House members report increased threats since health care vote

Washington (CNN) - House Democrats are concerned about their security due to increased threats since Sunday's vote to pass the health care bill, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said Wednesday.

Hoyer told a news conference that "a significant number, meaning over 10," had reported either threats, vandalism or other incidents.Capitol police officials have briefed House Democrats on reporting suspicious or threatening activity and taking precautions to avoid "subjecting themselves or their families to physical harm," said Hoyer, D-Maryland.

Earlier Wednesday, the Albemarle County Fire Marshal's Office in Virginia confirmed the FBI was investigating a suspicious incident at the home of Virginia Democratic Rep. Tom Perriello's brother, days after the brother's home address was posted online by a Tea Party activist.

An aide to Perriello told CNN that a line to the propane tank on his brother's gas grill had been severed.

Do crazy things like enact legislation that most American don't want and there will be some crazy people out there that threaten you. I don't believe in resorting to violence but I do remember crazy liberals saying threatening and vile things consistently about Bush. I would never want anyone harmed but if you are a public servant thats part of the deal. Crazy people get violent when they feel helpless and unheard.

Is there anything more to say about these nutcakes? They should be caught and seriously dealt with. They also need to get a life and/or take some meds for their irrational hysteria.

I don't know where you get your low polls of Nancy Palosi or Harry Read or any of the Democrats.. Larry King said 48% of the people want health care reform and 15% wanted even more.. Between the hostile actors, politicians and the media (FOX, Rush,Beck and the like) it's no wonder people are going nuts. By the way we are Democrats not Dems.. You don't call the Republicans Repubs..

Seriously, when you listen to the 'common man' and the rage that is makes one wonder just where we are headed in America. I find this very sad as it is a psychlogical warfare that has put fear in the minds of American's ...people really have to step back and ask themselves are they being manipulated to act this way. I say you are.
There IS power in the vote...that should be what is pulled..but before pulling anything..get involved...go to the politicans meetings..really question what they believe..and don't settle for simpleminded answers. Make your list, bring it with you. Don't let anger get serves no one.

I'm so glad the Independents are personally witnessing the outrageous behavior by the Republicans that condon violence. After the failed policies of the Bush Administration in the way of a war with NO WMD and tax cuts for the rich, why would anyone of the Independants vote Republican? Every GOP President has added to the deficit while Democratic Presidents have to dig us out of the hole. Voting Democrat that is for the Average Americans and kicking to the curb GOP representitives thAT only care about Corporate America and their million dollar envelopes is a NO BRAINER!!!

Violence is now being advocated? Upset?? Go take your "prescription drugs" and if caught doing it, plead an illness and check yourself into "rehab." After all, that is what one of your "famous" radio talk show host did and got away with it. If the Republican leadership does not move far away from this, then who are the real criminals? The people inciting others to violence will not be charged with anything. For God's sake, quit being manipulated into doing these unlawful acts.

"My answer is violence." Yes, the same tactic the Nazis used to take over Germany.

"Civil War"? Yes, we have absolutely no doubt that you are traitors to America, as were your Confederate forebears.

and this is how republicans behave when they are disappointed? lets just kill 'em, beat 'em up, physically accost them?

    (shakes head)

i am greatly disappointed in them on so many levels.

the president asked and asked and asked for input .. but none came ... and now, the right wingers want to get violent. pathetic, again, on so many levels.

They are nothing but a bunch of hyopcric's and spoiled children I did not get want I want so now I am going to make you pay for it somehow by getting someone less after you so you cannot blame pitty ol me.

It is very un-American for Republican supporters to keep threatening their fellow Americans If my memories serve me right, Republicans do have a long history of violence against Democrats on so many occasions, such as: President Lincoln, President Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King and the list goes on. If is not their way, no other way will be.

Hey, here is the new rule. When you can't rule my majority then rule by being thugs.

Every school yard bully now has their own political party. The TEA Party – guerrilla branch of the GOP.

And the GOP leadership just disgust me. Hanging signs and encouraging violent protest. I guess when you really have no new ideas and can't win the debate with facts, then you should scream loud and break windows. My, how civil and intelligent we are.

My concern regarding the threats and violence on our Americans, be they politicians or private citizens, is outrageous and criminal. The Republicans always tell their base to let your voice be heard...where is their voice (The Republicans) at this time. Hostility breeds hostility. Hate crimes and racism are criminal acts and those who practice and encourage such acts should be exceptions. Justice should seems that there is a double standard when some think and feel that they are above the law and consider that "JUSTICE" means "JUST...US" should be protected by the constitution and have rights they would deny others.

it was reported today that Sara Palin has 20 Democratic Senators listed on her Facebook page with crosshairs on them and is inviting Americans to come to Washington and bring their guns. Why does an 8 year ol who shows a gun or knife at school get expelled and put in juvenile for making terroristic threats but when Sara does it , it is called "violent imagery?".This is scarey stuff !!! Why is she not under arrest for TERRORISTIC THREATS??

I just wonder if these terrorists are the same people that asked for all acts of terrorism be treated without rights. Maybe they should be sent straight to jail, and while they are arresting these people for acts of terrorism they can arrest most of the Republicans and Tea Party clan for inciting such acts with all their lies and spreading of hate. Republicans just won't stop ruining the country, they did it for eight straight years and now they have temper tantrums like Boehner and expect the uneducated to act civil. Republicans are just as guilty as the people that have done their dirty deeds.Republicans have turned the US into a third world country and all the dems did was try to add something for the people instead of wars and economic disaster like the last administration.SHAMEFUL !

Ok..where is the proof..have they tracked anyone down? The tape of the woman that called Stupak hardly sounded like a threat..bad language and..more like a Karma warning that alot of people are having bad thoughts about him and he may get cancer..

And how do we know they are staged by the left?
Sounds like name-calling...only....maybe the Dems need to get a back-bone..I haven't heard a violent threat.

Where's the tape of the tomatoe being thrown at Palin....oh yea..that's funny..your punndits laughed at that..yet that tape is the most violent act I've seen yet? And it came from the left.

The majority of Americans did not want this health care bill. I think that the Democrats in Congress and those liberal posting here have no idea how mad the tax paying population of this country is. The media has tried to portray the anger at town hall meetings as a few isolated crack pots. Not so. It is the majority of Americans and poll after poll bore this out. This issue is far from resolved and I dare to predict class conflict as the Democrats attempt to implement this into law. I don't condone violence with this regard, but I predict that the passage of this bill is not a conclusion but only a starting point for a lot more anger and conflict. The bill payers in this country are tired of the politicians giving away our hard earned money to those unwilling to contribute to their best ability.

Same thing happend during desegregation in the 50's, civil rights in the 60's, emancipation proclamation, sufferage, and affirmative action. You all opposed it.

The GOP is responsible for all this hate and fear. They got the Tea Baggers and other extreme right wing nuts all ginned up by implying this or implying that and then by not renouncing their actions when they should have. The one or two times anyone did, it was with a wink and nod. If further violence continues or escalates it's squarely on the hands of the GOP. They play politics with the fringe and this is what happens. Voters should remember this well in November. The GOP is responsible and I'll be not one of their leaders comes out and states that fact, or to renounce what is going on.
