Palin to testify in e-mail case

Sarah Palin has been asked by the U.S. Department of Justice to testify against David C. Kernell.
Sarah Palin has been asked by the U.S. Department of Justice to testify against David C. Kernell.

(CNN) - Sarah Palin and her husband Todd will testify in the federal case against a Tennessee man who allegedly accessed Palin's private e-mail account during the 2008 presidential race, Palin's attorney told CNN Thursday.

"Governor and Mr. Palin have been asked by the U.S. Department of Justice to testify in its ongoing criminal prosecution in the case of U.S. v Kernell," attorney Thomas Van Flein said in a statement. "The Palins expect to testify in person in Knoxville, Tennessee."

The case involves University of Tennessee student David C. Kernell, the 22-year old son of a Democratic state representative.

Kernell was indicted in October 2008 after he allegedly used information freely available online to guess the password to Palin's personal Yahoo! account, the name of which was posted on numerous Web sites at the time. Kernell accessed the account around the same time questions were being raised about Palin's use of personal e-mail accounts to conduct state business as governor of Alaska.

After gaining access to Palin's account, Kernell allegedly reset the password, scanned her account for potentially damaging information and posted the new password to a public Web site.

Federal prosecutors broadened their case against Kernell in 2009, charging him with four felonies: identity theft, wire fraud, computer fraud and obstructing a federal investigation. Kernell has pleaded not guilty to all four counts.

A federal judge has set the trial date for April 20.

Reached by CNN, Kernell's attorney Wade Davies declined to comment on the case.

You Palin-hating ACORN morons, don't you have anything better to do with your time than show your stupidity on a daily basis commenting on such Commies News Network (CNN) stories? Probably not.

if she supports 'climategate' e-mail hacking, but cries when it happens to her, then she is a hypocrite. END OF STORY

I'm sure it was easy to break into her account since her password was most likely "guest"

Well, considering the Chicago Machine Politician dispatched 200 reporters to wasilla to find "dirt" on Palin during the campaign- and found NOTHING- I doubt Palin has anything to worry about with this. She rose to power fighting corruption, even within her own party, while Obama rose to power using the corruption within his party. I wonder had the lame stream media sent 200 reporters to "pay to play" chicago to investigate the community organizer last year, would we have an anti-American socialist as prez? Very doubtful.

It was called "Hospice" in other, sane, circles. If you've ever known someone with a terminal disease you would know that a service like this is necessary. Calling Hospice a "Death Panel" is insulting.

First – the guy broke the law and should face the consequences. Second – was Palin conducting official business on her personal e-mail accounts?

"PDX.................You are rehashing old liberal talking points, no response necessary."

You didn't say it was a rhetorical question. You asked for examples of mistruths. I am sorry, but you don’t get to pick and choose.

I hope no one expects this chronic liar is going to tell the truth. She may swear on a stack of bibles, but she will never tell the truth. The woman is stupid and self serving. She has no ones interest in mind except her own. She gives women and the American people a bad name. She is a total embarrassment to the human race.

In this case then, why isn't everyone who "hacks" intentionally or unintentionally into anyone's email accounts afforded the same treatment then?

Which hand will she use when she takes the oath? The one with the writings like God's? Or the other one? As for Mr. Palin, I don't think this man can identify the truth if it hits him in his behind. He looks like a slease bag. I can't wait for this sorry pair to just go away. Far, far away.

There is no such person as Governor Palin anymore. Ex Governors do not retain the title. Only Ex Senators receive this privilege.

I don't think the account was "hacked"... the password was just guessed. There was nothing accessed by illegal or forced means... there is a reason why people are recommended to choose passwords that are not easily guessed. If she is going to be so stupid to have a password that is that easy to guss then it serves her right to have her information seen... geez, that's like leaving your door open and being surprised when someone walks through it.

In part, yes. But that is not the damage I was referring to (as that is nation-wide). Alaska is owned by the oil industry. The residents are paid “hush money” in the form of an annual dividend to ensure the oil companies are taken care of. Republicans love it and, unless something drastic changes, Alaska will always be a “red” state. What I was talking about were more specifically attributed to suggestions, promises and bills on behalf of Palin during her run as a governor. Far too many to get into here, but if you’d like an interesting perspective, there are videos of her initial run as governor where she makes sweeping promises to the Alaskan people for votes – including the completion of a particular project she repeatedly insisted was an important and necessary step for native Alaskan People.

    The Bridge to Nowhere.

The push to expand drilling rights, the establishment an illegal bounty on slain wolves and her abandonment of her post aside, this woman is truly would have been the worst thing to hit this country. I am glad and relieved she lost. Besides, it seems she has found the career of choice best suited for her. Comedic televised political commentary.

My bet – she quits halfway through testimony. She couldn't finish a job she wanted and campaigned for. Heck, it took her something like 7 years and multiple colleges to get a simple communications degree. What a crock! She can't articulate an idea if her life depended on it. She's a quitter!

The best part of the story is the idiot attorney calling her Governor Palin. The correct title is Quitter Palin. This loser was governor for less than two years. She is a joke.

Interesting that publishing the Climate Science Unit e-mails is 'cool', but publishing those of resigned Governor Palin is not. Mmmmmm....have some hypocrisy with your partisan fawning over an incompetent and ethically-challenged quitter who couldn't find Russia on a map much less see it from her house!

I wonder if they will pay her the full $100,000 speaking fee. I wonder if she will have her pass word "GUEST" written in the palm of her hand. I wonder if her kids will travel with her. When ask if she will tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, I wonder if she will say "NO" or "YOU BETCHA".
