Obama's final push for health care

President Obama travels to Virginia's George Mason University Friday for a final rhetorical push for the critical test of his ability to deliver on a signature promise of his presidency.

Washington (CNN) – With Sunday's House vote on healthcare reform moving closer, President Obama travels to Virginia's George Mason University Friday for a final rhetorical push for the critical test of his ability to deliver on a signature promise of his presidency.

White House officials say the speech will frame the vote as a choice between a "victory for the insurers" or "victory for the American people." They say he will take aim at Washington and its "inability to do the right thing so much of the time."

That, the president's aides say, is the same message he will give member of Congress. Mr. Obama is expected to meet with and call members after his morning speech.

The White House, aides say, feels that it had a "really good day" yesterday and has a "good sense of momentum," picking up the AFL-CIO, Change to Win and Federation of American Hospitals endorsements and convincing more members to change their votes from no to yes.

What President Obama and the Dems in congress are really saying is.......don't worry about the details or the lousy process or the back room deals and the armtwisting or the polls saying the american people don't want the bill, just accept it because it will save the President from a major defeat and you will all learn the details after its signed and then you will love it.

Is the Congress and President willing to take this health insurance that they are pushing on us?

It is remarkable that real health care reform is still possible after the GOP campaign of distortions, half-truths, and outright lies. When there are positive results from health care reform, voters should remember the GOP did not contribute any support or votes.

No, what they're pushing for is a victory for socialism and a disaster for the American people and a disaster for the American economy.

It is not the American People vs. the Insurers...

This is the American People vs. their Legislators...

Let's show the rest ofthe world that we can join them in figuring out Healthcare.

When did "health care reform" digress into "health care insurance overregulation". How about lowering health care costs so most bills can be paid without insurance!! ?? !!

It will be a great day when finally the health care program passes. It will be a relief to finally have a health care program that includes the have nots. It is also a great day when our great country joins the rest of the industrial countries in securing a health care program for everyone. Those who opposed the change will one day say it was a good idea and they should vote for it when there heart tells them it is the right thing to do.
For those who opposed the president they are forgetting he is not doing this for his own benefit but he has the vision and hope that everybody deserves the right to stay healthy. The Republicans have been an obstacle and it seems there vision of a healthy nation is so clouded they do not see the light on the other side. Mr. president thank you for pushing a human right that people deserve a health coverage. Our elected officials are more concerned about there re-election bids rather than being concerned about the health of the citizens of our great country. Let them put themselves on the other side and see how they will feel. Lets hope Sunday will be a day filled with smiles, blessing, stop the bickering and a new day to bring our country back on track. God Bless.

White House officials say the speech will frame the vote as a choice between a "victory for the insurers" or "victory for the American people."

The word insurers needs to be taken out and replaced with the trial lawyers. The proposed legislation punishes states financially that pass legislation that affects attorney fees or tort caps. Imagin that the new law would punish tort reform. Even Warren Buffet a hard core democrat said the bill should be thrown out because its about a new entitlement and not about reforming the system.

If excessive force is required to enact unpopular legislation impacting all citizens of a nation, that is all one need know to seek its defeat.

It looks as though Obama, Pelosi and Reid will accomplish their selfish objective on healthcare but only by deceiving the American people through outright lies, deception, bribery (in some cases it should be classified as criminal), sleazy tactics, etc. Never has our government resorted to such tactics and now that also includes the elimination of an up-and down vote. Our democracy has been given a great setback and Obama you are truly not deserving to hold the highest office in our Nation. Your outright lies without any moral turpitude is a reflection on your character and the sooner we rid our Federal government of this "cancer" the better we will be. Hopefully, States and the Republican party will continue the fight until this dreaded legislation is defeated or overturned - we can do no less. I have faith that our Nation can also survive these contemptuous and immoral characters. Obama, allowing this conduct to continue and even sanctioning it indicates you are truly devoted to a cause that will lead to socialism and forsake all our inherent rights. You have abused this high office and the quicker you are replaced the better.

Passing such a largely opposed, hugely expensive totally partisan federal government bill in the middle of a recession when the only other such expensive program they have attempted ( The Stimulus Bill ) has been a distinct failure and then misusing political procedures to get this done is nothing to be proud of.

The insurance companies would love to see this bill passed. It only gives them more specific reasons to raise their rates to levels we have never known. There is nothing in this legislation to keep this from happening and everything in this bill to make it happen. Oops.

    ....And another thing Mr. President:

You'd be surprised how many of us Dems and Rethugs alike are TOTALLY COOL with you cutting ALL the backroom deals you need to to get this health reform passed. Why, some of you nitwits may ask? Because the gov't has been cutting deals sinceits' inception to get things done. They call it "compromise". Whatever. Unfortunately, in previous administrations, these deals have been cut to benefit the wealthy and private corporations and large campaign contributors NOT THE AMERICAN PUBLIC.

So, cut away Mr. President, cut away and get 'er done!!

I read where someone was arrested at the white house. They should arrest pelosi, reid and obama for lying to the American public and trying to deceive us with this piece of garbage they want to call a bill for healthcare! What a joke. So he is sticking around to try and make life hard for some of the ones that are trying to vote the way their people want them to vote. It would do the heart good to see the reps that were yes votes turn and vote no. What goes around comes around. obama doesn't care about any of these reps. He just wants their vote. The same holds true for pelosi and reid. In fact, I heard that pelosi had asked a few of the ones that are not going to run again to just vote yes because it didn't matter what people thought because they were quitting. What a true piece of left wing dishonest work on her part. They are the 3 stooges at work. Lots of laughs, but nothing between the ears!

Good luck President Obama. We are pulling for you.
The media is really trying to hang the success or failure of this administration on health care.

If all presidents before Obama survived after the Republicans denied the health care to America, then, this president will surely survive.

I hope CNN starts giving more agressive interviews.

Ask the AFP people who threw money at the man with Parkinson's Disease what they can offer him. They won't! When Repubs are in power they never push for the little man except to give themselves tax cuts.

If this smelly piece of over-expensive garbage is passed, it WILL NOT be a "victory for the American People". It Will Be a slap in the face to the majority of the American people that have made it very clear they are opposed to this government takeover of our healthcare system. This Administration and the progressives in congress are so fixated on their Socialistic Goals, they're ignoring the needs of the people and the country.

What makes me angry about these republicans is they're such idiots and hypocrits! they voted for tax cut bills in 2001 and 2003 and medicare tax cut bill back in 2000 that cost the United States and american people over $1.5 TRILLLLLLION dollars! and this Healthcare bill would actually give us an immediate $134 BILLLLION dollar SURPLUS!...let me say this again...SURPLUS SURPLUS SURPLUS!! so what is it republicans? is it because he's a black president who knows BETTER than you? because what you've shown us over the past 10 years is obstructinism and ignorance! TAX CUTS ARE NOT A SOLUTION...THEY ONLY BENEFIT THE RICH!!!

May the power of Karma stop you Obama.

You are not doing this right, this is sham, this is putting Leftist idealogy on the entire nation. You have bribed, extorted votes, this is illegal, the bill in unconstitutional.

To pass such a peice of gigantic legislation with a razor thin majority is pathetic. Using parlimentary tricks and reconcilliation. If you should somehow succeed don't you dare claim a victory of any sorts because it is not.

We the people will rise up and defeat you. Your actions are cowardly and are those of a desperate man who has no morals. It's your own fault that you are in this situation, it's because you totally lack an original idea of any sorts. You embrace Socialism and Marxism and smugly sit there and smile.

What goes around comes around, and you are sure to get yours.
