The Department of Justice has issued subpoenas to at least six Las Vegas businesses as part of a criminal investigation into whether Nevada Sen. John Ensign used his influence to financially benefit a former aide, according to a Las Vegas television station.
CNN affiliate KLAS reports the DOJ issued several subpoenas March 8 as part of an investigation that arose after Ensign admitted to an affair with the aide's wife.
CNN has not yet independently verified this report.

Why is it...that when a republican breaks the law, commits an ethical violation they process is prolonged and sometimes in the case of Tom Delay is completly forgotten or dropped.
But darn de darn just let a republican jay walk and the darn republicans scream, whine and moan and get their shorts all in a twisted butt. I guess it is the thing, we republicans are above the law but we must try to turn a jaywalking incident into something big...gee geee geeeee.
This guy Ensign should already be in prison.
Just think of how boring our political life would be if our elected officials ever learned how to keep their pants zipped.
Oh, this should be interesting. Maybe the GOP should have waited to see what would happen with this before they launched that holier than thou ad about former rep. Massa. I can't wait to see the same people stand by Ensign. Say it slowly with me...hypocrisy.
I hope this guy resigns along with Mark Sanford and any other hyprocritical GOP members who is asking that all dems with scandal resign.
Coburn of Oklahoma was complicit in suggesting that Ensign's parents bribe the mistress and her husband and children. Ensign and Coburn need to go to jail. So does Tom Delay.
Why does it take so long to hold a republican accountable?
