Washington (CNN) - It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Senator Al Franken.
While Sen. Scott Brown, R-Massachusetts, might be able to brag about being featured in "Cosmopolitan" magazine, it is his Minnesota colleague who is getting his own comic book.
Franken, the comedian-turned- liberal radio host-turned U.S. senator, will be featured in an upcoming 22-page color spread as part of the "Political Power" series published by Bluewater Productions.
"We want to tell stories about people who are not the Barack Obama's of the world and Sen. Franken isn't someone people would expect us to cover," publisher Darren Davis said in an interview with CNN. Davis said the May issue of the series will "show his early life as a comedian to modern day. "I don't think anyone knows Sen. Franken co-wrote the movie "When a Man Loves a Woman," said Davis, referring to the 1994 dramatic film starring Andy Garcia and Meg Ryan.
As for Franken, a spokesman said the Democratic senator is "looking forward to reading the comic."
The current issue features George W.Bush.

It is wonderful to see a man of Al Franken's talent in the senate. He has also brougth a lot of common sense and class to our governing body.
Bush already has a whole magazine devoted to him–Mad magazine. Alfred E. Newman's look alike is none other than W himself!
It is an affront not only to the United States Senate but to the American people to have someone of the ilk of Franken a member.
This is what we've come down to- a comic book about a clown?
Wow, he co-wrote a movie? I'm sure that has provided all the experience he needed to become a successful and effective Senator.

A like minded lib to Franken was caught in Pakistan, Adam Gadahn. No doubt that if he ran for office in some of our most liberal areas in the west and NorthEast the Democrats would vote for him in mass.

Why not? Self-made man. Raised by his grandmother after his mother's death. Harvard graduate. Gave back to his community. President of the United States. What would be wrong with sharing this with the youth of America? What is the stigma? Shouldn't kids have someone to look up to no matter what their present cisrcumstances? Shouldn't our youth, Black, White, Yellow et al also be able to say YES I CAN?
The wording of this statement bothers me. I like Franken. A lot. I do not begrudge him his comic book, or anything good that comes his way, but surely there could've been another name to fit the statement like......

When can we get to see Sen. Franken put Joe Lieberman in his place again? If I were a Minnesotan, I'll vote for Franken in a heartbeat.

Of course he also has a book or two about a big fat idiot.
Makes sense: Franken is a joke, one of those most contemptible of breeds, the Limousine Liberal who, having more money than he knows what to do with, doesn't mind taxing the "little people" to death. He belongs in a comic strip.
