Aide: Obama more excited by bill passing than being elected

The president was joined by Vice President Biden and senior staff in the White House Sunday night as the health care reform bill passed in the House.
The president was joined by Vice President Biden and senior staff in the White House Sunday night as the health care reform bill passed in the House.

Washington (CNN) – The significance of Sunday night’s historic health care reform vote in the House was not lost on President Obama, according to one of his senior aides.

“I haven’t seen the president so happy about anything – other than his family – as long as I’ve known him and worked with him,” White House senior adviser David Axelrod said Monday on CNN’s The Situation Room. “Even Election Night, he was not as excited as he was last night.”

Asked again by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer about the president’s reaction, Axelrod reiterated the unprecedented nature of the moment for the president.

“I am here to bear witness, Wolf,” Axelrod said. “That is absolutely the case. He was excited that night [on Election Night] but not the way he was last night. Last night, he had the feeling of satisfaction that we had actually helped so many people across this country and given the American people more security and more peace of mind, and that this is something that will benefit generations to come.”

On Tuesday, Obama is set to sign the 2000+ page Senate bill passed by the House, making that piece of legislation the law of the land and setting in motion an overhaul of the nation’s health care system.

Also on Tuesday, the Senate will take up a second bill of tweaks to the larger bill. The two bills taken together constitute the Democrats’ plans for health care reform. Senate Republicans have vowed to try to interpose a number of procedural obstacles in an attempt to frustrate passage of the second bill. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, said late last week that he has the 51 votes necessary to pass the second bill through a special budgetary procedure designed to avoid a Republican filibuster.

Obama has my vote forever! I will never vote for a republican after what I see now in Boener and the gang. They have become obsolete. And the women...Bachman, Pailin, Maulkin,....etc. are witches.

As I wish that this legislation was for the people, I cannot! The people said no and this President and his crew didn't listen. In fact not just not listen, they ignored us. Unfortunately they failed to realize that federal orders to mandate buying a product is unlawful and therefore unconstitutional in it's simplist form. The government works for us and must understand its position with respect to the people. This President talks about Mr Bush doing whatever he wanted, but yet how is Mr Obama any different? NO doubt he and his crew have some excuse, but no matter how astute, it holds no water...period. He just jammed a bill down Americas throat and said pay for it! The discussion held on this subject was not accomplished in a democratic way, but was done in a dishonorable fashion. This shows the character of those who think they know best for us...Democrats. This pathetic display of kindergarten antics tears at the fabric of our Constitution and democratic process! I would call on all Americans to witness this shameful act against us and vote against these obviously "self-annointed guardians" ! We the people need to correct this injustice and vote them out and show them who really runs our government, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. Such childish behavior coming from elected? officials. This is almost embarrassing and mocks what we stand for...freedom! We will see who has the last word in November.

If there is one thing for sure every biggot in America has been energized. The GOP did not want Health Care to pass because they wanted the Black President to fail. Those of us that are not in your polls understand that. These people are ignorant and don't even have enough sense to know that if they have Medicare or Social Security it is Govt run. While the GOP pushes big business and profits, these nuckle heads go out in the street and spewn hate. The GOP knows this and they are hoping to incite something negative. The GOP is negative. To think of the horrible things they have called people over the weekend. They do it as cowards. 50 years ago it was the midnight riders burning crosses and lyncing innocent people. Now they can hide behind Fox News, Beck, the Birthers, and Teabaggers......Thank God for Rachel, Keith, Ed, Tim and Chris – at least they shed some real light on their evil deeds.

Because it feels good to deliver on a promise. You know when your child asked for that special toy thinking they'll never get it. Then the look on their face when they open that present. Priceless. I feel ya Obama. I feel ya.

Only a radical arrogant Elite inent on imposing his will on the American people could be excited about the passage of the massively corrupt and costly healthcare bill. How does one get excited about making the Louisiana Purchase, the Cornhusker Kickback, the Florida Gatoraide, and the $60 billion union payoff the law of the land? How does one justify the hundreds of billions of dollars that will have to be borrowed to pay off the corrupt vote buying deals. What was Rep Stupak promised to get a pro-life catholic to vote for a bill that will open the floodgates to taxpayer funded abortions?

Christians. Gotta love them (and I'm one). Give money to the wealthy, condem those for any sin (while ignoring our own). And now this. Use any tactic necessary to keep poor people from having health care. Sounds just like God's plan to me.

What a sad lot we are. May God forgive us.

The president should be proud. I'm no Pelosi fan, but she really pulled it off. What they went through to get the bill passed bore some similiarities to getting civil rights legislation to end segregation passed. Racial slurs, spitting, and vandalism emerged so blatantly that all Repubs can be proud of the amount of hatred they managed to stir up.

This is why Barack Obama ran for office and to have accomplished it with just over a year as President – well, that is amazing. I am so proud that my President and a whole lot of Democratic Representatives put the good of the people above politics. We really need this health care legislation – we've finally made the first move to providing the kind of care other western democracies provide to their citizens. THANK YOU ALL!!!

I voted for Obama, even tho I am a registered republican, and I am
totally and absolutely embarrassed by his driving the process as he did
on this health care legislation. He behaves as the chief democrat, rather
than the President of the worlds greatest country. He either
doesn't know how to lead the political leaders, or he lacks the leadership
ability to do so. He is the country's leader, not the democrats, or
republicans, but the countrys, and hence the worlds, and we should all
fear the future because of his surprising lack of leaderships skills. I am
embarrassed by this for the country, and his ineptness at leading the USA
and the rest of the world, God help us.

This President, who is often called arrogant and aloof, cares more about the well-being of the American people than he does the polls. This is the CHANGE we have been waiting for- and to all the name-callers and haters-He IS and WILL BE PRESIDENT until 2016.Get over it.
