Ex-Obama adviser: Democrats may get 'slaughtered' in election

Washington (CNN) – Steve Hildebrand, one of the top advisers who helped put President Obama in office, has a stark warning for his old friends at the White House and on Capitol Hill.

"I think that there is a real shot we [Democrats] are going to get slaughtered in elections this fall if we aren't leading the efforts to reform Washington," Hildebrand said. "We campaigned in '06 and '08, and if voters don't see that change, we haven't lived up to that promise."

Hildebrand, a highly regarded strategist in Democratic circles who helped deliver the crucial state of Iowa for Obama, is an outside consultant pushing issues such as campaign finance and lobbying reform.

He came to the White House on Wednesday for a quiet meeting with the president's senior adviser, David Axelrod, to express a fear that Republicans are seizing the high ground on cleaning up Washington, on issues such as the ethics probe of Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-New York.

Obamas administration is doing the best they can, its just the GOP is up to their usual tactics of bickering and shifting blame. they created the problems we have and they made no effort to fix them, instead they spouting numerous propaganda and flat out lies as they always do since they have no intention of working cooperativly for our nations best interest. some peeople are just plain stupid as they just blindly let their political affiliations define their opinions and everyone else who disagrees is plain wrong irregardless of whatever facts are presented. the best way to improve our economy is by brining back much of the jobs sent overseas

The U.S. certainly deserves another 8 years of the likes of GW.
If the Democrats cannot fix the government then the moronic American voters will give it back to the Republicans for their pleasure then anything they do will be for the betterment of the country...yeah...right.

Yesterday, I officially jumped the Democratic ship and became an elephant. The older I am getting, I find the more conservative I am – just one step left of Atilla the Hun! Really though, I am not happy with the Dems anymore and my political views have changed. Mind you if being an elephant does not satisfy me, I can change again to Independent or some other affiliation. So yeah, the Dems will get their butts kicked in November.

The economy is improving; jobless claims are slowly reducing; Dow Jones and Nasdaq ( IRA , retirement accounts etc) are up; increasing protections for our children; improving our education; science and environment are back; volunteering has increased;our image in the rest of the world has improved; alternative energy is in the forefront; Israel and Palestinians are talking; Indians and Pakistanis are talking; capturing of many Taliban and Al Queda leaders; our withdrawal from Iraq and many more.
After 8 years of destruction by Bush/Cheney, the current Presidency is handling the many problems they were handed, with seriousness and care in just 15 months. There is NO magic wand. We, Americans need to stop acting like spoiled teens....moody and ungrateful. We need to grow up and support America and our Presidency like we have in the past.

Its a FACT that Nancy Pelosi Knew about Massa in OCTOBER. She

lied and said she heard about it in February. Same liars on capital

    hill just a different day.

Dems have controlled congress for 4 years now...
Much of what is wrong in goverment and in Washington is goverment lead. You cant blame President Bush for everything although you can blame him for a lot of things.

The Dems with Barney Frank and Chris Dodd created the Housing Bubble and the Housing Crisis. They collapsed the markets.

Now you have Nancy protecting Charlie Rangel and protecting Massa...She is letting corruption continue.

It's kind of hard to reform Washington politics when one party constantly votes NO on everything. Add to that the right leaning Supreme Court overturning the 100 year old decision that prevented corporations from bribing congressmen (I mean exercising their free speech) and it's an almost impossible task. I'm not saying there aren't some entrenched Democrats that don't want to change the status quo either. They are the ones who need to heed Mr. Hildebrand's words or risk losing their jobs and all those cushy perks.

slaughtered, and rightfully so. The majority of the country still respects American values; Biblical values. Catoring to fringe radicals and gays isn't in the best interest of this country, and Obama is finding that out. Just because the majority doesn't cry and whine like the fringe and gays, doesn't mean we don't have a foothold on uprooting the congress....yes, a slaughter's coming indeed...and hopefully the congress will end up conservative; whether repub or dem....we need to restore honor in this country. Too bad we cannot empty out the White House as well in the fall; Axlerod, Emanuel, Gibbs, Jarrett....all Anti-American, all America haters...and wanting to weaken and destroy this nation. When the media gives so much time to sexual deviants like Hildebrand, well, the media will soon learn...as evident with low ratings and liberal newspapers having to shut their doors. Conservatives should learn from this too; never again sit on your asses and allow the hijacking of this country by liberal loons....just look at Nancy Pelosi, Biden and Obama....do you feel safe with that type of leadership?

Does this guy not think the american people can see through a statement like this? Most of us know that the reason nothing is getting done is due strictly to the repubs. THE NO PEOPLE!!!!
We are not as stupid as they would want us to believe.
These repubs are not listening to their constituents at all they are up there voting the way they want to vote and like they said make this president fail. They better be very careful it is all going to come back to bite them in their no vote BUTTS!!!!!

What is very interesting and rather perplexing to me is that any voter -- even if they are frustrated that President Obama and the Democrats have not made as much progress over what will be almost two years in Nov. as they would have liked -– would choose Republicans who have done NOTHING for Americans but OBSTRUCT the progress that could have been made and have ABSOLUTELY NO new ideas for how our country should move forward. Why would anyone choose the party of no ideas and no progress who will only make things much worse over the party who is actually trying, if not having as much success as they arguably should?

this guy is foolish ... the conservative Dems who are holding up progress are increasingly seen as having big targets on their backs ... Lincoln in Ar is going to lose handily to Halter in the primary & the Dems will keep that seat ...

People are P/Oed that Conservative Dems are doing nothing to help move legislation forward ... Stupak has a challenger too ... both elections would have 'been lost' had those two clown not had a primary challenger and went directly to the general election to face certain defeat as Dems wouldn't show up for them and Repubs who had supported them in the past would have bolted to the GoP candidate to defeat both them clowns ...

The real grasssroots movement is getting rid of dems who aren't really dems, while the turf movement tea party is busy being nothing more than an agent for the right-wing of the GoP ...

The GoP is in for a real rude awakening this fall. ..

The reason Dems will get slaughtered is because of OBama..

They are screwing around with healthcare instead of working on jobs

    and the economy.

Forcing socialism instead of working on America and Capitalism.

    The operant word being "if."

IF Dems do not get their act together and pass health care, bank reform, and a bill to balance the irresponsible Supreme Court ruling, they could deserve electoral repercussions.

While Rangel's ethical investigation took time to complete, voters & the House should have demoted him a long time ago.

On the flip side, it hardly gives the GOP "high ground" (an oxymoron)–ex. Vitter, Abramoff, Delay, Foley, Cunningham, Ney, etc.

Afterall, these are politicians and should be held accoutable on either side.

I don't blame congress at all for what's happening. I blame us, the American people, for not understanding that elections aren't some sports event. Term limits and public financing of elections. Get corporations out of our Government.

If the democrats get slaughtered after the 8 year term of Bush, then the people of this country prove that our education in this country is WAY subpar.

Ain't going to happen. The GOP is SO split that the whole election will be difficult to project. If the Tea Party is aggressive with candidates the outcome for the GOP may be even worse. What thinking voter would cast a vote for candidates that have done NOTHING but say NO !!! Where's ANY landmark legislation that had been initiated by the GOP that even has ATTEMPTED to help our American family and this economy??? WE all know that the GOP has been ...layin' low and sayin' no. Even with the media hype, and ,make anything political attitude of the news agencies....we the voters determine who has , who has attemped, and who has obstructed the USA getting out of this mess of 15 plus years. I think it will be the year of the Independent and that is NOT good news for the GOP.
