Both Tim Pawlenty and Sarah Palin will help Rep. Michele Bachmann raise money in April.
Both Tim Pawlenty and Sarah Palin will help Rep. Michele Bachmann raise money in April.

Washington (CNN) – Sarah Palin and Tim Pawlenty, two potential rivals for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, will meet in Minneapolis next month to help raise money for Rep. Michele Bachmann, an outspoken conservative and popular figure among Tea Party activists.

Palin had previously announced that she would campaign for Bachmann this spring, and Bachmann's campaign followed up Thursday with the announcement that the former Alaska governor will host an April 7 fundraiser for the Bachmann's re-election campaign.

But Bachmann's campaign also announced that Pawlenty, the Minnesota governor, will be one of several "Honorary Hosts" for the fundraiser - adding an extra layer of 2012 intrigue to the event.

The other "Honorary Hosts" are also Minnesota Republicans: former Sen. Norm Coleman, Rep. John Kline and Rep. Erik Paulsen.

Bachmann's campaign said a rally with Palin is still being planned.

Michelle Bachman is a total nut. I cannot believe the people of Minnesota (her district anyway) voted for this dingbat. Figures Palin would "stump" for her. And Pawlenty, well, he is the Governor of that state after all. But, really, this doesn't do anything for his credibility, damaging it even further!!

Laughable. As a woman, it's disturbing to see the likes of Palin and Bachman in leadership roles at all. Shouldn't they be home baking cookies? To think of the direction they'd like to take us baffles me that they get the support that they do. Should women plan on losing voting rights too with all their backwards thinking? They already want to take our reproductive rights away Get smart, especially young women, and take these extremists out of office!

I have heard this woman speak and she is WACKY!

Michele Bachmann spends more time outside of the District she represents than in it! For someone who has the highest Unemployment and Home Foreclosure rate in Minnesota, Bachmann's list of accomplishments in Congress is laughable.

Bachmann's use of fear mongering and lies at a regular pace is more than enough to send money to State Senator Tarryl Clark. Clark is running for Congress in Minnesota's 6th Congressional District who will put Michele Bachmann's feet to the fire and keep pace with her on the issues.

Michele Bachmann, like Sarah Palin and Tim Pawlenty, is more of a TV celebrity than she is a Legislator at the National level.

Bachmann noted that the last swine flu outbreak was during the Carter Adminstration and found it curious that this one was also during a Democratic Administration.

Is it just coincidence that she's completely wrong: the previous swine flu outbreak occurred during the Ford Administration. But, Bachmann, never, ever lets facts, truth, or evidence get in the way of an opportunity to spew hatred.

She thinks Social Security is socialism that needs to be dismantled but she hasn't complained about the hundreds of thousand of dollars her family receives in Farm Subsidies!

If Michelle is a tea party favorite it only proves the tea party movement is made up of religious right wing nuts. Religion is great but our forefathers fought to separate church and state and the republicans would love nothing more to combine them, they love to steal America’s rights away from the people. Michelle said she fasted for two days with her husband and God told her to run for office, she also mocks the less fortunate. She is nothing but a whack-o that manipulates those with faith hiding behind the fictitious facade of religion. MOST Minnesotans are much revolted appalled with the 6th ward for electing her. The tea baggers are phony racist republicans who can’t admit they are republican. Grass roots my butt, wake up fools most realize who you are.

So–is this why Sarah resigned as governor of Alaska? Just what did she say was the reason she had to resign? Did anyone hear her say she was resigning to write a book, have a talk show, try her hand at comedy, go on the speech giving circuit, campaign for other politicians?

Really, Sarah. Don't sell the American people short. We do have more common sense than to think you are doing all this to help this country.

So Pawlenty wants to paint himself as a big fan of Palin and Bachmann. These two women represent big government intrusion into women's bedrooms. These two women want to take away free choice regarding women's reproductive rights. It's not really a smart move considering Pawlenty's presidential hopes. It helps him secure the Republican nomination but at the same time it sends a loud and clear message that Pawlenty supports big government intrusion. A little cognitive dissonance with that conservatism philosophy? Hmmm.

I am by no means a fan of Palin's but my comment is not meant to bash her. Is she really still considered a potential 2012 candidate? Shouldnt the future President be active in politics–as an insider and not a bystander? I've thought her projects as of late showed that she wasnt interested in being an insider anymore. I am looking forward to her Alaska documentary–just so long as she doesnt say one word in it. Her voice (and thoughts) irk me. That was a bash- but I do really think she isnt interested in being President. I find it weird that CNN keeps referring to her as a potential candidate.

  133. Randolph Carter, I'm no expert but....

What the tea party folks and, in fact, most other Americans fail to realize is that unchecked global capitalism is the root cause of every single one of the problems that confront us today. Think about it. No real job growth for the past decade. Increased income disparity. Environmental degradation. Wars over resources (Surprise, surprise, surprise: Yemen has oodles of natural gas and a brand new gas liquification plant, so suddenly, we find "terrorists" there). You think the wars for fossil fuels are bad, wait till the water starts running out. Factual news has been replaced with narrowly focused opinion and inuendo. Terrorism is a response to global neo-colonialism and severe global inequality. Failure on our government's part to reform anything is due to huge corporate donations to our congress critters. The Democrats and Republicans are no different. Their main task is to maintain the status quo so that the economic elite get theirs while the rest suffer. The illusion that there are two different ideologies vying for control is maintained to keep us divided and hateful toward eachother and distract us from who's really pulling the puppet strings. Single-payer healthcare, for example, would help everyone from the man on the street to business owners who would have the burden of providing benefits to their employees removed. And it would reduce the deficit. But, once again, the corporate propaganda machine has terrified the ignorant masses with a socialist boogie-man scenario, as outlined in that fund-raising presentation left behind at that meeting in FL, so once again the average American votes against his or her best interest. I have not yet seen the CBO do a cost-benefit analysis of single-payer, have you? They are afraid of what it would show. It's frightening, really. We are ruled by money junkies. I take comfort in two facts. First, there is not much left to steal from the poor and working class, so the elite have begun eating eachother (why were some companies bailed out and others allowed to fail last year?) Second, such a system becomes unsustainable as more have-nots are created. The problem with unregulated capitalism is that eventually nobody has any money left except for the top 5%.

But just keep believing what your corporate masters want you to believe, consumerbots. Have a nice day!

P.S. Ayn Rand is still an idiot!

Associating himself with the Tea Party, Bachman and Palin is one of the worst things Pawlenty could do for his career.

Tim, I voted for you for Governor of Minnesota. If you're going to associate yourself with these people you'll get no vote from me when you run for president. You've been fairly good at keeping it real. I don't agree with everything you do but that's how it goes.

Neither Palin or Bachman represent any semblance of reality. I'm not looking for a leader that wears a tinfoil hat or waves a banner of ignorance with pride. I'm looking for realist and someone who will protect my rights and not create legislation based on fear.

If you choose this direction you'll not only lose me, you'll lose about 50% of the people who voted for you for Governor. We're waiting for the opportunity to get Bachman out of office. Be part of finding a better candidate for that position instead of supporting the dogma of the crazy and ignorant. Don't support people with a tinfoil hats who run around making up stories.
