(CNN) - Sarah Palin and her husband Todd will testify in the federal case against a Tennessee man who allegedly accessed Palin's private e-mail account during the 2008 presidential race, Palin's attorney told CNN Thursday.
"Governor and Mr. Palin have been asked by the U.S. Department of Justice to testify in its ongoing criminal prosecution in the case of U.S. v Kernell," attorney Thomas Van Flein said in a statement. "The Palins expect to testify in person in Knoxville, Tennessee."
The case involves University of Tennessee student David C. Kernell, the 22-year old son of a Democratic state representative.
Kernell was indicted in October 2008 after he allegedly used information freely available online to guess the password to Palin's personal Yahoo! account, the name of which was posted on numerous Web sites at the time. Kernell accessed the account around the same time questions were being raised about Palin's use of personal e-mail accounts to conduct state business as governor of Alaska.
After gaining access to Palin's account, Kernell allegedly reset the password, scanned her account for potentially damaging information and posted the new password to a public Web site.
Federal prosecutors broadened their case against Kernell in 2009, charging him with four felonies: identity theft, wire fraud, computer fraud and obstructing a federal investigation. Kernell has pleaded not guilty to all four counts.
A federal judge has set the trial date for April 20.
Reached by CNN, Kernell's attorney Wade Davies declined to comment on the case.

I was reading this this morning on another website and I thought out loud well here goes CNN. This woman is a pathetic and people had better pray this narcissistic is never elected to the WH. If you think days are bad you have seen NOTHING yet. Pretty is as pretty does and beauty is only skin deep; she has had plenty of time since the election to wise up and study and put her narcissistic views to the side. We as a country do not need it and this woman is old news literally. Without the media Palin would not be anything even with her books.

You know, I don't object to the guy being prosecuted, but Palin is a complete twit for using an easily deducible password. Then again, she's just a twit.
I wonder if they'll show the emails which proves she was doing government business using personal email which is not good...
How come all these people hate Sarah Palin? I like her. And who cares if she wrote some notes on her hand? Really? Maybe she didn't have any paper and couldn't afford a teleprompter. What do I care?
Some of you are getting it wrong. The guy who cracked her account did not guess her password. He guessed the correct answers to Yahoo's lame security questions, like "where did you meet your husband?" and "what is your zip code?" The robustness of her password was not an issue; the immediate problem was lax security by Yahoo.
The second problem, of course, is her being naive, arrogant or just plain dumb enough to use a Yahoo account for state business.
Why is she still referred to as "Gov."? Didn't she quit?

I'm certainly no Palin fan, but this was pure stupidity on Kernell's part. If he'd just stayed out of it, Palin would have sunk her boat all by herself. She didn't need any outside help.
As long as she's in the news, that's the most important thing.
How come her husband " Todd" wasn't indicted in Alaska over the pipeline contracts he gave his friends $$$$$$$$$ ?
