Brown adding to $6 million war chest

Right now, Brown is a superstar in the Republican Party, but there is a big bull's eye painted on his back for 2012.
Right now, Brown is a superstar in the Republican Party, but there is a big bull's eye painted on his back for 2012.

Washington (CNN) – Sen. Scott Brown was elected just two months ago, but the Massachusetts Republican is wasting little time preparing for what is expected to be a fight to hold onto his seat.

Brown will add to his $6 million war chest next week at his first Washington, DC fundraiser hosted by the law and government affairs firm Duane Morris. Daniel Winslow, a partner in the firm, is the legal counsel for Brown's Senate campaign committee.

Brown's win in the January special election to fill the late Sen. Edward Kennedy's seat was a major victory for the Republican Party. Psychologically, the GOP took over the seat of one of the most influential Democrats in Senate history; practically, Brown provided the crucial 41st vote to allow Republicans to maintain filibusters against Democratic legislation.

Right now, Brown is a superstar in the Republican Party, but there is a big bull's eye painted on his back. He represents a Democratic state and it is a guarantee that Democratic-aligned groups will spend heavily to try to take back Kennedy's seat in 2012.

For now, Brown has a pretty good head start when it comes to cash in the bank. Donations were flowing in at such a fast clip in the closing days of the special election campaign that he was unable to spend it. Good thing for him, Brown will need it when he runs for his own six-year term in 2012.

Brown like a lot of the other fear/hate/obstructionist/purity Republicans are going to be in for a rude awakening come 2010/2012 election when they lose because of the way they have been acting this last yr.

We are proud to have such a Dynamic leader and independent thinker
as a Republican from Mass. He will make our opposition through the
fillibuster mechanism, heard more clearly in the future.

Now all we need is for someone somewhere to step up from within the Democratic Party and be an independent thinker, and look around
and see what a corrupt, devious and manipulative group you all have become. You have collectively lost sight of the means... blindly driven by the ends. Is there a Scott Brown among you who will rally the Democratic base back to fairness and reason?

    God Bless America !!

Scot Brown, champion of Plutocracies and greed-head coprporations everywhere, the king of astro-turf activism, and undoubtedly a one-term hack who will do so much damage to the interests of Massachusetts they'll run him out with pitchforks and tar buckets.

Right.....................the repuks did not "take over" anything, what happened (supposedly) was an election and he won by a narrow margin...............what. CNN should report the news and stop reporting an opinion.

Maybe I'm confused, Brown was elected because people thought they were supporting a man of the people, but maybe its turning out that he's a man of people with big wallets?

It looks like Wall Street has found a perfect puppet to spew their pro-fascist propaganda in Brown.

Brown hasn't done one thing in Washington like the rest of the GOP but is already campaigning for re-election.

He plans to run for president in 2012. All he is is another help-the-rich-ignore-the-poor Republican.

Sen. Brown is not a super star, he's a super nova – a big flash that'll eventually turn into a tiny black hole.

News flash for Sen. Brown and his followers:

You may be drunk with glory now over your/his winning in a largely Democratic state, but the other edge to that sword will be the galvanization of the opposition in Massachusetts and in other states.

Enjoy the party now, folks. That light at the end of the tunnel hat you're seeing? It's really a freight train headed your way!

"He represents a Democratic state and it is a guarantee that Democratic-aligned groups will spend heavily to try to take back Kennedy's seat in 2012".

Mark Preston, I'll write this real slow so you liberal boot lickers get it, THIS STATE is CHANGING and we will NOT be tied to the never worked day in their lives Kennedy's EVER AGAIN.

IT IS NOT KENNEDY'S SEAT or were you busy getting tingles up your leg for Martha Coakley to notice what BROWN and us VOTERS SAID?

He will have his hands full...especially after being in office such a short time ...and...spending most of his tenure away from Mass. business and campaigning in other states for candidates not even REMOTELY associated with his state. Many folks that voted for this guy are ALREADY insulted. He will have a hard battle....especially if another Kennedy should decide to run. UGLY...but quick.

Not a single republican in all of America has half the amount of hate for anybody that a majority of Democrats have for this man, this should tell you all you need to know about what you need to do to defend decency in America.

Maybe if he poses nude again, all the women will go gaa gaa. He can also show off his two daughters (offer them up again) and all the men will go gaa gaa.

What does he need money for? He's a pimp.

  20. Mr. Moderate

Well given that he dared to break ranks with the right and vote for the jobs bill and the fact he will be one of 33 Senate races in 2012, he's not going to get the level of support he got this year.

  21. The Calabash Kid

This guy shows a little more intelligence and a little more independence than do other Conservatives in the Senate. I'm sure the Republican leadership will whip him into shape soon so that he talks like all other Conservative, votes like all other Conservatives, dresses like all other Conservatives, and does not allow himself to have a non-authorized thought.

There is no room in Conservatism for individualism or individuals. You must comply, and resistance is futile. If you show too much spirit, Conservatives start calling you a Liberal-Socialist and your days are numbered.
