White House shrugs off Biden F-Bomb

Washington (CNN) – In the White House room where Abigail Adams used to air out her clean laundry, Vice President Joe Biden used some dirty language.

A microphone picked up Biden uttering the "F" word Tuesday in the majestic East Room of the White House, as President Obama signed the historic health care reform bill into law.

After delivering a rousing introduction of the president in which he praised Obama's "perseverance" and "clarity of purpose," Biden turned to embrace his boss.

As the crowd of approximately 300 people cheered wildly, Biden turned to Obama and said with a big smile, "This is a big f-- deal!"

The president did not react to the comment, apparently aware that the microphones may have picked up the words.

Shortly after the ceremony, White House Press Secretary used his Twitter feed to try and diffuse any controversy.

"And yes Mr. Vice President, you're right..." Gibbs tweeted from his @PressSec Twitter account.

An aide to the vice president pointed reporters seeking comment to Gibb's tweet.

The vice president is known for unscripted moments, but not in such a high-profile setting as a bill-signing ceremony in the East Room. According to the White House Historical Association, first lady Abigail Adams was famous for using the room to dry her laundry. President John F. Kennedy lay in state in the East Room after his assassination in 1963.

    He is right!

I don't understand why we should care. He said something private during something very emotional. He did not use the word in a public speech.

Let's celebrate the moment! It is a big deal. With f word or any word!

Joe Biden's f-bomb comment pretty much illustrates the attitude of this administration toward the American people. Of course Obama is able to shrug it off – he shares that sentiment.

Well, it is, isn't it? This or something like it should have happened a long time ago. It's a truly (without any need for "spin") BIG F____g deal indeed when the special interests are overcome by Americans' belief in basic human decency. When pettiness, paranoia and meanness are forced to take a back seat, for a time at least. Today I am indeed proud to be an American, home of (resuscitated but still kicking) opportunity for ALL, not just those lucky enough, oh 'scuse me – I meant hard-working enough – to be wealthy.

Give me an f-bomb break. The signing was a big f-bomb deal. Kennedy and Abigail would've agreed.

Biden is a low life, ignorant, stupid, egomaniac. So what do youexpect from the Obama's Wh. Obama himself is a marxist who has no respect for the American people in fact his aim is to destroy America and all you who worship at his feet will see what he has done with this abysmal healthcare bill, which has nothing to do with health but everything to do with control

Big deal? Nobody is saying anything good about this plan. If anyone is saying something about it, they usually seem to be angry.

Let the man be himself. He is realistic. Who in America doesn't use the F-Word. A man of his status and feel free, open minded and open speaker, let him jubilate with the F word. This is a big and been a hard fight with them nuckle head Republicans. After all he didn't commit a crime. Freedom of speech right, press an Religion. This is a high profile man that speaks freely. If you ask me, he's exercising his constitutional rights.

Really? And that he SAID hat was a big F-- deal? Look, I'm a Republican, but it didn't bother me when Bush said it, and it really doesn't bother me if Biden says it. Now, if Obana says it in the State of the Union speech, that would be different.
