Washington (CNN) - Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Georgia, is in the hospital.

Doctors believe Isakson has a bacterial infection, according to spokeswoman Joan Kirchner in a statement. Kirchner added that Isakson "is responding very well to the treatment and is feeling much better."

On Monday, Kirchner said, Isakson went to Northside Hospital in Atlanta after feeling sick and dehydrated. She said the senator hopes to recover quickly and return to work.

Isakson – flip-flopper on abortion issues...anti-gay marriage and pro-gun rights. YUP – sounds like a typical Rethuglican to me. Please...do not do us a favor and return to work anytime soon...

Lets make Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Georgia, pay the bill OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET to make him understand the pain and suffering of those who do not have health coverage have to go through. Give him a little TASTE of the real world. Let him feels some burden of the middle and lower class.

Luckily he has tax payer provided healthcare that he and the other Republicans are trying mightily to deny for other Americans. We pay for their healthcare but they want to deny other Americans access to fair and equitable healthcare insurance.

If only his policy could be canceled and he would have to pay for this out of his own pocket after losing his job. Maybe then he would change his republican tune.

I think I've been told I'm like bacteria...my friends laughed!! :) They were like, "You bacteria?" They didn't even know where to start, I didn't even know where to start either. Though for a Congressman, the situation and environment may be of difficulty for some to deal or cope to such extremes. And you do see cases or hear some having some infections, but is understandable. Especially in public view or role, social roles tend to decrease the life expectancy of an individual...

I do find it appalling and yet quite disturbing how some social roles, like our leaders, cope with such extremes. It canbe bad for your health or bi-psychosocial health. Is a lot of factors involve, you would think they can improve it somewhat but boy, they really do have it tough.

I feel bad for you CNN!! But that goes for any news media, but some people do take care of themselves, good for them!

He'd better hope it wasn't a pre–existing condition or that his lifetime cap isn't consumed in recovering from this illness.

thank goodness the taxpayers are paying for Senator Isakson's treatment, if most of the Georgia representatives have thier way he would most likely just suffer or die if he was not insured, or sit in an emergency room for hours waiting on treatment

Sorry to hear he's sick. Wonder how he'd feel if he had no health care coverage like he voted against for the American people?

He should thank God for the voters who is paying for his health care so he can get the best care available. Maybe his illness will help him understand that others need care also.

Now the rest of us will get some of the care the "servant of the people" is getting now at little or no cost at the behest of the People while many Americans who were not so privledged were allowed to suffer and die! Ironic that on the day the common man won a major battle for freedom and dignity, this icon of wealth and privledge comes down with an illness – is this the hand of God?
