Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met for more than three hours Tuesday evening amid a dispute over Israel's decision to build new Jewish housing on disputed land in East Jerusalem.

The Obama administration has pushed to restart peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians and has called on Israel to stop building settlements on territory it captured in the 1967 Mideast war. Netanyahu's meeting at the White House came the day after he defended his government's plans to build new housing units in East Jerusalem, a move that has strained ties with Israel's largest ally.

The Israeli leader arrived after a show of solidarity with leaders of Congress from both parties, during which he thanked the U.S. lawmakers for their "constant support" and "unflagging" friendship.

"Even though the challenges are immense, our will and our partnership is also immense," Netanyahu said at an appearance with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, and House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio.

If Obama wants the Palestinians to return to talks, then he needs to stop giving them a reason to continue hurling their rockets. Obama's statements have given the Palestinians no reason to talk.

As far as Jerusalem is concerned...it is Israel's territory, won fair and square after Israel was attacked by Arabs in 1967's six day war. Nothing Israel has done since has made the Palestinians happy....its time for them to leave permanently to the millions of square miles available in Arab lands.

The only reason Israel even exists is US protection.
Getting Israel to behave should be as simple as saying "Do this or we drop our protection – & good luck with Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia & every other Middle Eastern neighbor who wants you wiped from the map".

The problem is sometimes when you take an uneducated person like Natanyahu and put him in that head of States status you will get that kind of trash from someone like him because he doesn't know any better yet. That also goes to his government. And when we have to lower ourselves to their standards we become the likes of them, and our credibilities around the world are affected. The blame lies on the administration, as the world also take the blame that such people do exist.

I hope that the President asked for an apology for the death of American sailors on the USS Liberty and demanded reparations. Better yet, just offset if from the handout we give them every year.

we can no longer afford to support Israel. We have our own problems to take care of. If, after 60 years Israel can not take care of its people – well so be it.
