(CNN) – The campaign arm of House Democrats announced Wednesday that 13 candidates gunning for Republican-held seats are being welcomed into a program that offers them a considerable financial leg up in their midterm races.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said the candidates were admitted to the "Red to Blue" program by "surpassing demanding fundraising goals and skillfully demonstrating to voters that they will work to create jobs and stand up for the middle class."
"These candidates are generating excitement back home and are making the case to voters that their commitment to creating jobs and standing up for the middle class is far better than turning back the clock to the failed Bush policies of the past," DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen said in a statement.
In 2008, members of the Red to Blue program received more than $26 million from DCCC fundraising efforts.

We need to abolish the national political parties from our election process. A Representative or Senator needs to go to D.C. to represent the people from their districts, not the national party. When the national party opens the flood gates of campaign money, it makes a candidate beholden to party officials. We need real campaign finance reform. All money from PACs, National Parties, or other sources that originate from outside the representatives district needs to be halted.
This sounds all well and dandy, but how any of these democrats are moderates? We do not need anymore centrists in the party. We need strong progressives that will really work for the middle class.
The whole country needs to go from red to blue! as the younger generation comes up, this will happen. the toxic ideas of the republicant's are not playing well with young people who don't share the 'i've got mine, the devil with you' attitude. there's going to be a second extinction of dinosaurs and the country will be much greater for it. conservatism is the anchor that keeps the ship of state from sailing forward. time to haul it up. conservatism needs to go the way of the dinosaurs and be replaced by responsible progress.
It is time to send the sorry republicans to 'official' unemployment. They have been drawing a paycheck and health benefits and have done nothing for Americans but obstruct at one of the most difficult economic times in history. They have lied and built on fear long enough. Go Dems, kick some republican butt!
Red to Blue, sounds like the R.E.M song, losing my religion.
No one can believe that they must one day answer for their actions in life to a higher power while acting and living like a lib.
After over a year of Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the rest of liberal Democrats...........And our economy/states/country being destroyed........
It is actually funny to think that Democrats actually think that they might have a chance in conservative leaning/red areas.
And, I love this quote, it is actually hilarious............"These candidates are generating excitement back home and are making the case to voters that their commitment to creating jobs".
Again, Obama, Pelosi, and Reid thinking that moderates/conservatives are just as blind, deaf, clueless, and gullible as the Obama drones.
Good! Let's prove the Conserva-Nuts wrong and win an even bigger majority for Dems in 2010!
