesday for a special tour that included the White House Situation Room, White House aides confirmed.
A photo, apparently taken of the group in the Situation Room, was released on the Web site Rap Radar. The photo shows Jay-Z sitting at the head of the table, the seat normally occupied by the president. He is surrounded by his wife, Beyonce, and others in his entourage.
White House tours for the public normally do not include a stop inside the Situation Room. When occupied by the president and his national security team, the room is typically used to mobilize the administration during a crisis situation and communicate to officials around the world. But one White House aide said special visitors occasionally get access to the Situation Room.
"It's not like there's classified information laying around," the aide said. "It's really just a conference room."
Last December, the White House posted a virtual tour of the Situation Room, touting it as "an exclusive look inside one of the most secure spaces in the country."
White House aides confirmed that Jay-Z and Beyonce stopped by before Jay-Z's concert Wednesday night at Washington's Verizon Center.

Over the years I have grown to appreciate the pair 'Jay-Z & Beyonce'. Unlike so many other famous couples, there is no unsavory drama following 'J&B'. They are both successful independently of each other, and successful and beautiful together as a couple.
However, the fact that 'Jay-Z and Beyonce' stopped by the White House is not a story. Why not a story? Because thousands of other famous couples have stopped by the White House. So I ask again, where is the story?
There sure seems to be a lot of hate being spread around over this non-issue. C'mon Republicans and Teabaggers, surely you have larger concerns than this. Also, why are you down on Hollywood entertainers when the republican idol, Ronald Reagan, was a third rate actor and union representative? Your hypocricy is showing!

Each president has their preference as to whom they want to visit the WH in this capacity. I am 57 years old and NEVER in the past have I seen so many people of color at the WH – who otherwise would NEVER have been there. In the past, you only saw the quota – if that many.

Funny, I don't see Obama's name in this article. In fact, there is no indication that Obama was even "home" during this visit. Countless people take tours of the White House, and this group just happened to get a "bonus" during the tour. It's no different than when Bush invited Lance Armstrong to his ranch for a bike ride/photo op. Some people find the negative in everything...

A complete list of visitors is available on the whitehouse official website, so given the extraordinary amount of people that visit the whitehouse, this is hardly shocking. Celebrity visitors at the white house are hardly a new phenomenon. Hello Marilyn Monroe.

Let's hold judgment on what type of intentions Obama had here and just stick to what we know. First, Obama is not even in the pictures! Second, Jay and Obama developed a friendship throughout Obama's campaigning, as Jay was involved with voter registration rallies. Obama has said he's a fan of Jay, and I'm sure his wife/daughters enjoyed meeting Beyonce. And let's remember, Jay/B were the highest earning couple in the entertainment industry for 09. Since neither of them had been to the WH to visit Obama before, its only seems appropriate that they would be granted some sort of VIP tour. Most probably, Obama only had time for a brief conversation at most, which would explain why he's not in any of the pictures.

I visited the situation room during the Clinton administration. It's not much but it is cool that the President and staff can survive down there during a nuclear attack and run the country. They mention that there is 2 weeks of air, food and water for them to live on. It's probably more since that was in 96. Pretty neat.
