House members report increased threats since health care vote

Washington (CNN) - House Democrats are concerned about their security due to increased threats since Sunday's vote to pass the health care bill, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said Wednesday.

Hoyer told a news conference that "a significant number, meaning over 10," had reported either threats, vandalism or other incidents.Capitol police officials have briefed House Democrats on reporting suspicious or threatening activity and taking precautions to avoid "subjecting themselves or their families to physical harm," said Hoyer, D-Maryland.

Earlier Wednesday, the Albemarle County Fire Marshal's Office in Virginia confirmed the FBI was investigating a suspicious incident at the home of Virginia Democratic Rep. Tom Perriello's brother, days after the brother's home address was posted online by a Tea Party activist.

An aide to Perriello told CNN that a line to the propane tank on his brother's gas grill had been severed.

  1. Investigate Palin

All fingers point to Sarah Palin. If tis was a criminal case, she can becharged with conspiracy!

This smacks of the Civil Rights years. These people are criminals, treat them and the ones goading them to violence as criminals. There are far more civil and intelligent ways to show your disapproval than to resort to violence. It's called voting.

    Bachmann and Palin.

Need look no further than those two for inciting violence against other U.S. Citizens of all walks of life.

What Bachmann and Palin need to remember is that Democrats ALSO have the right to own and carry guns.

When will the violence end? When we're under martial law?

I've been saying for a while now that Americans don't like tyranny. And what else can you call it when 219 slimy politicians ignore the expressed wishes of over half of the American electorate.

I'm really looking forward to the next round of "town hall" meetings–though my guess is that the would-be petty tyrants who voted for the health care welfare catastrophe are going to be too afraid to face the people they've just screwed.

  8. The GOP wants to take our country backwards

The tea party/GOP (they are really the same thing) are digusting with their hate-mongering, scare tactics, threats of violence and name-calling. Our country can do much better than the likes of them and there is no way I will be voting for anyone connected with the GOP (and that means the tea partiers too) for a very long time. They seriously need to clean up their act, get some of their own ideas (that are not just recycled from the previous decade already proven not to work) and start talking about ideas instead of just stirring up hate and fear.

Thank you for your votes, Democrats! I know it was the hard thing to do. But it was the RIGHT THING TO DO FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

Please get this thru the Senate. I have a strong dislike for the Republicans!

What did they expect? Forcing this crap down the throat of the american people. Ignoring what the majority want. Calling all opposition stupid and tea-baggers. They should be afraid.

The spin keeps coming, now they fear for their lives. They need only fear for their jobs. They know that, so they have to discredit all dissent.

Don't buy into the propaganda, we are conservative, we are peaceful, and we will repeal the Obama Care debacle of 2010 in 2012!

Join us, especially moderate Democrats you need to come over to the Republican party, if only for a little while. Then you can rebuild the Democratic Party... starting with a good logical moderate foundation.

Common Sense Solutions.. .not BIG GOVERNMENT in 2010 & 2012!!

I think it's dumb of people to do that but sometimes I guess if you don't listen to the voters they try and get your attention another way.

Threats are for stupid people anyway they must have been a bully growing up.

All these people need to do is vote, they dont need to go around name calling and threatening people. It's time to start arresting people SPECIALLY politicians who are obviously inciting people to violence. It's very obvious with the signs they use and the language they use that most of these people are hinting at violence, how many times have we seen a poster saying KILL THE BILL with a picture of Obama. Clearly these things are meant to incite violence, republicans are willing to have americans killing each other just to get back into power. Im disgusted with certain parts of America right now.

why does this not surprise me. Look at the way our politicians in Washington are acting. One shouted "you lie" which disrespected the office of the President. Now it's "baby Killer" and this guy is actually reaping rewards for his behavior. Then theres your talk radio who almost actually are telling people to act violent. Then of course there is Sarah Palin. This woman is actually getting rich being stupid. I think its time these people stand up and be accountable for their irresponsibility. There are people in this country who take these peoples words as gospel and act on these words. If any politician or their family is injured because of this, we all know who will have blood on their hands. Can they live with themselves? Lets hope so. God Bless this country please.

Yep, there's the convservatives' patriotic repsect for our democracy for ya: when the vote doesn't go your way and all else fails, including lies, misinformation and general demogoguery, reach for your gun. Am I right, GOPers?

Here's some friendly advice: nothing will damage you more in November 2010 and 2012 than something happening to one of the Dem congresspeople, Obama, a federal building or other act of domestic terrorism institgated by your bombastic, self-serving rhetoric, which was intended all along to get the extreme elements of your party all riled up and ready to shoot. Reap what you sow.

Then maybe they shouldn't have voted for this trash. It doesn't help the taxpayer, and no one seems to want it. Those that are paying for it anyway.

How do you spend 900+ billion and save money? Oh, maybe by taxing tanning beds? Taxing liquor and candy?

Maybe you should tax people on a high-fiber diet since they are going through too much toilet paper and water. That's where this bill is "head"ing.

So this is what we've come to? Threats? Where were these people when Bush was shredding the constitution, giving tax breaks to his rich friends, and starting a war based on a lie? And I would just love to see Bush and Cheney's net worth before they took office and after they left.

Why the anger now, and not then? These people should be thrown in jail. And Fox News pundits and right wing hate radio should be brought up on incitement charges for the lies they use to get these people foaming at the mouths. I want my country back from this insanity. They're destroying it. The pundits for ratings and $$$$$ and the right wing fringe just because they're sore losers. It has to stop.

And Sarah Palin sent out a map with gunsights targeting democrats and calling on her followers to 'reload.' how sick and dangerous is this goon squad going to get? are they really ready to kill and die to deny people health care? are they going to start another civil war over 'states' rights?' and i bet they all consider themselves 'good Christians.' yeah, right! these are anarchists, pure and simple. they do not believe in the democratic process or majority rule. they want to just rule. a very sick, crazy, dangerous crowd that needs to stand down and join civilized society again.
