Pence to address Iowa Republicans on eve of Obama visit

Rep. Mike Pence will address an anti-health care reform rally in Iowa.
Rep. Mike Pence will address an anti-health care reform rally in Iowa.

(CNN) – Here's the latest sign Rep. Mike Pence is mulling a possible presidential run in 2012: the Indiana Republican will address an anti-health care reform rally in Iowa City Wednesday night. Pence will be beamed into the event, put on by the Iowa Republican Party, via Skype.

Iowa City, of course, is where President Obama will visit on Thursday to promote the health care bill he signed into law this week.

The "Stand Up for Freedom Rally" will take place at the University of Iowa.

"I'm proud to have Congressman Pence standing with Iowans tonight and standing up against the continued assault on our personal and economic freedoms from the Obama administration and Iowa's congressional Democrats," Iowa GOP chairman Matt Strawn said in a statement.

Pence has already made political stops in Iowa, traditionally home to the first-in-the-nation presidential caucuses. He's also visited the early primary states of New Hampshire and South Carolina.

Good work. Lets show this country that there is a great alternative to the thugs that are running the executive office, house and senate. Everyboyd in this country has seen them for what they are – apart from the few hate-filled liberals who will never change.

He won't ever be president. As soon as more violene comes out, anyone with their pictures/videos with the teabaggers will be doomed. And there are plenty with their faces out there.

America Al Quaeda = Teabaggers/Republicans/Conservaties. Too much hate being stirred up. It won't work.

Oh goody...more lies from the right to their base. This is not a 'government takeover.' No one is "assaulting your personal and economic freedoms."

(Why are their similes always weapons related, anyway?)

Just how did you feel when Bush was mandating Medicaid B, (unpaid) No Child (unfunded), and sending trillions of dollars (off the budget) into Iraq? Not to mention torturing and spying on Americans. Since he was a good old white boy, somehow it was just fine, and if we challenged anything, we were 'traitors.' As far as I know, no one has called you a traitor, but it is tempting! And guess what, we STILL haven't been attacked under Obama's watch...I know you're glad about that at least! (NO?)

Gee, what an unexpected development... a politician using the anti-Health Care Reform portion of the population in orcder to fulfill his personal political agenda...
Might happen with the pro Health Care Reform portion of the population as well.

TTTT, I'm very curious to see how Obama's approval ratings will go over the next month or two. Up, or down.

Definitions of freedom: the condition of being free; the power to act or speak or think without externally imposed restraints.

These jokers still have all the freedom in the world. They have the freedom to hurl the N word at African American congressmen. They have the freedom to walk around Washington DC with pictures of President Obama in a coffin. They are free to promote violence like the Article of Freedom tea party rallies planned for April 19th. That date sound familiar?? Waco 1993, Oklahoma City bombing 1995

Pence would be a lot better than Obama thats for sure. I was willing to gibe Obama the benefit of the doubt when he was elected but I like a lot of Americans feel completely betrayed. To say Obama has been dishonest on so many issues would be an understatement.

I hope Pence tries to enlighten the Conservatives of Iowa. The latest Harris Poll suggests that many Republicans are insane. One out of four Republicans believe that Obama is the Anti-Christ. Two out of three say he is a socialist. 40% say that the Wall Street Bankers tell him what to do.

We're not talking about people with extreme political views here. We're talking about people with clinical paranoid delusions, and there are millions of them! And they vote! God help us!

It's the invasion of the pod people.

Why would anyone want a President who always has a mean looking scowl on his face? Well, vote for Pence and that is what you will get. The man always looks mad no matter where he is or who he is talking with. That look on his face always turns me off. I guess if he ever smiled his face would crack.

"I'm proud to have Congressman Pence standing with Iowans tonight and standing up against the continued assault on our personal and economic freedoms from the Obama administration and Iowa's congressional Democrats," Iowa GOP chairman Matt Strawn said in a statement.

The American people have shown that they are not worthy of the freedoms they are given. When given these freedoms, we abuse them terribly by living selfishly and acting without any sense of civic responsibility. There were some examples over the weekend. When protesters use racial slurs and spit on congressmen, these people should have their freedoms revoked. The uncivil discourse in the House last Sunday is just another example.

