Abramoff, DeLay appear in new DNC ad

A new DNC ad airing in Washington targets Republicans on ethics.
A new DNC ad airing in Washington targets Republicans on ethics.

Washington (CNN) - With Democrats like Eric Massa and Charlie Rangel stealing headlines, Republicans want to talk about ethics.

The Democratic National Committee is happy to oblige.

The DNC has launched a new TV ad, airing on cable channels in Washington, D.C., called "GOP: Racked by Scandal." The 30-second spot is a response to an ad launched earlier this week by the Republican National Committee, attacking Democrats over the ethics questions surrounding Massa and Rangel.

The new ad hits back at Republicans, flashing images of disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff and former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, who stepped down in 2005 under a cloud of legal problems.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is presiding over "a caucus racked by scandal," the ad's narrator claims, as viewers are reminded of Louisiana Sen. David Vitter's prostitution scandal and an FBI investigation into Nevada Sen. John Ensign.

"Mitch McConnell and Michael Steele, they have done nothing to hold them accountable," the ad says. "After years of scandal, tell Republicans it's time to clean up their act."

UPDATE: RNC spokesman Doug Heye responded to the new ad.

"At the risk of providing Democrats some advice, the very week the words 'tickle fight' were thrust into the American political lexicon might not be the best time for Democrats to highlight ethics issues," Heye told CNN.

Dave if you believe that our economy went sour only after Democrats took control of congress, then I am sure there are idiots out there smarter than you. Our economy had stagnant growth starting in 2002. Look at the GDP and Growth charts and you will see where our economic growth began to slow dramatically in 2002 and continued until it puked in 2008. Were Democrats to blame? NO. Were Republicans to blame? NO You may then ask who is to blame. We all are to blame because our own greed allowed us to turn a blind eye to what was being done in our financial markets and we turned a blind eye on the way we were (NOT) paying for the wars we were in. We all just let it go. Democrats blame Republicans because that’s what they do. Republicans blame Democrats because that’s what they do but you don’t have to believe every word they speak. Read and check things for yourself before you allow someone else to feed you a load of crap that you take unchecked and allow them to make a following fool out of you of what they say simply because they said it.

Don't forget Ted Stevens getting free deals on his Mansion in Alaska, Mark Foley's pedophile issues, Craig's guilty plea for sex in MN airport bathroom, Duke Cunningham's guilty plea for taking bribes from defense lobbyists and going to jail...last but not least Bush/Cheney for lying about Iraq to make $ for the company Cheney personally ran for 8 years.

@ Dave . . . "Oh by the way the economy was awesome under Bush until Dems controlled congress"

What??!! Are you high??!! Yeah it was "awesome" if you happened to be in the top tax bracket that he gave "awesome" tax cuts to . . . TWICE!

Yes but honestly there are frauds and shiesters in both parties. Until the Supreme Court's horrible ruling is overturned and campaign finance reform is taken seriously...both parties will have corruption issues. Congress also needs a LIFETIME ban on members leaving to go work as lobbyists.

It's laughable that the DNC would bring up ethics after their own ethics scandals. Corruption knows no party lines as proven over the years, but the Democrats have pulled far into the lead over the past couple years.

If commentors use their names, would there be more civil and intelligent comments. Those that hide behind strange names are probably just cowards who do not want to face whom they accuse or face the public and defend their comments.

The constitution gives the accused the right to face his accuser

Every now and then, some one like Monster Zero will slip up and admit what all of this foolishness is about, "White christian Americans."

President Obama is not trying to help people according to race, he has no problem with white people as 1/2 of his family is white. Black people study history as a form of knowledge. It is not retained to create hate. It is retained as an appreciation of what people went through to make it possible for President Obama to be where he is today. So your assessment of what he thinks of white people is wrong. However, you should ask him if you really want to know.

Christians are people who have made Christ their choice, not only white people. It does not go by color, size, race, age or any thing else. Americans are people who were born in this country or have valid documents to be considered an American.

Having said that, the above article is more about hyprocrisy than anything else. "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones." Republicans are trying to blame Massa's facsination with men on the leadership of the DNC, but it is not their fault. However, Republicans can't really talk because they have a wealth of corruption in their own party. So you see, the ad is about having selective memory and trying to fool other to forget by turning mole hills into mountains.

They're both guilty of scandal. Typically, though, the Republicans get in trouble over money and the Democrats get in trouble over sex. Lately, each party has gotten into trouble over both.

Now if we could just get them to stop behaving like spoiled children who take their marbles and go home if they don't get their way.

Is there any leadership in either party?

Well...you have to admit when a Republican gets caught, it is for deed it has usually been going on for a while and it is really offensive to the moral majority.

After all, when Dick Cheney shot another Republican Congressman in Texas with buckshot, it never even crossed his mind that to say he was sorry.

I must say I pay a lot more attention to an ad about the Republican scandals. It just like at the checkout in the grocery store. I always look at the headlines in the scandal magazines as I wait to checkout. I may not buy the magazine but I do like to look.
