Health care deadlines: Dead on arrival?

Washington (CNN) - President Obama has set them - and they've repeatedly been missed.

But with Easter recess coming, Obama's latest deadline to pass health care reform legislation could be his last one.

Over the summer, as the health care reform battle was brewing in Congress and at town hall meetings across the country, the president called on both the House and Senate to pass legislation by the end of August in order for a comprehensive bill to see its way to his desk by the end of the year.

That didn't happen.

The White House and members of Congress faced several hurdles, from Republican opposition to divisions within the Democratic Party, on specific items in the proposed legislation.

CNN has a list of all the deadlines missed so far.

Not embarrassed, more like guilty. I thought he was gonna use his Bicultural knowledge and experience to bring a more solution to our countries problems but he is leaning to the left way too much. He relies too much on the media, his intentions, self-concepts, just to name a few. Is O.K to believe in what you believe in but overall, you're making a bad name for yourself in credibility and responsibility. And all the whining has gotten me tired of him, but why should I surprised. He's the same President who goes by emotion and action than heart, it is a buzzkill.

The media still loves him and cultural young kids like myself still see him as a "cool" guy because of how he's using the system to an advantage. I don't agree with it at all, but if that's what he wants to do, fine then. Let him do what he wants to do and give us the reviews of the Pacific on Entertainment Tonight.

The voters threw the gop out with huge majorities for the Dems. Blaming this mess on the current administration is not only stupid, it's assanine. Calling the President names and saying HE is the incompetent one is hypocrisy personified! He is working to HELP Americans, and the politicians are just doing business as usual. THEY are the ones who need to go away!

Quit making deadlines on something as important as health care. All Obama cares about is cramming this crap through, he doesn't care that it is a lousy bill. Deadlines, but he couldn't possibly set himself a deadline for dealing with the lives of our soldiers, now could he?

2010/2012 to correct the great mistake of 2006/2008

I love it – under deadline two, St. barack kicked into high gear after deadline one passed. That he did – he kicked into high gear on the campaign trail for two losers in VA and NJ. Maybe if he really spent some time in Sept/Oct on health care...?????

Another artificial about to be blown, all intended to make people that the Obamacare takeover has to happen RIGHT NOW, or else! Or they could just start over and try to get it RIGHT, not "right now."

If the Democrats and President Obama would just get things done anyway they can and stop waiting for the Republicans to help, we all will be better off.

The fear/hate/obstructionist/purity Republicans have no intention or as they believe no incentive to help. So, the Democrats and the President should just get the people's work done.

Was it Nixon's Haldeman who made the remark about being "left slowly twisting in the wind"? That's what O & Company are doing to Congress. I can't bear to watch for another 2 1/2 years.

Where is the press when you need so desperately for them to report each day on how many people died because they delayed or did not receive health care? People are dying everyday as a direct result of our pitiful health insurance system! It's a disgrace. But - how many times do we have to say that?

This is just more of the same. The word "incompetence" comes to mind. Even those of us who voted for Obama have become disillusioned, angry and, most of all, embarrassed.*****Speak for yourself******

Why should the Democrats set deadlines and thus give the far right wackos such as Fox, Rush and Hannity targets to shoot at?