Interestingly, the people who mostly engage in these practices are republicans. If you looked at the daily practices of most people, you would find, on average, that it is Democrats who comport themselves in ways most deserving of these freedoms. They are the ones who practice the Christian values to which republicans only pay lip service (and plenty of it). And it is the Democrats who are espousing the charitable position that everyone should have health care while republicans clearly do not care one lick if everyone is covered or cannot be turned away for pre-existing conditions, etc. After all, they had their eight years in power and never touched this issue.

So I think it's time for republicans to stop behaving like spoiled children who suddenly can no longer have their way and start acting like true citizens.

Why this clown has aspirations for President is beyond me, the last person I would vote for President is Sarah Make Up with NO Brains until this clown showed up, now in an election between the two clowns I would unfortunately have to vote for her, thankfully they will never run against each other on the final ticket so I don't have to worry about that. This man has so little credibility and intelligence as to be as laughable as Sarah, do the Repugliban have ANYONE with a Brain to run for ANY office, No really, I mean it, do they?

Do these GOPers have even the slightest clue as to how idiotic they sound?

Stand Up or Freedom? Rather hypocritical, that. If the past 2 years has proven anything, it's proven just how out of touch with reality the GOP really is, and - most likely - will always be.

On a good note, at least the GOP has given up pretending to be Country First. Might I suggest they adopt the more fitting ME FIRST slogan and be done with pretense all together?

Go for it Pence. I'm guessing acting the fool is nothing new to you.

  23. An 8 year old ELEPHANT dung heap, does not transform into compost in just 1 year!

The ink is not dry on the new health care law and the American people support the new health care bill 49 to 40 against according to the USA Today/Gallup poll. You know, one those things you Reds used to say America did not ‘want this rammed down our throats“ as your republiklan House Reps were tea bagging one another on the balcony on Sunday. And that is just after one day! It will only go up as more Americans become familiar with the benefits.

Any now you tea bagging cons in the Senate want to vote FOR leaving in the “Cornhusker” and “Louisiana Purchase” by voting AGAINST the “fix it” bill?

That MAY resonate with the racist base, as you continue to try and assure that President Obama “fails” and try to take back “our country“ form the black guy in the White House, but call me silly, but I have difficult time thinking every American parent is going to vote for Greedy Old People that wants to roll coverage from 26 BACK to 18 or 19 for each of their children. I can also see where all those with pre-existing conditions that now qualify for the “high risk” pool such as Cancer survivors AND all of his/her family members rushing to the polls to vote you “big business” supporters with you “tort” reform fix and extending care to 3 million and sentence their loved ones to a true “death panel“.

The rest of American outside that “revival tent” that preaches racism and “birther” sermons, will not care if President Obama is green or truly prove “Men are from Mars” as long as the change will help their children to a more healthy future.

So, I agree that you need to keep fighting “socialism” and “guvmint takeover” with every breath you rednecks breathe and keep chuggin‘ on the backyard ‘shine.

Just be aware the rest of America will NOT be drinking the redneck “kool-aid”

However, as I THINK America will see it as that “empty suit community organizer” was really on the side of the American working class and once it sinks that you cons were trying to “con” the American people by your bold face lies about what was really in the bill and the fact that President Obama included more than 200 Red amendments in this new law, there will be a “Waterloo” and a “failure”, but my crystal ball does not show that to be President Obama or the Dems in Congress.

So, continue to say you will vote against the recon package and FOR keeping the sweetheart deals in the Senate bill that is now the LAW OF THE LAND.

President Obama painted the entire party of NO into a corner yesterday with one stroke of his pen, so now hand him another paint roller to slap you across the face with!

Certainly works for me AND the American people.

    Pence is an opportunist.

Where there is division, anger and confusing being promoted is evil.

Where there is uniting, calm, and clarity being promoted is God.

So the rally will be the indicator as to which Pence is following.

What a great moment for Pres. Obama to return to Iowa on Thursday, three years after he launched his primary campaign. He "walked the talk" and delivered what he promised: substantial healthcare reform!

For me, Pres. Obama deserves to be called the title of a book about FDR, by the historian James MacGregor Burns, "The Lion and the Fox."
