Obama to sign health care reform into law, then promote it on the road

Washington (CNN) - President Obama will sign sweeping health care reform legislation into law at the White House on Tuesday.

Obama also will hit the road to sell the measure to a still-skeptical public, giving a speech Thursday in Iowa City, Iowa, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said. Obama launched his grass-roots drive for health care reform in Iowa City in May 2007, according to Gibbs.

The bill, which constitutes the biggest expansion of federal health care guarantees in more than four decades, passed the House of Representatives late Sunday night with no Republican support. It was approved by the Senate in December.

A separate compromise package of changes also passed the House on Sunday and still needs to be approved by the Senate. The officials noted that the Senate cannot begin debate on the package before Obama signs the underlying bill into law.

been cutting mr. obama a great deal of slack along with his democratic party. but forcing this health bill upon the nation when some 50% of americans oppose it, is just pure dictatorship with an automatic rubber stamp by democratic house/senate. time to vote out democrats and obama as soon as practicable!

What a great day for the People! We finally have a President who stands up for the People, shows intelligent and patient leadership, and does what it is right and moral rather than only political. He is a good man who truly wants to restore America and help working families.

We should support his efforts for they help you and I. Republicans only stand for corporations, the insurance companies, and banks who abuse us. They work against us and our best interests. They tell lies and spread fear among the ignorant and have no honor, character, and cannot be trusted.

It's good to see the "good and decent" win this healthcare battle and the hate and liars and racists fail. Republicans are so overwhelmed with hate of an intelligent black President they cannot even form a platform, solutions for our nation they destroyed, and find any credible leadership. They are so obsessed with the failure of President Obama and of the People, they have lost their way and cannot lead or even participate in issue resolution.

We need to celebrate Democrats victory on healthcare reform for it is all about helping and making our lives better. They are the Party of the People and they keep delivering solutions to make our lives better.

I am sick of Republican negativity, lies, fear-mongering, and open racism we saw inside the Capitol over the weekend. They do not deserve the honor of having a seat in Congress and why should we waste seats on these do-nothings when we can elect real leaders who will take their oath of office to SERVE the People seriously??

Let's get rid of these destructive Republicans in November and put in more Democrats who are working hard for OUR benefit.

Thank you President Obama for your honorable and true leadership and thank you Democrats for caring more about the People than about the corporate giants who abuse us for more and more profit.

This healthcare bill will go down in history as one of the most important and beneficial laws for America. Benefits start this Sept and they will directly be things you see and feel in a very positive way.

What is the purpose for going on the road to "sell" the measure? He got what he wanted, despite overwhelming opposition, it's the law. Now, stay in Washington DC and get moving on creating jobs.

Where is this man getting the money to go on the road and support something that he has already rammed down our throats? Where is the money coming from?

President Obama has done in 13 months what no over President over the past 70 years has been able to do. You seldom execute that type of leadership withour lossing some popularity. This reform is not perfect, but you show me one piece of government policy that is. This is monumental start down a very important road of reform. The President's numbers will go up and down over the next 8 years. Yes I sadi it!

    As for our Crazy Congress!
Bush used reconcilation to push through deep tax cuts for the mega rich. Congrats to the Dems for using this same policy to help far more Americans. Too bad Republicans forced them down that road. I thought we were suppose to work together? I have never seen the two sides so devided. It is funny, I have watched Democrats work with Republicans much better in the past, but the Republicans seem out of controll now.

Notice how the artical mentions nothing about how he/when he intends to read the bill before signing it. How many pages is this bill, and it was just made available to read a few days ago. He has been jetting all over the country since it's release. When has he had time to read it?

He's won a Pyrrhic victory, and will pay dearly for it. One-term wonder, almost certainly, if he hasn't resurrected the economy within a few months.

Idealists and ideologues who stuff bad law down the throats of others "for their own" go the way of the dodo and Jimmy Carter.

First the SECOND time in my life, I am so proud to be an American!!! (Haters, it's just a JOKE – so don't get so bent out of shape!)

As time pass, those who are blind will see and those who are disruptive would calm down and realize that – "this bill ain't so bad after all"!!!

Last night I finally watched an episode of Glenn Beck all the way through.

Most of his show consisted of him sitting next to a vintage television ranting about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. He also talked about bullys, patriots, and other things. He used a chalkboard, video clips, and other props to help him prove a point??? I'm not sure what he was trying to say. He also claimed that he was neither Republican or Democrat.

I have concluded from all this that Glenn Beck may be insane.

Hope he gives specifics as was suggested on Campbell Brown's show last night. Maybe then the public will listen, as it is apparent many don't read and only listen to the Republicans' fear tactics.

Things are not looking good for the lying republicans for the next election. I think Americans will say "Hell no!" to Boner and his obstructionists.

I see our idiot attorney general from Florida is going to file suit against this bill. Maybe if he is lucky, he will also be able to eliminate Social Security and Medicare as well. We have so few retirees in Florida, so I am sure he is not committing political suicide. Just kidding.

Right On, President Obama!!! Go for it. The repubs are still spouting hatred and acting like terrorists. They condone the insanity of a few nuts. The state attorneys better save their time, money and their assets, the highest court in the land will not overturn this decision, why can't they understand that? Go, Mr. Obama, Go.
